Friends!

As some of you may know, I've been helping Tez with his FFV-II project in the score department. Well, I've come to a finishing point! Which is to say I may not be done working on the project, but I have finished quite a bit of work for it, so I'm ready to start revealing it to the public!

Go here: http://soundcloud.com/ryanleber/sets/final-fantasy-v-ii/

Right now, there's only 6 tracks up. But guess what. A NEW ONE WILL BE UPLOADED EVERY DAY. That's right! Every day until ... well, until I'm out of tracks! So stay tuned to my SoundCloud page (linked above) for the updates!

Also, if you're not already on board, be sure to befriend my Facebook page, my Twitter page, and my YouTube page.
(New tracks aren't on the YouTube page ... yet ... but they probably will be before the end of the week.

GO NUTS

I ordered this earlier this week. As soon as it comes in, I was going to do a bunch of old school FF stuff for fun.

I paid much less, and that package includes 6 different libraries, but yes that's how much professional quality samples cost. It's what movie and video game scorers use as an alternative to hiring a real orchestra to play their music.

Honestly if Tezuka doesn't finish this we'll have to kill him for putting such talent to waste. Both yours and his.

Arlen has been the force in the background driving me to finish the project. His music has inspired me do as much as I have so far and I have no intention of canceling it. Arlen is my Nobuo. :)

Oh and yeah, Stagnant Snow and another track (I don't think I should say the name, since he hasn't uploaded it yet) are my favourites.

EDIT: The other track is called "Marching the Snowy Mountain".

I hope it's okay with you, but I'm going to put all of them up. So they'll all be up in 7 days, unless you want me to withhold something.

Oh, and I like Stagnant Snow so much ... I'm considering adding more to it, and making it in to a piece, and having the Electronic Ensemble play it in this semester's concert. :D

Lol, I can plug the game for you to the entire audience. :3

Haha, that sounds amazing.

Also I have no problem with you putting all of them up, it's your music, plus it will give everyone a bigger taste of what to come.

Just hold the final boss theme. Don't release it until you must, cause I love hearing boss themes for the first time IN the game.

I understand and sympathize with your reasoning for withholding the final boss themes, but with all due respect, I don't know when this project will be finished, and in the meantime I want the final battle themes in my portfolio, and available online so people can see what I'm capable of.

Sorry, but you'll just have to ... not listen to them, lol.

The final battle begins! (Don't listen if you don't want it spoiled. The final battle themes are all called "Eskhatos Deimos ____")

Got my expensive samples in.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18122044/The%20Fierce%20Battle%20EWQL%20Cut.mp3

Did that in about 5 minutes. You're not supposed to spend just 5 minutes using a library like this, because the amount which you can tweak each instrument and sound is mind-blowing, but just so you see why I bought it, I threw that together.

I mean, really, there's 4 sets of patches for violins. A solo set, a 3 violin set, a 11 violin set, and an 18 violin set. And each set has patches for legato, sustain, varying speeds of attack, pizzicato, numerous marcatos. Even playing with the wood of the bow, or smacking the strings with the bow. Even air noises and cluster chords, and that OH SHIT SPIDERS ARE CRAWLING ALL OVER ME clustered pizzicato effect. Basically, any way that's possible to play a violin can be reproduced flawlessly, if you take the time to play with it.

And that's just for violins. It does this for EVERY INSTRUMENT IN AN ORCHESTRA. And not just the popular instruments, even the ones that rarely get used. Like field drums, wagnertubens, alto flutes, piccolo trumpets, anvils, bowed crotales.

FOR GOD'S SAKE, there's even a "large string ensemble" set if you don't want to split all the strings up per section. One of the patches is samples of SEVENTY FUCKING STRINGS PLAYING AT ONCE, again in every way imaginable. I played 1 spread out chord, and I was completely blown away.

And that's just the orchestral set. What I ordered also came with 2 choir libraries, a piano library, a crazy godzilla/LOTR stormdrum library, an ethnic instruments library, and a general awesomeness library, and each library is as detailed and offers as much customization as the orchestral one.

I f**king LOVE these samples.
