Since the passing of the Great Brutanus War, peace has scattered across the land and sixteen years of bloodshed are laid to rest as a historical tragedy. The young Queen Kailah personally ended nearly two decades of terror and reclaimed her long lost Kingdom, Lhuvia. Her return was greeted with welcoming arms, but she found her homeland to be quite scarce in comparison to its glorious state before the war.

Three years have passed and your chosen hero has decided to make a living on a small farm in the outskirts of Lhuvia's capital (Noverno Township). Every possible choice of hero has their own distinct reasons for taking on the role of a farmer (some more grand than others). Life seemed at peace (maybe even a little boring) until strange things started happening. The docile creatures of the wilds began transforming into horrendous, violent beasts. Queen Kailah quickly discovered this as an act of terrible magic, no-doubt caused by a powerful Dark Sage.

The Holy Queen calls upon you and many others to assist her as she fights to put a stop to this threat, and discover the truth behind the mysterious Dark Sage.

Arth

Biography: Recently, Arth showed up out of nowhere in the Castle, under the guardianship of Queen Kailah. No one knows much about him, other than that he came from Grenada, the "cold kingdom" (which explains the surplus in how much clothing he wears). If you don't play as him, he will take on a job (or perhaps hobby?) at the library, handling and selling magic. In combat, he is adept with all kinds of magic, especially Ice (no surprises there).
Personality: Arth keeps to himself mostly. When he does talk, his great intellect and blunt honesty can sometimes upset those of a sensitive heart. He's a rather cold man, not capable of freely expressing his emotions - except with those he greatly trusts.
Likes & Dislikes: Arth easily gets along with people that have a good head on their shoulders, but even more so, he appreciates those that are kind and genuine. Not surprisingly, he has no tolerance for those that are ditsy or dim-witted. For gifts, he enjoys anything that could come from a bakery (basically, anything bread-like). He also enjoys magical items, such as crystals. Just don't ever make him anything with onions in it.
*He is canon with Diora.


Clyde

Biography: Years ago, Clyde lived a pampered life of luxury with absolutely no worries. Everything changed when his sister, Alita, was disowned by their father for getting engaged to a peasant priest (Thane). Clyde left home to search for his sister, and with no place to go, he ended up living with Alita and her fiance in Noverno. Although he constantly complains about missing his wealthy lifestyle, Clyde has never been happier. Most days, you can find him hunting in the woods. In combat, he is very well-balanced, but favors accuracy over everything else.
Personality: Because of his sheltered childhood, he's a bit of a stuck-up jerk on the surface, often obsessively talking about himself. His snotty qualities aren't frowned upon, but rather have become a point of amusement for the other villagers. Deep down, he is a sensitive man with ethical values.
Likes & Dislikes: Clyde is shallow in that he prefers "cute" girls with a little spunk and pep. People that are interesting easily catch his attention. However, he can be very sensitive and greatly dislikes being criticized. For gifts, he is easily won over by dairy foods - especially cheesecake! He also enjoys the taste of strawberries. The bland taste of potatoes can easily be a turn-off for him, though.

Lucas

Biography: Lucas moved to Noverno years ago, with his father (Bron). His dad owns the town inn, so you can often find him working at the bar, or cooking up some dishes. If you're lucky, you might find him practicing with his guitar, creating a sound that is sure to melt the hearts of unsuspecting females. He's good with a sword, which seems awfully suspicious, but his sweet smile keeps everyone from questioning his background.
Personality: Lucas is a pretty relaxed guy, rarely getting angry or upset over anything. He's got an eye for beautiful women, just like his father (only it's not creepy on him because he's young and handsome!). Despite his somewhat thuggish appearance, he can be a really agreeable person. He's a simple man that is quite easy to get along with.
Likes & Dislikes: He's got a thing for sassy, assertive girls especially, but any lady can get along with him easily. He's not very picky about friends, either, but a good sense of humor goes a long way. For gifts, he enjoys comfort food: alcoholic beverages and warm soups/stews. He's allergic to oranges, so feeding them to him is not the best idea.

Roderick

Biography: Roderick has lived a rough life, often scorned and mistreated because of his Eclantian blood - the fabled "cursed" tribe. He originally fought on the side of Brutanus in the great war, but ended up betraying his country when he saw the true madness of its late king. He now resides in Noverno, taken in by the blacksmith (Cypher), who needed a worthy and strong assistant. Roderick is very powerful, so his combat prowess is valuable.
Personality: As tensions with the Eclantians died down, Roderick still found himself unable to trust anyone around him. He makes very little effort to spare the feelings of others, or even make contact with them. Anyone that finds their way to his good side is sure to be met with a very loyal, protective friend.
Likes & Dislikes: Surprisingly, Roderick can be rather easy to get along with. Kind and thoughtful people, that are willing to look past his apparent aggression, can earn his trust. Annoying (or immature) people easily get on his nerves, as he does not like being teased. For gifts, he enjoys useful objects, such as ores. Anything made of beef is bound to win him over, but milk disgusts him.

Elliot


Biography: Elliot lives in Noverno with his sister, Summer. He is one of the two knights to patrol the town (the other being Diora). He previously lived in Berga, but after the war, he and his sister settled down in Noverno. Despite his social nature, he is also secretly attracted to the occult. He primarily relies on his superb defense in combat, but is also very capable with magic.
Personality: Elliot is respected by almost everyone because of his warm personality and chivalrous nature. He's a peaceful man, but can be a bit dramatic and overzealous when it comes to relationships.
Likes & Dislikes: Elliot gets along with most people (especially women), but contains a "white knight" syndrome that especially draws him to women that are more emotional. He has difficulty getting close to people that are detached, though. For gifts, he loves crystals and anything made with eggs. He doesn't enjoy the taste of tomatoes, though.

Diora

Biography: Diora was born and raised on a farm in Rewing, until she eventually left to become a knight at the capital. Her battle prowess was instantly a success, but her mental health suffered after a traumatic patrol. At some point during the war, she left Rewing and found her way into Kailah's army. Diora works as one of the town guards, constantly patrolling around and keeping everyone safe. In combat, she is a well-balanced warrior, favoring powerful attacks.
Personality: She's got a big heart, especially when it comes to caring for others, to the point of worrying over everything. Practicality comes rather naturally to her, too. Diora can be fairly serene, but she does possess a "darker half" when it comes to battle. This side of her is rather unstable, and undoubtedly caused by past trauma.
For some reason, shes gets along so well with Marlene, despite the two being polar opposites.
Likes & Dislikes: Diora can make friends with almost anyone, but maturity is something she seeks out of a relationship. She dislikes selfish, undependable people more than anything. For gifts, she can be a real health nut. She loves anything with fruits and vegetables (especially juice!). She doesn't want to eat fried food and most sweets, though.

