Title: Another RPG Maker XP Quest Contest : Halloween Edition

There has not been a contest for RPG Maker in at least six months. So I am proposing a Halloween contest for the RPG Maker XP. You will have nearly 60 days from this point. I hope that more people will participate with this considering the last contest.

REQUIREMENTS
 - The main player character (protagonist) of the game must use an enemy sprite from the RTP (it is Halloween after all) (this does not mean the main character has to be evil)

 - gameplay must be between 25-60 minutes long.
 - The game must be created for this contest, you cannot submit any pre existing games
 - The game cannot be based on another game, movie or franchise (examples: Star Trek, LoTR, Family Guy, Sin City)
 - You may use original content, but it must be original content made for this contest
 - Use an original story line (it can be a cliche'd storyline, just do not blatantly rip one off)
 - Must be made in RPG Maker XP
 - If you are a judge, you cannot participate

SCRIPTING RULES
 - You can only use scripts for this game.
 - They cannot use scripts that you have used for your other games
 - You cannot use anyone else's scripts.

GRAPHIC RULES
 - You can either use RTP graphics (the ones that came with the RPG Maker XP) or use graphics created exclusively for this contest.
 - You cannot use any graphic / tileset / sprite / battler generators (this is a contest of your skills, not the generator's).

If you refuse any of these rules, your entry will be disqualified

DEADLINE
 - Quests / games must be submitted before October 31st

JUDGING BASED ON
 - FUN :: was the game actually fun to play? was the game tedious or a pain? did you personally like it?
 - MAPPING :: were there any errors? were the maps detailed or interesting? were the maps bland?
 - STORY :: did it pull you in? did it even interest you?
 - DIFFICULTY :: was it too hard? was it too easy? is it possible to beat?
 - ORIGINALITY :: was it a unique game? did it seem like another game? was it a blatant rip off?
 - OVERALL :: add up the score

REWARDS
 - I wish I knew what to give

JUDGES
 - lost (myself)
 - judge 2
 - judge 3
 - judge 4
 - judge 5

 - if you are a judge, you cannot participate

well I guess I could be a judge but only if no one else wants to.  I don't have XP yet (little problem called "money") so I can't enter...

If it were an original enemy sprite made for the contest, it would still need to be an enemy in the game, proving it is a sprite of an enemy

However, to prevent confusion, it must be an enemy sprite from the RTP.

Also, what? If I want my character to be a good guy, it has to be RTP?

Your main character can be good, evil, neutral. Anything, it just needs to have the sprite of RTP enemy.

torrent: where?  PK edition: sucks and I can't read japanese.  I tried using it and hated that I can apparently only use one battle scheme where the characters are still-images at the base of the screen.  boring.  great graphics, but battle layout was boring without animations other than attacks.

Lol, what are you smoking? PK edition is in English (the reason it was made) and the "battle scheme" you're talking about is the default battle system.

quick question: is it okay for the main character to be a non-monster sprite for like the begining of the game. I sort of have ideas of people choosing their halloween costume ingame :D

Yes you can. Just make sure that the main character gets a costume of a monster sprite in the first 5 minutes.

WHERE???? the only one I can find is the japanese one!  GAAAAHHH!!!!  I suck at internet searching apparently...if it's right off the main RPGM website, most of those pages won't load for me no matter what computer I'm on so I can't check them.

Are there enough judges or should I take a position?  because of time issues I'm kinda hesitant but if needed I can try to be a judge.

This seems like it will be fun. I will try to make a project for it, but I won't make any promises. If all else fails, I will gladly volunteer for judge. Hopefully, I can come up with some ideas.

Yes it can be anything you want, just as long as it does not pertain to a franchise, television series or book. Example: Joey's Star Trek Adventure :: Rummy's Brawl with Peter Griffen :: Froto and the Hallloween Pumpkin of Evil.

it is good to attempt a game where you can't use scripts :D. fourtunately my game doesnt need a cms or a CBS you wont be doing much fighting in it tee hee *taps nose*

Technically you cannot use a script you have previously used, but you can create a new script that looks like it.

Nope, no generated characters, this is supposed to be YOU AND YOUR TALENTS & SKILLS which is what makes this a contest. I'm beginning to rethink even using scripts and added in graphics.

You can use a style that is like Narumara's battlers. Not that I know what they are. However, you yourself must make the battlers. Like I said in the statement earlier this is supposed to be YOU AND YOUR TALENTS & SKILLS which is what makes this a contest.

Now to go update the rules to clarify them more to prevent questions.

I never got that badge for winning the last contest. I am still in it. Although I am in the writing phase. I am having huge problems with RPG Maker XP. It keeps trying to install itself when I startup my PC.

Well, if someone else plans on submitting, I will submit what I have, but I was planning on just making what I was making into an actual full length game, rather then just a quest. So, if nobody else submits, then I will not either.

Well no one forgot about it, I guess that I just put too many restrictions having people use their own original things for the contest. Next contest will be a week long, and allow anything at all.
