I feel foolish for saying this, I think I'm just overlooking it, but I can't...actually find these options for trainer image and such? Do I have to catch at least one pokemon first or something? Now that I think about it, I could almost swear I've never actually seen one.

But I still would assert that I don't think I've ever seen one. I have noscript, but RMRK is allowed. I have ABP, but I don't THINK I have anything blocked from RMRK itself in there... what's up with that? :O

There's an update button in the favorite 'mon box, and an update button in the trainer box.

This is probably something you have planned, but I think it would be neat to be able to see a list of people who have a specific Pokemon. Basic example: I own Xatu, so clicking on its image displays a list of users who also own Xatu. Clicking on Pokemon you've only seen would also show users who actually own it, which would be useful for whenever you decide to implement trading.

I saw a Metapod on Roph's second post, clicked it and then it told me I'd captured a Kabutops. I was happy but confused.

That's.. odd. And doesn't make sense. From sighting to capture, the pokemon is stored in your session data. Whether you capture or fail to capture, the pokemon is cleared. If you take so long to capture that your session has changed or expired, it's hidden behind the "ran away!" message, as opposed to a failed capture ("escaped!").

How long did you take before viewing / capturing? I can try adding some additional checks either way.

[edit] Actually, if you had multiple tabs open and saw a metapod on one and a kabutops on the second, whichever one you saw most recently would be tried in the capturing. I can't think of any other way this would happen - when you encounter a new pokemon, your pokemon session data is explicitly cleared refreshed with the newly encountered pokemon. You can't have more than one active encounter going on. A new one overwrites an old one.

Since we're probably doing a reset anyway, I think it'd be cool if we got to choose starters.

I thought about having starters, but then after that would probably come a request for evolution, maybe even battling etc. It's a minigame, I don't want it to become that complex ._.

That's one reason the lists of pokemon are displayed like trading cards - think of them more like that

Alright, so fyi.. The trainer section does not seem to work in IE (as in, I cannot change my trainer avatar in settings). however, the favorite pokemon section works fine. I switched to Firefox and they both work fine..

Believe it or not, it actually works perfectly fine for me... I see no reason not to use it. It's just as fact as the others, works on all the same sites and such.. I only switch to Firefox to make use of a downloader plugin =p

IE is the bane of web developers' lives. Sites may look and run fine in it to you, but only because the guy(s) behind them have slaved over fixing and accounting for stupid inconsistencies and errors from IE. Fuck IE.

I must concede that Microsoft has improved it a lot in recent years, but there is still no reason to use it over chrome or firefox.

Cooldown system mostly complete, was not enabled for this update. TDS is a dick, cooldown / capture blocking system is now top priority. After which, pokemon deletion. Which will be tested on TDS.

I'm sorry, I wasn't really trying to be a dick. I was just trying to get a Squirtle. All I did was press F5 + search the word "appeared" which only took a few seconds to find a pokemon on the page. If you want people to bypass the trick you could use an image to denote the appearance of the pokemon rather than using plain text which is easy to track (Not needed for the actual name since it's not feasible to track the name of the pokemon). Again, I'm sorry about what I did. I was not aware I was being such a big problem and I'll stop using the system.

Strike basically hit the nail on the head.  Back during first testing I wanted to see if there was any diminishing returns so I pointed the refreshing method out to Roph.  I'm glad to see a cooldown system being implemented.  It would suck if everyone had all 251 of them before we implemented trading.

I always anticipated a jerk would try spamming threads to try and mass-capture which is why I generate & send a key along with the ajax encounter request. For now it's unused, though eventually it will also rate-limit your encounters.

The cooldown on capture is already implemented.

Also, I'm aware of a little bug where your sightings page section will list double pokemon if you've seen a normal & shiny variant. I'll fix it and make the shiny version appear shiny

Also in the next update, the "owned pokemon" page will be the default view on a trainer's profile.

Spamming takes the fun out of it, I think. It's way more rewarding to catch one by simply browsing... like that's ever stopped anyone from using an exploit in a game. Yes, controls ought to be put on.