Marlene

Biography: Marlene followed Diora to Noverno, since the two have been companions and friends for years. No one quite knows much about Marlene, but it is rumored that was orphaned. She excels both as a mage and rogue - she's quick on her feet, but also boasts about her killer fire magic. If you don't play as her, she'll take on a job at the library (despite her dislike of books).
Personality: Marlene is peppy, rebellious, quirky, and fun-loving. However independent she may appear, the past has deeply rooted a fear of abandonment within her. Very few people will ever know the truth behind why all of her actions seem like a cry out for attention.
Likes & Dislikes: Marlene is attracted to anyone that is fun, or fun to mess with. So, boring people bore her. For gifts, try giving her shiny jewelry or unhealthy, fried food. She hates raw food (vegetables or fish).
*She is canon with Clyde.


Ren

Biography: No one quite knows where she came from or why she's still here, except for that she's too lazy to leave and is enjoying a bit of quiet for once in her life (apparently). She came to Noverno with severe injuries and has been around ever since, living and working at the inn as a waitress. Ren fights primarily with as sword, using speed as her number one advantage.
Personality: Ren's got a sharp tongue that makes her seem downright unapproachable, and combat skills that are even sharper. Underneath her rough exterior, she's really just a lazy (albeit intelligent) girl that craves an easy life and delicious meals. Very little else seems to matter to her.
Likes & Dislikes: Ren is very independent, so she gets along with people that give her the space she needs. Clingy and moody people get on her nerves. She enjoys sweet treats, especially if chocolate is involved. Don't bring her flowers - she thinks they're useless.
*She is canon with Lucas.


Nadia

Biography: Nadia is the daughter of the general store's owner. Her family came from Rewing and made a life in Noverno years ago. In Rewing, she previously trained to be a knight, so her abilities are nothing to sneeze at. She's not very strong, but she is quick and overall well-balanced.
Personality: Unlike her cranky older sister, she gets along well with everyone and is especially sociable. It's not very difficult to get on her good side, because she seems to be happy ALL the time. Sometimes her optimism is to a fault, as she can be a bit naive (which almost always gets her into trouble).
Likes & Dislikes: Nadia loves everyone and anyone, especially if they are good, ethical people (or if she believes they are, deep down). She doesn't particularly dislike anyone, and getting on her bad side is very difficult. Nadia loves flowers and cute accessories, but hates mushrooms and anything with alcohol in it.

Elsie

Biography: Elsie is Grace's eldest daughter, and Nadia's big sister. She helps out at her mother's shop, but also likes to spend time gathering herbs and plants. She prefers to use magic in combat.
Personality: Elsie has a knack for not beating-around-the-bush and says exactly what's on her mind. She is very intelligent, calculating, and critical. Secretly, she goes through extreme lengths to hide her own sensitivity, in order to appear as the strong person her little sister knows her to be. She ultimately would prefer to live life in the shadows, instead of drawing attention to herself.
Likes & Dislikes: Elsie is drawn to people that are mature and responsible, but can't stand immaturity. She loves plants (including flowers), and really enjoys a nice cup of tea. Potions are also very useful to her, because she never can be too prepared. She dislikes all ores.

Kailah



Kailah has never been the prime example of a lady, which can partially be blamed on her being raised in a commoner setting, surrounded by only Leon, Vance, and Gaven (her foster father). She's quite stubborn, so changing her will result in failed attempts. Instead, she's the one that sets the trends and inspires those around her with her no-nonsense, assertive attitude. She can say whatever is on her mind, and will only spare the feelings of those that she actually likes (which is most people, thankfully). In general, she's easy to get along with and enjoys a round of jokes, even during important royal meetings. As the epitome of light, she's not afraid to balance mercy and swift justice. Luckily, she seems to always know what to do and can easily be depended on.


Leon



Leon is one of Queen Kailah's two generals (the second being his brother, Vance). The three of them grew up together, in a secluded Rewing territory, before fighting together to recapture Lhuvia. While Leon's other two companions enjoyed the adventure, he would have preferred to live a life of peace - there's no denying that he's the laziest of the trio. To his advantage, he's perhaps the most diplomatic when it comes to talking his way out of a conflict...unless he manages to get dragged down by his edgy twin brother. Leon loves two things more than anything: art and Kailah. He draws scenery quite well, but the only person he can seem to draw is the Queen herself. It's no secret to everyone that he's had a crush on her for many years - something that she prefers to not address. In combat, he is very skilled and quick on his feet...not that he prefers to fight.


Vance


Vance is Queen Kailah's second general and Leon's nonidentical twin brother. Unlike his brother, he is quite passionate and loves adventure and excitement. His hasty attitude gives him an unfortunate "meat-head" personality and he is not often complemented for his brain. In fact, one might stoop as low as to call him "naive", though his great will and strength makes him a more than capable person.  He doesn't always think things through, but his heart is in the right place and he's a very heroic man. At least...most of the time. Other times, he might lean a little more towards egotism. In combat, he makes a fierce, powerful companion and will never let his comrades down.


Cyphr


Cyphr, the blacksmith, often buries his real personality in gallons of alcoholic beverages. He spends a great deal of time working, but an even greater deal of time drinking. He leads others to believe that he has nothing to celebrate, so he chooses to celebrate every day. It's hard to tell if he's naturally dramatic or naturally lazy and relaxed - one of his sides is his drunken state, and the other is his true self. Either way, he proudly recognizes himself as a simple man. Although he will deny it, he's got a lot of heart and is open-minded to others (although, he has been known to tell a little white lie every now and then...).


Bron


Bron is easily recognized as the father of Lucas. Their personalities and appearance mirror each other's in a way that is a little creepy sometimes. Rest assured - they do have their differences! Although he tries to hide it, Bron is much more emotionally unstable and often relies on his level-headed son for great support. He's wrapped up in his conscience, often implying that he previously led a life without care or remorse (presumably until some traumatic event changed him and has shaken him ever since). His regrets are buried by his jolly nature and love for the ladies. The lengths he'll travel for a pretty face can easily be seen as a sad form of desperation, but he's sure that he's still got his charm, even with his good-looking son around to steal the eyes. He runs Noverno's tavern, and promises to earn his keep by helping out around town if they ever need it. As scummy as he may appear, he's a man of his word.


