For me, it would be this optional boss I made in my first game that i ever completed. His stats were all the max, and the lowest level I ever beat him was 95 with everyones ultimate weapon and armor, and 99 potions and whatnot >__________>.

The easiest was the last boss in my first game ever. I was a little cheater back then, so by the time you reached him, you were maxed out ^_^. He had like, 5000 hp -_-...

Yeah... I kinda like the smileys >__>.

FFVII and LoD are the Kings of RPG's!
So far, my hardest boss is the Blood Wolf (and its 3 other forms) in my game "Plasmic Rupture"... Or maybe "Plasmic Pandemonium"... I'm accpeting name ideas in the proper forum... But in my first game, bosses were insanely easy because you have very high stats. The first mini boss had 10,000 HP, and the hardest boss in there had like 25,000... Lol that game sucked so much.
I made my first good cut scene on May,9/07!

Hardest Boss...Hmmm. Well there is one boss i made who has really high evasion like 70% but low health and strength also kind of high defense. The hard thing was that it took so long to fight the boss making it kind of annoying.

I don't make games, I just play them.

I remember maybe 5 years ago a RPG2K game. There was an all out war with one boss at the end. I really do mean a war, a very rewarding, long battle that was 3 hours long by the time I beat the sucker! The entire thing was very fun, so fun I had to play it 3 times before finally beating him.

Maybe the reason why it was actually fun is that the boss shifted to different things depending on the time of the battle and how damaged it was :-)

Hopefully I can remember the name of the game and post it.

2 + 2 is a math problem, NOT 4.
I haven't made any yet, but the one I'm planning on making is going to have all 99999 HP plus he heals 5 times, and has an attack similar to KH's Sin Harvest. Plus lots of other things.  The once you beat him you have to fight Blizzard Nouman and... ME.  Blizzard, of course, has lots of special effects, Nouman changes your abilities, and I am the games creator, so I have only one weakness: computer crash. You have to figure out how to do that... And I actually have these made, just not added to the game yet.  And Forcystus's was hard... I had to cheat in the two strongest characters at level 99  ;D

For me, I have made undefeatable bosses, where the point was to lose.

The toughest boss I've made that you could pass was Sekio. An undefeatable boss from my Maia 2K3 and 2K7 games. You would merely need to survive him for 10 minutes. At the end of 10, he gets busy and has to leave!

Mine was back with the first version of Quintessence TBV, some elemental boss I made for fun and practice but never released. It didn't have much hitpoints (about 15 rounds of straight attacks would probably kill it); but it had all kinds of tricks that I can't really remember clearly now. E.g., at n%, it charges up a nuke that gets released depending on the speed that its hp goes down in the next few rounds; which could result in a merge with other attacks that would probably wipe out the party if they were to damage the boss too fast or too slow. Then at x% it stuns a random party member while mind controlling the other party member to hit on themselves for a few turns, then summons 2 adds at y%, does a damage/mana drain-over-time thing at times, and etc. I used real-active-time battle system as well, so there wasn't really too much time to think before forced to react. I'm not sure if it's still around somewhere but now that I think of it, I wanna try it again; back then even though I knew how the boss functions I still got pwnt more than half the time.  :-X

This game never had a title, and it was deleted along with my previous reformat, but I still remember it vaguely.

Early game optional bosses. They all have around 19k HP, and the party at that time should do around 1-2k damage per skill. It's difficult to explain it continuously, so I'll just list out.

1 - Marcus
- Hurricane Slash - Pretty much instant kill.
- Final Strike - Use when HP < 15% - Hits all, does a lot of damage, yet not enough to kill at that point of time.

2 - Undine
- Water - Medium damage
- Healing Wind - Use when HP < 50% - Heals all party members.
- Silence - Silences the enemy.

3 - Lich
- Plague - Casts paralysis, sleep, poison, dizzy and confusion
- Darkness - Medium damage.
- Demon Lord's Edict - Use when HP < 25% - Hits all, not enough to kill.

Alone, they're simple enough, but together, they were the toughest guys I've ever fought. ._.

...at that point of time.

Hmm... This was a map-event made boss. He was a lava-golem type thing.

He was atom a pedestal in a large room. Hed start by throwing grenades at you, then he'd jump towards you for a second, then jump back. That was your cue to hit him.