I think the Pokemon avatars are throwing some people off and making them think they've seen Pokemon. I've heard more than a couple people say that.

I missed a pokemon or two before because .. well I will load a page, quickly scroll through to see if a pokemon shows up, then read the new entries. But with all of the pokemon avatars sometimes I still didn't see them in time to catch them  

Also when a page takes you to the last seen reply you have a chance of missing one if it spawns on a higher post.

I keep forgetting to hunt first and read later. I've missed out on two and failed to capture four so far! Although, the escapees were probably due to the difficulty multiplier. I have been quite the forum potato this evening.

When you select the trainer, keep your mouse inside the trainer pane so it doesn't collapse and hit the update button inside said pane at the bottom, rather than the one under the favorite pokemon pane. I didn't know there was one in the trainer pane because I didn't scroll all the way down to see it and it auto collapsed before I ever could.

Yeah, I'll change the way this behaves in the next update. Probably a fixed height box that scrolls.

If that's not it arrow, perhaps you're using IE (don't). Besides being a shit browser in many other ways, it lacks certain CSS3 / HTML5 features.

Next on the list is to let you choose a shiny pokemon as your favourite pokemon, if you have a shiny variant of it.

Finishing the release function means that two of the key functions to facilitate trading (adding / removing pokemon from whoever) are now in place, though trading still isn't coming any time soon

More badges added. Now automatically shown for the number of different pokemon you've seen, and also for if you have seen and/or caught a shiny pokemon.

You've seen 6 total, which puts you beyond the threshold for receiving a badge for seeing 5 Pokemon. The ones you've caught also count as ones you've seen.

Normally there is a 1% chance to appear. Which sounds low, but considering there are typically 25 posts per page, it adds up.

In the pokemon board, that chance is 4%.

It seems the dark version of RMRK7 loads a little slower. On the dinosaur I use at work here, it's significantly slower. Just wanted you to be aware, and out of curiosity, why would that be?

It isn't, only the CSS is different. The same PHP scripts are ran, the same HTML is output (apart from the HTML telling your browser to load dark stylesheets / images instead of course).

If you had multiple RMRK tabs open, it's because of that; if it's loaded one pokemon and then another, it'll only remember the last one.

I could maybe add one of those (usually annoying) javascript dialogs that asks you to confirm you want to leave the page if a pokemon has appeared. Like this:

I'd have to make it a setting in your PC though that you must opt into, don't want to annoy people who don't care for the minigame.

Although I get sad whenever I skip over a Pokemon on accident, I think the message window might get in the way for some people, as you said. ;_; If you decide to go with it, I agree with an opt-in.

Cool, cuz it really sucks when you just happen to get lucky and know that the system is just going to screw you anyway.  Seeing a pokemon should be a positive event, not an "fuck this shit" moment.

I think the popup message would take some of the fun out of the game.

I don't see why providing a tool that isn't compulsory use would be a bad thing for people choosing not to use it, but y'all be the majority. ;O

It's like putting cheats in an MMO.

Generation 3 pokemon will arrive when trading is implemented. Trading won't be implemented during this month either, even if it's finished in time. People should build up a collection of gen 1 and 2 pokemon, then when gen 3 lands there's more incentive to trade so you can get the new ones

This. I actually see them sometimes, and skip them so I can get another one that I'll like more instead, since I can only catch like one per time I log in here because of the cooldown =p And it would just be slightly irking if I got that popup every time.

Don't think that's a good idea. There are many Pokemon that I value higher than their evolved forms, especially since there's no battling.

The other option is that if you trade away a kadabra, YOU get an alakazam. Or if you trade away a kadabra then the recipient gets both a kadabra and an alakazam.

Taking Eevee for example, many of its Eeveelutions don't use stones but other means, such as Espeon when leveled up both with a high friendship statistic and during the day or morning. Both concepts way outside the scope of RMRKMon.

As for custom pokemon, the question of what IDs to use for them would crop up. Eventually over time we'll add newer gens of pokemon, and Nintendo will I assume continue to release games. Giving them IDs way higher than any likely pokemon would break a load of functions that expect consistent IDs (lists, RNGs). This is technically why missingno. exists in RMRKMon, just to offset from the default array key of 0

For each pokemon, I'd store an "evolves from" field and then you could go to a page to spend your EXP - if any pokemon evolve from any of yours.