Grace


Grace is Nadia and Elsie's loving and caring mother. She and her daughters came to Noverno, where she would open up a much needed general store. Although she may act and appear frail, circumstances have made her into quite a strong-willed and independent woman. She enjoys peace and quiet, but will occasionally stop by the tavern for a drink with friends, such as Bron (despite his many failing attempts to swoon her). Her daughters always come first, but money comes second. She's great with managing finances and has picked up many crafts in order to make some extra cash. Grace has no combat experience and is physically weak, but has potential for both magic and stealth.


Thane


Thane is a deeply kind man, but his appearance is at first a bit creepy. He met Alita (his wife) when her father (Lord Mauntell) hired Thane as their family physician. After becoming mysteriously ill with what seemed to be dark magic, Thane's appearance changed. His skin turned pale and his hazel eyes changed to a beaming, garish yellow. He and Alita soon chose to run away together and eventually settled in Noverno, where they would own the town's clinic. Everyone instantly grew to like Thane, even with his awkward personality and strange sense of humor. Although he and Alita make a weird couple, the two are inseparable.


Alita


Alita is Clyde's adorable, spirited younger sister. Formerly a noblewoman, she abandoned her title to be beside the humble priest that she fell in love with (Thane). Although still fairly tender-aged, she is already married and living happily in Noverno where she and her husband run the town's clinic. She has a knack for all kinds of magic, but ultimately prefers to help Thane with healing practices. Her fiery temper serves as a reminder that she's equally capable of hurting and healing, should anyone get on nerves. Lightly put, she's the type of woman that knows how to get what she wants, or else she is known to throw adult tantrums. She's just as spoiled as her brother, but oddly tends to get along better with other people (no matter how sassy she can be).


Summer


Summer is Elliot's strange sister, and her quirky ways have been with her for as long as the both of them can remember. She doesn't appear to have any apparent emotions, but rather takes almost everything as a joke. When she's not joking, everyone tends to think she is anyways. She has a bit of a hardy nature, and seldom displays feminine behavior. Overall, it's very challenging to predict how Summer is going to act next.

*She will replace the job role of whoever the player chooses. Ex: She will become a blacksmith if you play as Roderick.

Choose Your Hero - You get to choose your hero out of the ten bachelors and bachelorettes! With each hero is a different beginning, and a different personality.

Combat - Not only are you capable with the fields, but you're also capable with the keels! (lol) When the going gets tough, you're prepared to venture out of the safety of your little town and destroy the dangerous beasts that lurk outside. This isn't a task to be handled alone, though! Your trusty comrades are non other than the villagers that you associate with. Invite them along, and you're sure to have better odds! Just don't keep them past bedtime - they're only human, after all!

Farming - Many games have used farming before, but this one strives to make the process more rewarding and less complicated. Crops grow during any season, with greater bounties for harvesting them in their "native" seasons. All you'll need is a Watering Can and a Shovel! If the rain doesn't water the crops for you, the can will do the trick. These crops are pretty sturdy and sufficient, so they won't die unless you dig them up! Without water, they can sustain, but can not grow.

Crafting & Cooking - Sometimes, you don't even need to farm to earn some cash. You can make a good deal of money just from putting your crafty skills to good use! Materials for all kinds of crafts can be bought, found, mined, or taken from defeated foes.

Relationships - Noverno Township is defined by its people, so why not get to know them? You can make friends by talking, giving gifts, and saying the right things at the right times. Be careful, though. Someone might just fall in love with you!

A little update! More features that I forgot I needed. And all placeholder maps that have to do with the farm are complete. B]

Spoiler for Fodder Storage System:
Okay, so ignore the fact that there's two of the same character. :V The other one was the first I picked to sit as a "test" that gives you fodder, etc, and will not stay in the game.


The system is pretty basic - you choose to "Store" or "Take" fodder from the storage. What I spent all my time on was making the system allow the player to take all or store all. Basically, if the player tries to store 90 Fodder while only carrying 10, the system will automatically store what you do have - the 10. That way, if you don't want to go to a specific number but would prefer to just store everything you have, just hit one key to go to a ridiculous max number and it will store what you do have.

You can take fodder in a similar method. If you try to carry more than 99, RPG Maker will basically "kill" the extras by default, so I set up the storage to know how much you can still carry so that you can't exceed that number and none of it is wasted. For example, if you are carrying 80 fodder and try to take out 20, the system does the math and only has you take out 19.

Gonna do the same thing for the lumber storage, too! *__*

Spoiler for Farm animals:
The animal events are still a WIP, but I've got the basic features done.

Feeding - Your animals don't die when you forget to feed them, but they do lose affection towards the player. I'm still considering this one. I'll probably let the player sell their animals if you really wanna get rid of them.
Brushing - You will have a brush that you can use to increase affection by brushing your animals once a day.
Items - Your animals will drop items for you once a day, as long as they are fed. Depending on how much the animal likes you, they will give you better quality goods. Cows give Milk, Sheep drop Wool, and Chickens lay Eggs.

The max Cows/Sheep you can have in the Barn is 8. You can also have 8 Chickens in the Coop. I'm also considering adding in different colored animals, to make telling your animals apart easier.

I'm also probably going to add in a horse and pets (a choice between a dog or cat). :]

Thanks, Chaos! :) Rune Factory is pretty awesome. I tried it out recently because I was in a Harvest Moon mood and Malson was like "why not just try RF instead?" So, we ended up getting a HM and RF game and...welp, it quickly became one of my favorites. I've been playing RF4 and...wow. There's a ton of effort put into those games. I def recommend them to anyone that likes HM (in fact, I can't even go back to HM after playing RF ;_; )

Years ago, Clyde lived a pampered life of luxury with absolutely no worries. Because of his sheltered childhood, he's a bit of a stuck-up jerk on the surface, often obsessively talking about himself. His snotty qualities aren't frowned upon, but rather have become a point of amusement for the other villagers. Growing up, Clyde became a skilled hunter simply because he was bored and enjoyed a little excitement in life. Everything changed when his sister, Alita, was disowned by their father for getting engaged to a peasant priest (Thane). Clyde left home to search for his sister, and with no place to go, he ended up living with Alita and her fiance in Noverno. Although he constantly complains about missing his wealthy lifestyle, Clyde has never been happier.