He'd then start throwing flames more frequently, and then, instead of jumping towards you, he'd jump in a random direction. This was a pain in the ass, cause if you were on the other side of the room, you might not get him in time.

After another while, he'd keep up his attack pattern, he'd then teleport to random places in the room. Same problem.

Huy took about 10 minutes to beat...

The Hardest bosses I made were in The Final Remix Expansion I am making (or were):

1) Genjou Miroku (Optional Boss)
HP was 89999 And had a Powerful Defence, Was this Giant Ball with Three Hands and a Club.
The Beginning of the Battle he Cast a Spell Called Revolvia, Which Gave Him Reflect and Regen at the Same Time.
His Spells, Raising Chaos and Megavolt were the ones to be Feared the Most, since both Cause Mayor Damage.
He Would Be Invulnerable to Many Status Effects except Reflect and Regen. He also Drained HP And SP when he Attacked.

When He Dies, he Cast Meteoraga to the Entire Party.

2) Azmaria Henderics (Final Boss)
Her Final Boss Theme Song would like make one just burst of energy, as meaning...This is it.
She isn't hard, but it;s her 4-Stage Transformations, Human-Form, Armor Form, Dragon Form, Twilight Form. (Which was a pain in the neck kinda way) First form is easy, Second form she starts adding Adnormal Status effect to the Characters, At her Third Form, She starts to Cast powerful spells, and Becomes mostly Invulnerable to many of your Spells, Final Form...You have One Character, Her with 90000 HP, Has Immortality-Aura, Reflect and Regen Casted, plus Barrier and Resist. Taking down her "Immortal" status would require the Final Weapon of Tsukasa to actually Break it, and Cast Abzolute-Zero, but need Aeon's Robes, so that the Effects of Absolute-Zero didn't affect Tsukasa and kill her. At the Bitter end...I am not spoiling.

3) The 4th Crusader, Fiory Leingod (6th Battle)

She has Regen, and Regenerates Double each Time...
And Cast Lightning Judgment Every 3 Turns...Which Kinda kills most of the Players, good thing it's close to the final Battle.

The Dark Heavens: (Final Remix)

4) Evena, The Serpent Blade

She Drains your Entire MP at the Beginning of the Battle...and Can Cast Two Times in her Very Own Turn.

5) Inary, The Silent Blade

At the Start of battle, if you don't Have Someone equipped with Eonix Armor or Aeon's Robes, you'll die from her First Attack, Tek Novious, which Causes Auto-Death.

6) Zakiel, The Hollowed Mirror

Tsukasa Can Only fight here, and she's facing...her Own Mirror Image of herself.

GS had hard bosses. My strongest one(s) consisted of four demons, each one absorbing 2 different elements. One with high def, one with high str, one with high agi and one with high magic. Really hard and powerfull, and HP was around 60000 a pop.

The Booka is coming!
I've made several really hard bosses.  In one of my games you had to fight the 4 saint beasts... in a row and they each had 2 forms.  One as their human form and then one as their demon beast form.  I dont remember the hp any more but I know Byako had a one hit kill move he would do every once in a while.  Oh, and you were solo on this one too.

Also, in another game I made, I made the main character from that one as an optional boss and he had a move (he had this in the game too just not as powerful) called Reikai Gun and it would hit the whole party for roughly 3-5k in one hit. (it was a low hp game where at the max level you probably only had 6-8k)

He was beatable though extremely hard but you get the best weapons in the game for the main character.

Edit: Oops, I forgot to add this, in this new game I am going to create a very VERY rare enemy thats almost impossible to find but if you do find it your screwed.  It will be called "A pack of wild boars" and it will only have 1 move called "Ass Rape" where it hits the whole party for 9999 points of damage instantly.  I've been using a term lately "You've been raped by a pack of wild boars" so I decided to actually try applying that in a game.

I know this is necroposting, but perhaps a new crop of visitors have something to say.

I just finished in game testing a boss battle that turned into an epic 12 minute battle that was a lot of fun every step of the way! Even though I lost in the end (because I refuse to use potions when testing my own game) it was still so much fun!