Honestly, I wouldn't be opposed to evolution, but if it complicates things, I don't think it'd be all that necessary.

Was browsing this morning on my 3DS when I happened upon a shiny Abra. Tried tapping the picture several times but I couldn't get it to respond and catch it in time. Checking my Pokemon out now on the PS3 though, I noticed I now have TWO shiny Abra's and a regular one that I can't remember if I had before.

An unusual glitch has appeared!

Was browsing this morning on my 3DS when I happened upon a shiny Abra. Tried tapping the picture several times but I couldn't get it to respond and catch it in time. Checking my Pokemon out now on the PS3 though, I noticed I now have TWO shiny Abra's and a regular one that I can't remember if I had before.

The encountering / catching is done through jQuery javascript AJAX requests. I severely doubt the abilities of Nintendo's browser.

Also, catching (or failing to catch) a pokemon clears the encounter. There's no way you can capture twice from one encounter. That's why the capture href is so simple: http://rmrk.net/pokemon/?ajax=capture. I'll have a look at some stuff =o

[edit] I guess there is a tiny (I'm talking ~sub 20 millisecond) window where you could initiate two captures from one encounter, as the data is only cleared after the database queries are all done. If your 3DS lagged up and sent multiple requests at exactly the same time I suppose it's plausible.

I've just changed this in the code though, so after the next update, it's utterly impossible.

Glitch report: I encountered a Primeape today but when I captured it the system gave me a dragonaire instead. I think there may be a typo glitch somewhere regarding these two pokemon.

This happens when one encounter overwrites another. When you try and capture it's always from your latest encounter. If you're using multiple tabs and encounter pokemon on those multiple tabs, this will happen.

Oh, I am. It was shiny too, so I'm much happier with this outcome.

I've just changed this in the code though, so after the next update, it's utterly impossible.

That and shinies aren't affected by the cooldown. Every time I've caught a shiny it's been right after a caught a regular one. I've been getting lucky with encounters too. I see one on nearly every page I look at, and since I don't really visit RMRK all that often the chances of capturing it are high.

Just as a thought, is this query page specific? I clicked on it, and caught a pokemon, yet, the pokemon was not on this page... So, not sure if that counts as a bug report or not, but something to look into?

An encountered pokemon is stored in your server-side session. RMRK's SMF sessions are currently set to expire/refresh after 45 minutes. Your session refreshing invalidates any encounter (ran away message), or if you attempt a capture the encounter is dropped. Part of your session data is what you see on the end of special links like the logout links; that jumble of letters and numbers. When that changes, your session has updated.

If you've encountered but missed / not attempted to capture a pokemon then it'll still hang around in your session until it periodically refreshes or you overwrite it with another encounter. Hitting the capture URL runs the capture process on your session, so you caught it =o

No way to find out who it was, I don't and won't log who catches what in the aim of simplicity.

Implementing the red/gold/ruby and blue/silver/sapphire etc version stuff now.

All trainers will get a random version assigned to them the next time they encounter a pokemon. After the update arrives.

A link to the bulbapedia article for each pokemon will be shown, version is represented by a big bullet point (same for trainers), and fixed the weird alignment / line breaking in the pokemon selector dropdown

• Offer a full trade log for users, "My trade history" or something

Whoever creates a trade uses the link to that created trade as an invite link of sorts; they'll send it to you. Users have a maximum amount of simultaneous trades allowed, and it won't become an active trade for you until you accept the trade. From then on, it appears in a list of active trades in the trade center

Speaking of which, the list function I'm busy on now is only technically feasible after making my own functions to grab data from SMF. SMF provides built in functions when you're integrating with it to easily get stuff like a user's account data, but it gives you literally every last thing about their account. When querying for 10+ users it's pages and pages of data, 99% of which I'm throwing away. Now my own function just grabs the username + buddy list in less than 1/100th the time. So I feel safe querying triple, even quadruple digit numbers of usernames

In other news, got the rudimentary list page up and running.