*If the player chooses Clyde as the main character, he will move into the farm and stop living with Thane and Alita.

Anyone that likes working with the database might be needed, too. :-) I've considered getting another writer on board, but I'm a little worried that having too many different writing styles floating around might get confusing. Double-Posting to update the game's progress :-) (I'll probably copy this post to my second post, too!) Pretty bulky post incoming (no need to read it unless you want the crunchy details):

Here's some of the features I've got done so far:

The pathfinding system is basically all set up! I'm using a common event for each map to check the time and determine if someone should be moving at that time. There's a position remembering script in place, so if you walk indoors and walk back out, the NPC will continue walking from where they left off when you walked in the door!

I've got an event set up that refreshes your HUD's color, so you'll have a different color HUD and Menu, based on what character you choose! :-) Also planning on letting the player change HUD colors in game.

Speaking of...the menu is almost complete! :-) Just gotta move a couple things around (such as getting rid of "status" and putting the relationships menu in its place). The equipment menu is going to be rearranged a bit, too. I destroyed the leveling system in favor of the player getting better by equipping better gear. I also limited how much the player can equip, in order to simplify the system. I don't think it's necessary to wear 10 different things that all increase defense. So, instead, the focus is on Weapons (ATK/CRIT/MAT) and Armor (DEF/AGI/MDF). Accessories will cover any other needs.

I've also basically got the dialogue system all set up! :-) Now, just a loooooot of writing and plugging in left to do. o_o When I said I was going for a "detailed" dialogue system, I meant reaaally detailed. o_o Dialogue and eventing are my favorite. ;_;

Using Yanfly's call event script, I can summon any page at any given time! This event is on an unused map, and all I have to do is call her from my used maps, instead of copy/pasting all of this on every event ever used for that character.

-The first page is Ren's "greeting" - varying by time of day and how much she likes the player.
-The second page is called (using that script) whenever you choose to "talk" to her. It randomly determines if she will talk to you about something normal, something related to your friendship levels, or something special.
-The third page is when she talks to you about something Normal - she has 25 "normal" things to say.
-The fourth page is when she says something special. If she doesn't like you enough, the event will throw her dialogue back to the "normal" conversations.
-The fifth page is for when she talks to you about something "special" - basically giving you the option to raise your friendship by saying things that she likes.
-The sixth page is "special 2" - triggered after you already talk to her about something special so you can't replay the conversation and rack up infinite affection points.
-The seventh page is for "events" - festivals, birthdays, etc. She'll say something different on those days.
-The eight page is for "gifts" - if you select to give her a gift, this gets called to determine if she likes it or not.
-The ninth page is for "joining" - basically, if she'll join you on an adventure or not. Based on time of the day and affection.
-Finally, the tenth page is for if she's you're "lover" - she will have a small list of girlfriend/wife things to say.

Haha, thanks! :-) I'm an organization nut, to be honest.

Being one person, I won't be able to have *as much* stuff for them to say. ;9 Probably gonna keep normal stuff to 25, friend stuff to 10-15, etc. So, maybe about 50-60 things per character.

However, that character is set say the same thing all day (like in Rune Factory). So, if Ren talks about the weather being stupid, she'll stay on that until her event gets reset the next day. :)  I think it will overall help the game feel less repetitive (lol wait) and make it where people aren't just refreshing the characters all day to see what they say (I dunno who does that? me, I guess D:<). I just feel somewhat annoyed with the way animal crossing does it, because it's like the character is mood changing like crazy.

Another crucial thing done in RF is that the characters like you if you talk to them at least once a day. So, the first time you talk to them that day, they'll like you a little more.

Also, instead of spamming gifts, I've always liked how RF allows you to give them one gift per day, and everything else doesn't count. It's both annoying an beneficial, so I haven't decided if I'm going to go for it yet or not. I mean, instead of farming gifts all day, people can focus on other things. Between actual farming, dungeon fighting, etc, there's typically a lot more to do with your day in RF games. B)

Marlene

Marlene excels both as a mage and rogue - she's quick on her feet, but also boasts about her killer fire magic. She is a girl of many traits: most prominently a Pyromaniac, Kleptomaniac, and...well, just a maniac. Her peppy, yet rebellious behavior is perhaps the result of an attempt to relive and replace her terrible childhood with a happier one. She's made a ton of progress since Diora found her and gave her a place to stay, and a good friend to rely on. The only thing that will never change about Marlene is her quirky, fun-loving personality. However independent she may appear, the past has deeply rooted a fear of abandonment within her. Very few people will ever know the truth behind why all of her actions seem like a cry out for attention.

*If you play as Marlene, she will move out of Diora's house and live on the farm. Even though she's better at destroying stuff than growing stuff.
*Marlene is canon with Clyde, often enjoying jokes at his expense a little too much.

It takes place after TLP! :-)

By the way, a lot of the names were changed up because the characters developed into people that are quite different from who/what they were originally named as. That's why we have Diora, Marlene, and Lucas. Lucas was previously known as Lloyd, and you can probably guess who Diora and Marlene are. :] They've also undergone several changes in my attempts to remake the game, so Diora now has brown hair (instead of blue) and Marlene's hair got cut. Artimus is going to get changed to "Arthemes", since I decided that I shouldn't have him named after a female god. :V Ren's hair became blonde just now (for this game), lol. She's kept her purple hair everywhere else, so that was a last minute decision.

And let's see...I don't know what else I plan on having changed! I'm going to add in new characters - Bron (Lucas' father) and Grace (Nadia/Elsie's mother). (I needed more old people, so they're just kinda thrown in, but I already like them ;_; ).

Actually, right now the weather system is pretty stupidly simple. :( It came with that delicious time script, so I'm leaving it with an "all day effect"...for now! I kinda like the predictable nature of that. It makes things a bit easier to work with, so you know when to not water your crops. I can't tell you how many times RF got me with that one.

Arthemes

No one knows much about him, other than that he came from Grenada, the "cold kingdom" (which explains the surplus in how much clothing he wears). For some reason, he doesn't appear bothered by the change in climate, nor much of anything else. He keeps to himself mostly, except when you give him an excuse to talk about something interesting. He often uses his sharp intellect to cover up his emotional core. Both aspects of his character contribute to his great ability to see straight through people. In combat, he is adept with all kinds of magic, especially Ice (no surprises there). For some reason, he seems almost like he's holding back his magic...like perhaps he's actually way more powerful than he's letting on. ...Maybe?