A flaming hot woman named Fiera. She has a flame tongue, fireballs and silence as her major tactics. Then after 10 turns, she uses spirit up and her fireballs become twice as powerful, normal weapons do not hurt her.

Water spells are a must, but the catch is that only 2 characters out of 4 have water spells. There is one healer to remove the silence. There is another character that can poison her, and she immediately cures herself of poison, because otherwise she dies pretty quick.

All of my characters stayed alive by guarding at the right moments and that gained some energy back. The bitter end was down to the character that could only poison her, and it was working, because near her death she begins to heal herself.

It was major epic fun.

The hardest I think I've ever made was a secret boss in the ABS game "Anima". Namkcor had to tone him down in difficulty in the final version, but before then, he was an absolute bitch to kill. At first it would seem like an easy battle, but soon it would roll into an intense 10 minutes of spam healing and attacking like crazy, and this was just on easy mode alone. Stat-wise, he mostly matched the final boss save for having nearly double the number of health points, but where his difficulty came in was his attacks. He launched a powerful explosive ball of energy that would home in on you if you got close enough, and would then teleport away to mess up your ranged attacks. The only way to defeat him was to use a DEF UP skill, ATT UP skill, get in close and nail him as many times as you could before your health got about halfway down, then run away and heal yourself up as best as you can, waiting for your SP to replentish and heal yourself from the damage you took while waiting. Rinse lather repeat, with him becoming more aggressive and teleporting more often to get away from you as his health got lower.

In the RM2003 game I abandoned so long ago, the end guy was a dracolich with six times the hp of the party PUT TOGETHER  and a defense rating so high that the warriors, even with the epic weapons and maxed stats only hit 50% of the time for 1% of the thing's damage. And that's just combat. His magic was highest level, too.

It really showd my inexperience in making games, it was a learning experience.

Essentially, I made a boss that transforms into more difficult forms, with cutscenes between each form. The final form was actually the smallest form but had auto-regen 100% life per tic and mega high defense, but average attack. It had no magical attacks or defenses except for auto-regen. (Which like I just said, heals him 100% the life every tic). The auto-regen lasted 6 turns then the boss would recast it. The only way to win was to cast Silence on him, but he was immune to all magic attacks, so you had to use items that silenced him. He had a lot of life and defense, it was difficult because it was more like 'how long can you keep on punching a brick wall' + 'how many of those silence items do you have left' kind of thing.

Kane. Anyone that followed Clericus should know who that is.
You were to fight him fairly early in the game, and unless you'd done an excessive amount of level grinding, half his attacks were likely to KO your entire party in the first round, and he would evade every other attack.
I did a shitload of battle testing with the RTAB, and it took me many, many attempts.
Then when I later tried to implement the TBS, his range of movement was ridiculous, and he could target multiple characters in a line like the laser eyes in Shining Force.

I think bosses that are just straight up over powered are dumb. They're there to be nothing but a nuisance and make the player angry. There's not strategy for it except to grind your ass off then face them again on your own terms. If there's an actual strategy other than being 20 levels higher than the boss, then I'd say it's a good fight. Or, if the boss was lvl 1 and you're level 99 and the boss is still difficult by means other than shear power. Strategy and thinking is what's fun. :)
Essentially, I made a boss that transforms into more difficult forms, with cutscenes between each form. I forgot to mention that he was immune to all other status afflictions other than that item silence. That was the point of him to have no magical attacks. His casting of auto-regen wasn't really like a magic attack it was like some stupid plot item that the boss had that he could use in battle, which is why it was dependent on items to silence it.

Anyways, I guess if I reply I may as well be relevant t subject at hand hardest boss? Well a game idea that is in the works called "NPC" has a secret boss, the protagonists.

Basically 3 spiky haired 16 year olds who are incredibly overpowered (since the point of the game is that your an average NPC who is board of having no purpose in live but to give advice to PCs you are underpowered, to say the least).

One is the basic blond fighter guy with high speed and attack and some healing magic.
Another is the guy built like a giant with dark, short spiky hair who has incredible DEF/ATK
Third is the female mage who has disgustingly low ATK/DEF but can use every spell in the game.
They also have 99 potions, 99 eithers, and 20 phoenix downs.
Why do 1 lined nameless NPCs never get taken seriously?