A glaring bug is the catchings / sightings, for 2 reasons. First is that I didn't always keep a personal tally for each trainer of catch / encounter events, second is that for a while all new trainers had null default values instead of zero, so the count wouldn't increase anyway. Counts fine now though, will even out over time

And it counts having 0 pokemon as having 1, since count(array) = 1;. Will fix that too =o

So for now, HaloOfTheSun has the biggest dex. He's packing a huge dex .

Yeah it's just a little annoying when you view the site a lot, and you're supposed to be having fun with a feature, but it grows more annoying than fun due to it almost punishing activity.  Nothing -has- to be done, but it is a little frustrating, which I think defeats the purpose of a fun feature.

Also, it gets confused when I open multiple threads at once ( which I sometimes do ), and I think that screws up the session variables.

There can only ever be one or no pokemon in your session; any new ones overwrite any older ones. It's literally $sessiondata['seenpokemon'] = $encounter.

So I'm busy generating and tallying up scores for offered pokemon in a trade, here's how it stands now:

1) Each pokemon in an offer has its encounter rate inverted from 100. So for example, a 75% encounter rate zubat leaves only 25 as a base starting score.
2) The score is then doubled, just to push differences apart further.
3) If the pokemon is version limited, it gets another 50 added to its score.
4) If the pokemon is shiny, its score is multiplied by an arbitrarily chosen 12.5x.

Each pokemon in a trade can be hovered over to see its score. So at the end of this, a pidgeot is worth 90, a gardevoir 140, a charmeleon 120. A shiny charmeleon is worth 1,500.

Of course, much of the value from trading is sentimental, friendship based or some other reason that means the actual rarity of the pokemon is irrelevant. So it's just a little number in the corner, and each pokemon's individual score is hidden until you hover over its name. Just helps at a glance if you're wondering how rare the particular pokemon is. Also, pokemon in a trade now link to their info pages.

Found my first error. This displayed as a Delicati (catty? I dunno) Then when I caught it, it was a shellder.

Glitch report: I encountered a Primeape today but when I captured it the system gave me a dragonaire instead. I think there may be a typo glitch somewhere regarding these two pokemon.

This happens when one encounter overwrites another. When you try and capture it's always from your latest encounter. If you're using multiple tabs and encounter pokemon on those multiple tabs, this will happen.

Dragonair is cooler than primeape too, so be happy

I only had one tab though, I guess my encounter rate is just so high I double encounter. ;p

2 little helpful changes

First, the linked images that the pokemon pages give you now include the pokemon's name and number in the image:

Secondly, the links it gives you now include the pokemon's name in them. This doesn't break the URLs and it's just cruft, but it's helpful if you're editing lists of pokemon in a thread So for example, Swablu's BBCodes:

Well that doesn't make any sense to me.

SMF handles sessions on RMRK.net, including for the pokemon system which is tied into it. I just put the last encountered pokemon in your SMF session. The key for the pokemon in your session is always the same, it's either set (because you have no pokemon in your session) or it's overwritten from an old encounter that wasn't attempted with a capture. If your session refreshes/expires then the pokemon is lost as the old session data both doesn't exist any more and wouldn't correspond to you any more anyway.

I can't reproduce the issue even after testing it to hell and back encountering / capturing hundreds on my local RMRK mirror, I can only make it happen when encountering multiple pokemon simultaneously in multiple tabs / windows, which is the normal newest encounter capturing behaviour. It's only possible to have one encounter per page too. If a post triggers an encounter, all subsequent posts are prevented from doing so.

I dunno, and I wouldn't know where to start about debugging it. Put up with it, I guess :|

I forgot to mention that before that Shuppet appeared, I saw a Spearow on a previous page but I decided not to catch it. It's like RMRK demanded I catch that Spearow But maybe it has something to do with seeing it right before and not catching it? I've done that several times with no problem before, but weird stuff happens I guess.

I imagine it'd be strenuous to debug anyway, Roph. It's fine; do it when you feel up to it.

Compare screen now shows pokedex status as well as current ownership. Should make helping Joy's dex quest easier. 