*Arthemes will typically live at the castle and pass the time selling magic at the library. If you play as him, he will instead decide to take a crack at farmwork.
*He is canon with Diora.

Nadia

Nadia is the general store owner's adorable, happy-go-lucky daughter. Unlike her cranky older sister, she gets along well with everyone and is especially sociable. It's not very difficult to get on her good side, because she seems to be happy ALL the time. Sometimes her optimism is to a fault, as she can be a bit naive (which almost always gets her into trouble). Luckily, her big sister is around to scare away all the creeps that might try to take advantage of that. Nadia previously trained to be a knight, so her combat skills are nothing to sneeze at. She's not particularly strong, but she's quick and overall well-balanced.

*Nadia will somehow muster the courage to move out on her own if you choose her to play as.
*She is canon with Roderick, perhaps being the only person that can put up with his bad attitude (you'll see).

Now that my GIAW project is done with, my attention is shifted back to this game! ;)

I'm still looking for a mapper and/or character spriter. B) I'm going to try to keep the graphics fairly simple because I'm being FPS conscious this time around. For the icons and crops, I was originally going to work with Celianna's stuff, but I might just use some RF rips, because they have literally everything I'll need and they don't look too bad with RPG Maker's stuff. ;)



There's a couple of things that I forgot to post before the GIAW even started - namely, that the menu system is complete! Thanks to Lord Stark and Euphoria, everything is edited to fit the game well. <3 ;_;

Sorry to spam update. ;_; So proud of this and want to share it with the class <3 The character selection is all done! ^_^ 100% evented and controlled by using the <- and -> keys!

First, you choose if you want to be a Male of Female character:


Next, you can flip through all characters of that selected gender! I haven't set exact birth dates yet, nor do all characters have faces yet. "Z" lets you select that character, and "X" brings you back to the gender select menu! B) Also, the arrows are animated. *_*

It took me a good chunk of time, but I am pleased to announce that the farming system is 100% complete! Here's a little screenshot (still using a sample map):


*The crops in the above picture have been watered. Also, The actual farming area will likely be much larger than that, depending on lag control. Also (again), I used RF sprites for the crops.


Farming Features
Many of these features are similar to the basic HM/RF features, only simplified. The simplified methods were altered not only to accommodate my laziness, but also done so that they would be easier on the player.
  • 23 Crops total, including flowers and grass.
  • NO tilling the soil first. I've always seen this as tedious and pointless. When maps are complete, the planting areas will appear different from any other ground tiles, so you'll know where you can plant seeds.
  • The Watering Can does NOT run out of water. Although this feature makes the game unrealistic, I think I prefer it. Not just because I'm lazy, but because who doesn't really hate having to run and refill the water all the time?
  • Rainy weather will automatically water your crops for you!
  • When you harvest a crop, you will receive multiple of it. Having 1,000 planting spots in RPG Maker will create agonizing lag. To make up for less planting space, each harvest will give the player (on average) 3 of that crop.
  • Rather than using crops that "regrow", certain crops will give the player extra harvest. This isn't quite as cool, but it's a much more simple process.
  • You can plant crops in any season and they do NOT die. However, each crop will have a "native" season. Harvesting those crops in that designated season will give you more of the plant.
  • Plants can NOT die if you don't water them. Wut? Instead, they will cease to grow until you do water them. This was a hard decision to make, but me and my sister agreed that it was best. With a game involving dungeons and other stuff, sometimes it's a pain in the buttocks to have to go back every morning and water those darn crops. We feel as if this takes some of the pressure off of the farming aspect of the game and is possibly even more fun, even if it's a bit unrealistic.
  • If you do want to remove your crops for whatever reason, the player can use a shovel to dig them up (and destroy them).

The player can choose between 5 people. :] So, if you choose to play as Lucas, you can marry Diora, Marlene, Ren, Nadia, or Elsie.

The "canon" partners were thrown in just in case I decide to let the NPCs get married (still considering that one). If I did throw in NPC marriages, the NPC's top pick will be their canon partner. So, Lucas would choose Ren, unless the player married Ren already. For example: Let's say you play as Clyde and marry Ren (Lucas' canon partner). In that case, Lucas would marry Clyde's canon partner, Marlene. Does that make sense? :]

Something that I considered greatly before making the game was whether or not I would make the player a third person entirely, instead of letting the player choose between the bachelors and bachelorettes. On the down-side, it takes away an NPC from the environment in order to make that NPC a player. It also seems like it will be a lot of work to write for all the different characters, but I've found ways to work around this. On the plus-side, it gives the player a lot of options, personalities, and unique intros. It also helps to differentiate the game a bit from it's influence, the Rune Factory series. It's still a decision that I go back and forth on, but I think what's best is that I stick with it now and keep moving forward. :]

Ahhh, so that's what you were asking! Okay, I was just a confused derp. ;_; I'll just go ahead and be honest. I just sort of let my characters develop to be whatever fits them. The last thing I want is to create a stereotype. ;9 Whenever I do develop a character that ends up being homosexual, I want their personality to come first! :)

Roderick



Roderick has lived a rough life, often scorned and mistreated because of his Eclantian blood - the fabled "cursed" tribe. As tensions with the Eclantians died down, Roderick still found himself unable to trust anyone around him. He has no desire to win over the hearts of others, so saying exactly what's on his mind (no matter how harsh) comes naturally for him. He doesn't like to talk to others very much, but what has been gathered is that he previously fought in the war and seems to enjoy battle. Many conceive the idea that he is quite bloodthirsty and uncivilized, but he can be a very respectful man if someone goes through the efforts of getting to know him. Anyone that finds their way to his good side is sure to be met with a very loyal, protective friend.

*Roderick is canon with the oh-so-cute Nadia.
*If you choose to play as Roderick, he will simply move into the farm instead of working as a blacksmith.

Of the current bachelors I think I would choose Lucas but reading some descriptions I see something it could be problematic... If the main character you choose runs a shop who's going to take his/her place? Because if I understand it correctly if you choose Roderick there's no blacksmith at all in your town... I hope I misunderstand it...

