TeslaCrypt targets RPG Maker Files (among other things)

Make sure you've got a backup of your projects that's not kept on your system folks. These infections have been bad enough without specifically targeting stuff like this.

I just want to add to this thread that if Strike is concerned about something like this, it demands your attention. This is likely a very big deal.

Email attachments MOSTLY but exploits in browsing software are not unheard of. Make sure you update Flash and Java, be careful of links from users on steam.

The main thing is to make a backup and then disconnect it from your system until the next time you back up. if it's connected, it's going to get encrypted too.

Overall it's almost identical to what happens with Cryptowall which I've posted about before, but it's much more relevent here because it specifically targets Gamers and Game files including RPGMAKER project files supposedly. Frankly I don't want to test that.

I strongly suggest that everyone does this anyways, because backups are never a bad idea. ;o

I only have precious few files that I consider important enough to back up - usually just stuff that is irreplaceable, such as my personal writings, art, and games. Family photos are a good idea, too.