Also, for the PC:

No more expandy boxes for picking trainer pic or favourite pokemon. Just scrolls as normal. I tried having them scroll to the right instead, it just felt weird though. So made them vertical.

Also, the PC will auto-generate a BBCode list of your dupe (if any) pokemon for you. So a quick copy-paste lets me show you that these are my dupe pokemon:



This is an exclusive list. Meaning if you own 8 of a pokemon, the list only includes 7.

Not sure what other lists I should generate. A BBcode list of your entire pokemon inventory seems overkill. The user should just visit your profile instead lol.

I also changed the background images that appear on trainer profiles and info pages. Before they used original ken art, but the dimensions varied wildly. Some are so small that they're more or less invisible. Now they use upscaled nintendo global link art. These are originally 300x300, displayed as 900x900:

I spent quite a while on this and ended up with the current alignment. If the base is higher, larger pokemon extend below it and it looks weird too.

I guess I could edit all the base images to stretch them up a little.

wouldn't it make more sense to manually align the pokemon on a transparent background, using a file size that is uniform across all critters? Then you'd just display them at your base height and they'd line up properly on their own without any fiddlin.

Pokemon sprites are already centered on their 96x96 canvases. This is why they look fine in a list of them. It'd be weird if they were all at different heights. I'll just make the bases bigger

Is it just me or is the cool down freaking out?  I last caught a Pokemon around 1:30 pm (my time) before I went to pick my nephew up. I just arrived home around 10 minutes ago and decided to check for another. Now if I currently own a Pokemon or it's in my pokedex (thank you, Roph, for making that easy to see at a glance) I don't catch it. I keep looking. And I've stopped using multiple tabs because I want to catch the Pokemon I want.   I did that just now and finally got Sharpedo.  I clicked on him and got "Sharpedo escaped (!)" 

Even the RMRKMon list shows that I last caught a Pokemon at: last caught: Apr 21st, 5:17 pm (which I assume would be 1:17, and that's about right)


And just in case the time becomes an issue:

I'm showing Sophist last caught at: Last caught: Apr 21st, 9:26 pm  Which is about 3 and a half hours into the future. Unless he can time travel, that isn't it.

All times in RMRKmon (trainer since, last caught, cooldown comparisons) are based on the timezone of the server, which is UTC.

Cooldown rates haven't changed since they were first added. Whether you have seen it before or it's in your dex or you own it makes no difference. It's just a comparison between the current time and the last time you caught something. The only exception is if the pokemon is shiny, then it's locked at 95% chance.

I think it'd be nice if the cooldown affected encounter chance rather than capture chance. In addition to being less rage-inducing when you see a pokemon that you'd really like escape because you just caught a stupid Jigglypuff, it would also cut down on people just ctrl+F5 spamming RMRKmon pages just to catch more Pokemon, which is really lame and defeats the whole point of the minigame. Like I understand doing that now and then - even I do it too when I realize I haven't seen one in a while so I just go to an RMRKmon page and catch one - but I suspect there are quite a few users who abuse the system as it is just because it's so simple to do so.

Right, I don't think anyone will say there's a problem with doing that. It is a problem when someone goes from having very few pokemon to being one of the people with tons of pokemon in a very short amount of time, most likely from ctrl+F5 spamming. Even with the cooldown, if you refresh enough you're going to catch a lot. Some people admitted to doing this a while back, and while no one may explicitly say that's what they're doing now, it's pretty obvious.

Not to be all on the issue, I really don't care that much, it's just kind of lame. The bigger problem I have is that encountering pokemon should be a good thing, but with cooldown affecting capture chance rather than encounter chance, it often isn't.

ctrl+F to find them isn't really a problem. It's the same thing as scrolling down an entire page which is what people do anyway.

EDIT: Thinking more on it now, I'm not sure how much cooldown on encounter chance rather than capture chance would make a difference. Roph would have to clarify on that issue. Maybe cooldown should just be more severe for capture chance. After a few minutes, I believe, the chance is 15%. That's not very high, but if you refresh enough you'll still catch one. But then the cooldown should wear off after 2 or 3 hours like it does now, for people that don't abuse the system, so tweaking the cooldown for capture chance might not be a good idea.