Oh, gosh, I know the feeling! *___* I often struggle to pick someone to marry in HM/RF because I felt creepy marrying what looked like young boys. ;___;

Roderick works with a guy named "Cyphr" - some old, short dude that's always drunk. :V Cyphr is the one that actually owns the blacksmith shop, and Roderick works under him. Actually, there's always going to be at least 2 people working at each place, in order to give the other some time off! There's a certain NPC, Summer, that will fill the position of whoever you choose as the player. Her brother (who will be the final bachelor!) talks her into getting a job, so no matter who you pick, she'll take their job. Even if that means selling magic at the library...which she will be sure to constantly complain about! ;o

Needs more manly strong-arm lumberjack type bachelors.

I've noticed that two of my bachelors look very masculine, and two look like rich pretty boys. The last one is going to be a mix between knight and pretty boy. :V Originally, Arthemes was supposed to be pretty masculine, too, but he came out looking more like Clyde's build. ;_; But I guess I like him this way. B) And Clyde was supposed to be the least masculine.

That being said, there's going to be at least 2 or 3 buff, bearded dudes in town that aren't bachelors. ...Maybe that's a bit too much manliness for one town, though. o_o (Out of 19 characters?)

*edit* Once the last two are done, maybe I'll put up a poll or something. *_* I can't decide whether to ask "who would be your main character" or "who would you marry". D:

Also, no worries! I went ahead and started making map concepts and placeholders. :] It shouldn't be too hard to replace them later on, too!



A little update! More features that I forgot I needed. And all placeholder maps that have to do with the farm are complete. B]

Spoiler for Fodder Storage System:
Okay, so ignore the fact that there's two of the same character. :V The other one was the first I picked to sit as a "test" that gives you fodder, etc, and will not stay in the game.


The system is pretty basic - you choose to "Store" or "Take" fodder from the storage. What I spent all my time on was making the system allow the player to take all or store all. Basically, if the player tries to store 90 Fodder while only carrying 10, the system will automatically store what you do have - the 10. That way, if you don't want to go to a specific number but would prefer to just store everything you have, just hit one key to go to a ridiculous max number and it will store what you do have.

You can take fodder in a similar method. If you try to carry more than 99, RPG Maker will basically "kill" the extras by default, so I set up the storage to know how much you can still carry so that you can't exceed that number and none of it is wasted. For example, if you are carrying 80 fodder and try to take out 20, the system does the math and only has you take out 19.

Gonna do the same thing for the lumber storage, too! *__*

Spoiler for Farm animals:
The animal events are still a WIP, but I've got the basic features done.

Feeding - Your animals don't die when you forget to feed them, but they do lose affection towards the player. I'm still considering this one. I'll probably let the player sell their animals if you really wanna get rid of them.
Brushing - You will have a brush that you can use to increase affection by brushing your animals once a day.
Items - Your animals will drop items for you once a day, as long as they are fed. Depending on how much the animal likes you, they will give you better quality goods. Cows give Milk, Sheep drop Wool, and Chickens lay Eggs.

The max Cows/Sheep you can have in the Barn is 8. You can also have 8 Chickens in the Coop. I'm also considering adding in different colored animals, to make telling your animals apart easier.

I'm also probably going to add in a horse and pets (a choice between a dog or cat). :]

More commonly known as "Nadia's sister", Elsie tends to leave a less positive impact. It's not that she's a bad person, nor does anyone really dislike her. She just has a knack for not beating-around-the-bush and says exactly what's on her mind. Yet, Elsie goes through extreme lengths to hide her own sensitivity, in order to appear as the strong person her little sister knows her to be. She's very intelligent and gifted with magic, but prefers not to draw attention to herself. Unlike her sister, she's not out to make friends with everyone.

*If the player chooses to play as Elsie, she will move out of her current home (the shop that her mom owns).
*Elsie is canon with Elliot.

I just feel sorry for other girls (especially Diora and Nadia), because there was only 1 vote, and I had really hard time, trying to figure out which girl should I give this vote. Because, actually, no one of them five looks like "my favorite girl type".
So, to be honest, I failed to choose between their personalities. Thats why...

Hahaha, that honestly made my day! B) Yes, Ren's hairstyle tends to be very popular. ;o

I actually kind of expected Diora to be low on votes, because her personality is so hard to define. She stands out the most when she shows her "other side" - which is basically a half-crazy, battle thirsty wench. At first glance, she may appear like a "stereotypical maternal female". Aside from the fact that she fights like a demon. ;) But personality aside, and looks-wise...I dunno. :V They're all really pretty. ;o;

As for Elsie, I'm not sure. o.o Her character is probably going to see some of the most development, alongside Marlene. They both have traumatizing childhood events that make them the way they are - which ended up showing in totally different ways. Elsie is the more harsh, guarded one, and Marlene is the one that refuses to grow up.

I'm planning on having each of them have some super important event that tells you a great deal more about them (if they like you a certain amount). *__*

I want to play as Arthemes and Roderick, and marry Diora and Nadia. Yes, aiming for canon pairings   :)

Two things to post now! ;__; First, the final male is all done!! That means I'll be changing the poll at the top. B) Many of the girls were tied in votes, so the female in the special artwork is going to be random between the highest votes. ;o


Elliot



Elliot is respected by almost everyone because of his warm personality and calm nature. He gets along well with women especially, often seen as the epitome of chivalry - a "Prince Charming" bachelor. He's a peaceful man, but can be a bit dramatic and overzealous when it comes to relationships. Despite his social nature, he is also secretly attracted to the occult. He primarily relies on his superb defense in combat, but is also very capable with magic.

*Elliot will move out of his house and into the farm if he is the main character. His sister (Summer) will take over his previous home.
*Elliot is canon with Elsie.



And next...a map! Well, more like my experimentation with parallax mapping, to get a better idea of what I want to do. Whether we go with this or not isn't assured yet. But here's a rough idea of what we might do:

Kailah



Kailah has never been the prime example of a lady, which can partially be blamed on her being raised in a commoner setting, surrounded by only Leon, Vance, and Gaven (her foster father). She's quite stubborn, so changing her will result in failed attempts. Instead, she's the one that sets the trends and inspires those around her with her no-nonsense, assertive attitude. She can say whatever is on her mind, and will only spare the feelings of those that she actually likes (which is most people, thankfully). In general, she's easy to get along with and enjoys a round of jokes, even during important royal meetings. As the epitome of light, she's not afraid to balance mercy and swift justice. Luckily, she seems to always know what to do and can easily be depended on.