Yeah, Ctrl+F is always a big help for me, since I tend to be rather oblivious. I never use Ctrl+F5, since it'd basically just be grinding for bytes of data and would lessen the fun and challenge of the whole thing.

So how about, up to 30 minutes after capturing you cannot encounter any more, and from 30-60 minutes after encountering, encounter rate is halved?

Sounds fair, I suppose the best way to see is to try it out! If everyone hates it we can always change it/go back to the way it was.

Yeah, I've had similar issues. If you own the normal pokemon but saw a shiny and didn't catch it, the shiny will show up as caught anyway under Sightings. It does that for me with Haunter and a couple others.

fucking hear it every day because it's on the custom "station" used by Festival. that said parody lyrics have improved my opinion of a popsong before.

it helps that the lyrics are usually not super distinct over everything else that's going on in a large metal building with people grocery shopping in it.

For example my brain places the words from the parody I enjoy of moves like jagger into the regular song when it plays.

One thought that I've had, and that would be easy to implement:

As Gen5 starts with completely new pokemon (until you beat the game, you can ONLY encounter the 156 new pokemon added), when RMRKMon adds Gen5, you will ONLY encounter Gen5 pokemon for let's say, 1 week.

Well, personally I hate it. But for purely selfish reasons. I try to catch Pokemon as often as possible. Some days that is several times a day, and others it may be once or twice. If that is implemented on a week that I am really busy I'll be lucky to catch even one of the Gen 5's

sometime I come back 2 hrs after catching one, and end up with 5-7 getting away before it finally lets me catch one

I think i just realized what roph meant, For a week it will be just Gen 5 and then after that week it will be all available gens.

Badges overhaul completed! 

No longer will stat based badges (# of encounters, sightings etc etc) accumulate. You'll only see the highest tier reached. Also a whole load of new badges are now available:

Encounters - complements the old unique seen badge, which remains

Catches - compliments the old unique caught badge which remains

Pokedex percentage - ups in 5% steps

Trades performed (duh)

Shiny sightings - now counts, instead of a simple has seen true/false

Shiny pokemon owned, again counts instead of true/false

Eevee Badge, for owning Eevee and all its evolutions. For example, Jules has earned it.

Legendary trio badges for owning.. the legendary trios.

Starter pokemon badges, for owning all 9 starter (and their evolutions) pokemon of a particular generation

Each and every badge also has a unique title. Visible when hovered over. They start off generic for lower tiers. It may be a while until people unlock the more crazy higher ones.

You can now filter anyone's pokemon inventories. The same filter persists when switching between a user's 3 inventories. You can now also use the same filter when picking pokemon to add to a trade

Also, said screens / pages now load in pokemon images via the sprite method. They should load / scroll much faster / smoother now

I'm toying with the idea of a pokemon's "card" switching to the animated sprite when you mouse over it.

Also it may not be obvious, but these filters also let you filter using a number too

 

In instances where css sprites are used to display pokemon, hovering over such a pokemon card will now switch it to showing the animted sprite.

try hovering over pokemon in my inventory to see what I mean. (Press Ctrl+F5 to make sure you get fresh js/css)

I've added a fade out / in from the normal to animated sprites for 2 reasons. First is that sometimes the animated sprites don't line up perfectly with their static ones. The other is so that your browser has a chance to start downloading the animated gif sprite. For both reasons, the little fade makes it less jarring.

Is there a limit to how many total Pokemon you can hold? It might make better use of the "release" option if there was.

As for the capturing a different pokemon while supposedly not using other tabs / browsers or something, I still don't really get how it could be possible, and I've never experienced it. If sessions were broken, you wouldn't be able to stay logged in.

Either way, after the next update, your encounter will be stored in a specific key under the session var tied to your account, rather than the generic php $_SESSION superglobal. The only possible source of a pokemon to run the capture on is yourself.

You can trade or release (I think) any pokemon and you can still select them as your favorite since it's registered as you owned them even if they're not there.

Selecting a fave comes from your pokedex, though selecting a fave shiny comes from your current inventory

How hard is it to catch Pokemon? For every 9 or so that appears, I manage to catch 1.

Missed a Raikou because of that too.

Catch Rates, thou if you refresh too much a page too often, the catch rate lowers so people don't cheat; Or something like that. Also, Catch Rate lowers as you catch pokemon, so you'd have to wait a few minutes or so Don't remember if it was 10 minutes or so). Thou now pokemon don't appear after you catch them, so, ermm, I just think it has a little bit of this & that mixed.

You won't encounter anything at all until 30 mins have passed since your last capture. Then from 30-60mins, encounter rate is halved. From 60 mins onwards it's back to normal.

Though at the same time, there is a cooldown on capture chance which fully wears off after 8 hours (though the harshest of it wears off after about 2 hours).

Okay, so when you became an RMRKmon trainer a version was randomly assigned to you - either Tyrian or Liserian (just like Red or Blue and Ruby or Sapphire and so on). Some Pokémon are exclusive to trainers of one of the versions, and cannot be caught by trainers of the other. It's to encourage trading! Or something!

I don't know if it's some kind of bug or it's what it should happen, but, the other day, I caught a Missingno and it is in my Pokedex but not in my Pokemon list. Is this normal?

MISSINGNO. the Glitch / Bug Pokemon is more of a myth, a Legend, None can have him as he only exists in the realm of codes & numbers, been the value of imaginary, but sometimes he likes to sneak into the world, causing mischief and glitching the system, only few people have obtain it, but by the ever watchful eyes of the Messengers & Guardians, they go and tell the Great lord, who summons Mighty Arceus and sends MISSIGNO. back to the Void of Data from whence it came, to protect the world from Crashing and glitching up in whatever scheme it has.

The Short answer; It's a bug or glitch that pops up in rare occasions, and it shouldn't, as his catch rate is 0 (Won't appear at all). Staff keeps an eye out for that, and report it.
Regarding been on your Pokedex and not in your list of Pokemon; He was removed/released.

I still think it's unfair that a Pokemon that shouldn't be catchable gets removed from someone just because it's not supposed to be catchable. Nobody was supposed to be able to catch it in the original games, but Gamefreak didn't take it away from people who got it.

If anyone catches a MissingNo then they should be able to keep it, and any other way of viewing it is dumb (unless it actually fucks up the game like it would in RBY).

Roph, encountered that bug that folk have been talking about where the pokemon you catch wasn't the same as what you got. Can't actually remember since I'm still half asleep, but I think what happened is that I saw it, accidentally closed the tab and re-opened it (or refreshed it, something like that), saw the poki still there and caught it, just for the name to change.
I know you said you can't really seem to fix and it and not pressuring you to or anything, has only happened to me once out of hundreds, just thought I'd chime in in case you start to notice a pattern months down the line or something

Also, was half asleep when this encounter happened and just saw this and sorta freaked out a wee bit till it adjusted.

It happens when you have two tabs of rmrk opened or the page expired / died.

Okay, I didn't read ALL the pages, just the first one, and it looks like this problem has come up already at least once, but I was just looking at a page, I only had the one tab open, and I'd only been looking at it for the past five or ten minutes. I saw a Jynx under a post. I clicked on the Jynx. It told me that "Ponyta was caught."

I don't really know what to think about this. They're both cool, but... Jynx, man. You don't find THOSE on Cinnabar Island.

I like this... I want to be able to:

1. Add my own trainer GIF and image (and other info).
If you create your own, you have to create a GIF and a face and otherwise choose from the standard ones. Also, let us name our trainer and pokémon, etc.

2. Show my trainer info in my signature by checking on (or off) a box option.
It shows your GIF, face, name, party pokémon, amount of PM cought, etc.

3. Create a pokégym, shop, trainer, pokécentre, etc. (involves a currency) -> Make a huge pokéworld
Depending on what you want, you can work or battle for money. If you have enough money, you can open a shop, pokégym, pokécentre, day care, etc!