I've been getting some work done with maps lately, but school likes to get in the way. :V Luckily, my sister managed to finish another NPC! ;_;


Leon



Leon is one of Queen Kailah's two generals (the second being his brother, Vance). The three of them grew up together, in a secluded Rewing territory, before fighting together to recapture Lhuvia. While Leon's other two companions enjoyed the adventure, he would have preferred to live a life of peace - there's no denying that he's the laziest of the trio. To his advantage, he's perhaps the most diplomatic when it comes to talking his way out of a conflict...unless he manages to get dragged down by his edgy twin brother. Leon loves two things more than anything: art and Kailah. He draws scenery quite well, but the only person he can seem to draw is the Queen herself. It's no secret to everyone that he's had a crush on her for many years - something that she prefers to not address. In combat, he is very skilled and quick on his feet...not that he prefers to fight.

I've started making the permanent maps! Been going through a graphical phase! I switch between writing, graphics, and mechanics when I get bored ;] Anyways, here's how the maps are generally going to look:

I got tired of parallax mapping because of how time consuming it is (not to mention how much FPS the game will have when I use too many pictures at a time). But I also didn't want to use tilesets because of how little flexibility they offer. Sooo, I went for something in-between. ;] Also have a version of everything complete for all four seasons. Winter was a pain. :mad:

Vance


Vance is Queen Kailah's second general and Leon's nonidentical twin brother. Unlike his brother, he is quite passionate and loves adventure and excitement. His hasty attitude gives him an unfortunate "meat-head" personality and he is not often complemented for his brains. In fact, one might stoop as low as to call him "naive", though his great will and strength makes him a more than capable person.  He doesn't always think things through, but his heart is in the right place and he's a very heroic man. At least...most of the time. Other times, he might lean a little more towards egotism. In combat, he makes a fierce, powerful companion and will never let his comrades down.

Alita


Alita is Clyde's adorable, spirited younger sister. Formerly a noblewoman, she abandoned her title to be beside the humble priest that she fell in love with (Thane). Although still fairly tender-aged, she is already married and living happily in Noverno where she and her husband run the town's clinic. She has a knack for all kinds of magic, but ultimately prefers to help Thane with healing practices. Her fiery temper serves as a reminder that she's equally capable of hurting and healing, should anyone get on nerves. Lightly put, she's the type of woman that knows how to get what she wants, or else she is known to throw adult tantrums. She's just as spoiled as her brother, but oddly tends to get along better with other people (no matter how sassy she can be).

Thanks, Euphoria! :) Oddly enough, I just got sick, too. ;9 Hopefully not as sick as you were, but enough to make me stay in bed most of the day. I think Dayquil and video games are going to become my best friend over these next couple days (when I'm not fighting through school, work, or homework). ;_;

I've still been working hard on this, I promise. Mostly mapping lately. ;] I'll get even more progress done once I beat Dishonored (my soul has been sold to that game for the past week or so...). My sister, on the other hand, is moving much quicker than me and even managed to finish another NPC! o.o


Thane


Thane is a deeply kind man, but his appearance is at first a bit creepy. He met Alita (his wife) when her father (Lord Mauntell) hired Thane as their family physician. After becoming mysteriously ill with what seemed to be dark magic, Thane's appearance changed. His skin turned pale and his hazel eyes changed to a beaming, garish yellow. He and Alita soon chose to run away together and eventually settled in Noverno, where they would own the town's clinic. Everyone instantly grew to like Thane, even with his awkward personality and strange sense of humor. Although he and Alita make a weird couple, the two are inseparable.

Summer


Summer is Elliot's strange sister, and her quirky ways have been with her for as long as the both of them can remember. She doesn't appear to have any apparent emotions, but rather takes almost everything as a joke. When she's not joking, everyone tends to think she is anyways. She has a bit of a hardy nature, and seldom displays feminine behavior. Overall, it's very challenging to predict how Summer is going to act next.

*She will replace the job role of whoever the player chooses. Ex: She will become a blacksmith if you play as Roderick.

Cyphr


Cyphr, the blacksmith, often buries his real personality in gallons of alcoholic beverages. He spends a great deal of time working, but an even greater deal of time drinking. He leads others to believe that he has nothing to celebrate, so he chooses to celebrate every day. It's hard to tell if he's naturally dramatic or naturally lazy and relaxed - one of his sides is his drunken state, and the other is his true self. Either way, he proudly recognizes himself as a simple man. Although he will deny it, he's got a lot of heart and is open-minded to others (although, he has been known to tell a little white lie every now and then...).

Bron


Bron is easily recognized as the father of Lucas. Their personalities and appearance mirror each other's in a way that is a little creepy sometimes. Rest assured - they do have their differences! Although he tries to hide it, Bron is much more emotionally unstable and often relies on his level-headed son for great support. He's wrapped up in his conscience, often implying that he previously led a life without care or remorse (presumably until some traumatic event changed him and has shaken him ever since). His regrets are buried by his jolly nature and love for the ladies. The lengths he'll travel for a pretty face can easily be seen as a sad form of desperation, but he's sure that he's still got his charm, even with his good-looking son around to steal the eyes. He runs Noverno's tavern, and promises to earn his keep by helping out around town if they ever need it. As scummy as he may appear, he's a man of his word.

Grace is Nadia and Elsie's loving and caring mother. She and her daughters came to Noverno, where she would open up a much needed general store. Although she may act and appear frail, circumstances have made her into quite a strong-willed and independent woman. She enjoys peace and quiet, but will occasionally stop by the tavern for a drink with friends, such as Bron (despite his many failing attempts to swoon her). Her daughters always come first, but money comes second. She's great with managing finances and has picked up many crafts in order to make some extra cash. Grace has no combat experience and is physically weak, but has potential for both magic and stealth.

HI

After a period of hiatus, The Lhuvia Tales is finally ready to bounce back! To be honest, I suffered a bit of a motivation-crush while making this game, mostly due to my waning interest in the series I based it off of (Rune Factory). Alas, that it is the problem with fleeting fan-related games. At this point, Lhuvia Tales is getting a bit of a makeover. The feature changes aren't too different, I just intend to expand more on the adventure aspects of the game.