4. Use and create items to use for upgrading your pokémon, decorating a house/gym/shop/daycare and use them in battles.

5. create your own pokémon!!

No, is pokémon but would be awesome to earn money with posting and get to do something with your pokémon besides trading and collecting

I am late but;

1. Add my own trainer GIF and image (and other info).
If you create your own, you have to create a GIF and a face and otherwise choose from the standard ones. Also, let us name our trainer and pokémon, etc.

You can choose and change the trainer's avatar in the PC, but I think you already know that seen you have a Lass as your avatar. There's a thread to create your own trainer, specifically animated, but it's expected that you'd make it, with a reward for your contribution, and the Trainer been implemented in rmrkmon. There's no need to name trainers, since, their, well, us. There's no point in naming pokemons, since their just there for collecting purpose.

2. Show my trainer info in my signature by checking on (or off) a box option.
It shows your GIF, face, name, party pokémon, amount of PM cought, etc.

You can link your avatar & Pokemon team in your signature, the rest kinda seems unnecessary in my opinion.

3. Create a pokégym, shop, trainer, pokécentre, etc. (involves a currency) -> Make a huge pokéworld
Depending on what you want, you can work or battle for money. If you have enough money, you can open a shop, pokégym, pokécentre, day care, etc!

That sounds too ambitious . . . too ambitious for a simple collecting game. However, there was someone around who was working on a Pokemon Game Project, and wanted to try to implement the data from the member's rmrkmon's pokemon data into his game, not sure if the guy is still working on it or which thread it is, but that's the closest to this there is. There's a Pokemon map making contest around too, and one to make a custom field, with the costume field been the closest to what you want for customizing your gym/house/etc.

4. Use and create items to use for upgrading your pokémon, decorating a house/gym/shop/daycare and use them in battles.
What it said above (also recipes and etc.)

The game's just a collection game. Those add-ons sounds more like they belong in the third suggestion. And I already answer most of these above. I don't think there'll be a battle system for it, as such would require to make skills, lvls, items, etc. this has been answered before a few pages back.

This may be a bit overboard, but I'd like to be able to see people to create their own set of pokémon which have to be voted into the list.

Not gonna happen. It's been said before; only official pokemons would be implemented (Currently Gen.1 to Gen.6), excluding Mega-Evolutions & Special Forms. It has to do with how pokemon are implemented by numbers in the script for simplicity.

That's the point of the game, it's just a trading & collecting game. And remembering about it, it's worked and was very addictive, and fun to trade with others.
I don't see what you mean by earning 'money', whether you mean some kind of fictional currency (which, to be fair, the point of Pokemon Trading kinda aside from making users have to trade with others, was in it's way an already established Currency (?)), or use actual money (Which isn't a good idea for various reasons.)

We moved server recently, so there was a short (few hours at most) window where file changes on the old server wouldn't  be carried over to the new one. If you setup your team right before the move, this may be why

Nobody could have lost more than at most 2 pokemon, the move was very quick. Even 2 is pushing it.

Favourites are just set from your current inventory, you haven't lost any pokemon. Just choose your favourites again.

Well... Ii looked through my set of pokemon I'm missing at least four of them somehow... IDK why, I had about 75 pokemon and was suddenly down to like 55. I remember having one of the badge icons for water types but now it's gone, and was either at ten shinys or near ten shinys, I mean at first I was thinking I was just seeing it wrong or something, or maybe I got hacked and someone traded my pokemon but then looking I have no trades, I haven't bothered with trades yet.
I remember a couple of them, of course I don't have any pictures or anything to show what ones they were so that probably won't help but yeah...
I'm not really annoyed or anything, I can search for them again, i just was wondering if I were the only one who was having this problem and if there were a way to get them back or if I'd just have to search again.

Either way, gave Netol Pidgeot, Bulbasaur, Venasaur, Jolteon and Espeon. If it's not okay with the others, they can always remove them.

I don't really think we have a back-up to check in the end (just thinking of having to check the back ups for that info sounds tiring), but you shouldn't have lost that water badge if you had it.

I was so sad to see my Pidgeot disappear the most, I had been really excited to catch one as it's one of my favorites to have.