As for the look of the game? That's going to change quite a bit, mostly to match with Celianna's new tileset. Aco suggested I go for a more medieval-look for the houses (also inspired by Celianna's work), so I figured the new style was worth a shot. Here's a sneak peak at LT's new style:

I made both of those houses in the past 2 days, I think? :] Once I get two more houses done, the first half of Noverno will be complete. Then, I just need to make the Market stuff. ;o The houses take a little while to make, but they are sooo worth it. You had a great suggestion, and I love the new look! ;~; I've been on such a mapping kick lately...I might as well make the most of it, while it lasts. ;o

The houses (and water) are going to be the most custom items of each map. Instead of parallaxing the whole map, I tailored the pieces to look more parallaxed. It's going to save an incredible amount of time, make passability errors less frequent, and still look pretty cool. B)


Thoughts on the HUD? It might get changed in the future, but I still think its an incredible improvement over the last one. :yuyu:

I actually have an update, too! :] I've started to work on the dialogue again and developed a really cool technique. The daunting thing about creating dialogue for 10 different player characters is making them each have something unique to say. I started out giving the player generic responses, and that just didn't feel right. To remedy that, I came up with a fairly easy way to make each character say more unique stuff. It's hard to explain, but I'll try. ;~;

Spoiler for If you want to read about it:
I created four categories of responses: 1) Moody vs. Cold, 2) Gentle vs. Harsh, 3) Extrovert vs. Introvert, 4) Funny vs. Serious. For each character, one trait is selected from each category. So, they are all "assigned" personality traits that look sort of like a Myers Briggs assessment. For example, Marlene is CHEF (Cold, Harsh, Extrovert, Funny). During dialogue with NPCs, the player will be given the chance to respond accordingly by where they are placed in each category.


Ignore the funny slashes and text codes. :B What I'm referring to is the "Gentle or Harsh", followed by the table. At that time, the player will say one or the other, depending on if they are placed in that group. The "Gentle" characters (basically, the "nice ones") will say the first option (Lucas, Elliot, Diora, Nadia). The "Harsh" statement (#2) is said by the other characters. My choice of category names was kind of stupid, but I didn't want to have repeating first letters. More like "sensitive" and "blunt", but whatever. .___.

I should also mention that every character has a different overall type, so no one will say 100% the same things. This might seem really time-consuming, but it really doesn't add on much more (just a little extra copy/pasting). Well worth it to me. :}

*Also note that this only applies to the player's responses. Each NPC is going to have their own dialogue and their personalities are less controlled lol

it doesn't really feel like one whole. the pieces feel like separate things
the vines don't really interact with the wood, and the words are sitting on them.
i was thinking if you removed the green the letters would look like it had been etched or burnt into the wood

Thank you, friends! <3 I'll go ahead and admit that I was wrong to avoid parallax mapping. The other way saves more work in the long run, but it doesn't look as good and can be a pain in the butt to set up the tiles.

when is this going to be done

At this rate, not very soon. ;9 But we've been making plans to cut out some of the extra fluff and place more emphasis on other aspects of the game. We're still not sure exactly how "Harvest Moon-y" we want the game to be. Right now, it's a tossup between making something more Dragon Age style, or more Rune Factory style. I figured a mix between would be cool, to place more emphasis on the actual game and less on "I planted crops and found love. Now what?"

We actually tweaked some of the character's appearances. :> These are the characters that are getting only slight changes. Some characters are getting massive makeovers in the future, so prepare uranus.

Clyde now wears pants, instead of his weird man-skirt thing. His armor is also slightly more fancy. ;o


Lucas got some minor facial edits (he looked really weird when facing the opposite side) and his arm became more manly. :B


First of all, blue hair. Not sure how you guys feel about that, so I'd like to get some opinions on this one. She originally had blue hair when I first created her for a FE hack project, and we went back to it because it looks neat with the pink armor. Her armor is also noticeably more fancy, to accommodate her knightly status.


Marlene's hair is now a brighter shade of pink, and her eyes look more "fiery". She also got buttons. :B


Ren's hair outline got lighter and we added a wicked fishnet glove!


We always thought Nadia's outfit was a little bland, so we added some new pieces. She is meant to look more like a "mage-knight" now. ;o

Looks cute! *o* Always good to see progress! I've been making a little bit of progress on my end, mostly with non-visual stuff (mechanics p much). ;9

Dr.Mc is making some pretty serious progress and tweaking some of the faces...which is a bit of an understatement. There were several characters that we thought looked a little off, especially anatomy-wise. Also a lot of "blank stare" faces. Some characters are getting a complete redraw...which I know we probably shouldn't be doing, but she's doing one heck of a job with them so far. o.o We're also thinking that some of the characters are also going to slightly shift poses with emotions, which will make them look a little less awkward.

Outfits and hair (etc) will still stay the same, so there shouldn't be any changes that would require adjusting the sprites. :D

I know hardly anyone is on RMRK anymore, but I just want to update and say that we're still working on this! ;o In fact, we made a full switch to MV and then some. The game has a basic mechanics alpha complete and is in the process of receiving the second half of its mechanics. We've been working even harder than ever on it! We've shifted most of our updates to a private trello and just haven't had the time to post in both places. ;_; Also rmrk is sort of dead. RIP.

After years of going back and forth, the game is more focused than it's ever been. More emphasis on creating the mechanics first, saving the pretty stuff for later. That doesn't mean we don't have a few lovely samples, though!

Here's a few major changes (in a nutshell):

- The game swapped to a blacksmithing sim but has returned to its roots (pun intended) as a farming game. All of the farming mechanics are done (could use some polish) and so are the basic ranching mechanics.
- There are no longer multiple main characters. This was the game's biggest crutch. ;_; Now you can play as either a male or female version of a specified protagonist (just like Harvest Moon).

And here's a few teasers! ;o

- A few new characters are being added, including 1 new romanceable male option! Summer is now able to be romanced, as well.
- 4 of the characters (2 men, 2 women) will be available for same-sex marriage. These characters will be: Lucas, Cassius (new character), Ren, and Summer
- Stuff is looking / behaving better than ever~ We're all getting better at what we do. DrMc and Aco are creating some flawless graphics. I actually know code now (to some extent!), so the game itself functions on a more powerful level than it ever has (more crops, custom menus / systems, etc).

too lazy to redo the thread (rmrk dead anyways), but there's a lot of changes and progress.

So here's a quick and dirty status update for anyone that happens to stumble here:

Alpha (mechanics) - 80%
Beta (visuals / content) - 15% (rough estimate - mostly Aco sprites...go, Aco! :))

Core part of the game is nearing completion (there's a lot of mechanics too...yay!). Then it's all polish, prettiness, and content!
