4/30/2019 NEW *** Watch development of Left Alone live on Twitch 8:30-Midnight PST Monday, Wednesday, Friday

4/30/2019 NEW *** Fixed Preview Images that were broken. Fixed broken links.

Videos!
How to remove or replace the built in images. (Including Base templates)
How to add your own custom images.

Getting errors? At the bottom are some common errors that are easily fixed that get asked all the time.

Added Saturation, Luminocity, Shade and Tone controls for each layer Brightness and Contrast to Sprite Creator 3 XP Colorizer.

Changes to Sprite Creator 3 XP:

• Changing options in the Colorizer should now work correctly for every option. Before Hair, Shoulder, Hat and Waist did not work correctly.
• SprCre3 XP v20131207.1351 is no longer supported. If you're using the XP version of Sprite Creator 3 you should now use the Colorizer version.

Note: Sprite Creator 3 VX does not have a colorizer option. This option is only available in the Colorizer version for XP. The Colorizer allows you to edit each layer further than before.

Major Changes:

You can now  save the image as well as all of its layers into a seperate folder when you save. This allows you to assemble the character yourself in the fashion you want or even allow gear switching within your game. How you use the option is up to you.

You can now import your own custom graphics into Sprite Creator 3. However there currently is a (26vx, 18xp) item limit for each part selection(ie Bangs gets 26 and Female Hair gets it's own 26 in vx and 18 in xp...ect). Which will change some day with either some kind of page flipping or scrolling function.

Sprite Creator on Facebook for all questions and comments. Follow Sprite Creator 3 to receive content updates.

Requires Java 7+ found here http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html This program will NOT run if you do not have Java 7+ installed.

Updated 3-30-2014 All links current.

Artwork not fully created by me although most of it is very heavily modified and in some cases no longer resembles the original object. Ever object is a personal recoloring/refactor.

I've been getting asked through emails about donations lately. Although not neccessary, if you would like to make a donation to Sprite Creator I can accept paypal at jensen_305@yahoo.com Thank you for your contribution and support.

Removed Adfly links and replaced them with bitly.

Sprite Creator 3 Download Click Here

Common errors and how to fix them:

The Images are saved in the "Saved" folder. The capitol "S" is important.

Most problems can be solved by downloading the program again and deleting the orinial completely. You must extract all contents of the zip file. Do not run the jar from inside the zip file. If you do so you will be unable to save.

Images not saving but the folder is there? The folder name is case sensitive it must be named "Saved" Delete the folder and recreate it.

Having trouble adding your own images into Sprite Creator 3? At the top there is a video link on how to do it.

You should remove the "-signs in your URL's as they appear broken. I know to remove these, others might not know it and call them broken ;)
You also forgot the : in every single link! It's http:// not http//

As for the rest, I'll be trying!

Broken links were due to the formatting of this sites BB code and links not wrapped in " " any ways. That is fixed

Also added 10 new Acce2 options in 6 different colors.

No problem. I programmed it for myself 2 years ago. I recently picked it up and released it to the public. Now I am increasing its base sprite images to incorporate a larger variety.

Would it be possible to add in monster sprites and faces that accompany the characters you create?? That would be fantastic if that were possible...

I do have zombies, goblins, orcs, bunnypeople, catpeople. Looking for more parts for them before I add them. Have to slightly edit the Goblin though(EDIT: maybe this ?). And make a female version of him, zombie and orc.

As for the Faces, at this time there is no plans to create Faces. However once the 1800 additional images I plan on adding are finished I may incorporate an automatic face generator of some sort.

I am however trying to mathematically figure out how to change the sprite position with out the need to hand draw them. Some examples of the on the fly, doesn't require hand editing to acquire. First column is the Celebration animation you can see I took the middle image and converted it on the fly to do the celebration, and or with smaller eyes

Image credits on this post go to Ying, Kazzador, Holder, Famitsu. Thanks for letting me use these graphics.

Maybe you can add an option for people to add their own images... It would be great to get new pieces of art....

This project started off as 'was only going to be used by me' if you know what I mean. Adding of your own parts 'can' be done. Just send me the parts and I'll add them. Later though I'll have external folders that you can build on the current images. We'll see how far this program goes.

If you do, you'll have made a tool that can be infinitely customised... you'll be a very popular guy! I DL'd your program and I really like it; if there were "expansion packs" that were genre specific i think you will have really made your mark on the RM community. I know I'd love to see that!

Infected with the sickness.
This is truly amazing! Im using another sprite editor with this kind of VX sprites.. (famitsu actually) but I'm having trouble to customize the sprites to look like my facesets. With this it seems like you can do even more of different combinations! This will be insanely useful for my project, and I'm so happy you released this, makes it so much easier for me to make my own sprites for the people in my world! Thank you!  ^-^
Can you feel that?..

Thanks for the support. Appreciate any kind of feed back. Yes Famitsu is a nice place, but outdated. This sprite creator uses those base images. I've currently surpassed their sprite generator in total character combinations too because I am done adding Famitsu and now working on customs and RTP additions.

I have to add options too. Yet to add include:
Bangs
More ponytails/manbraids???
Tails and Ears (Animal) actually 2 different sprite types but I may combine them into 1.
Costumes (basically full suits transforming the character from human to > pick your poison. Zombie, Bunnie, Orc, Troll...ect
More wing options.
Different faces (ie old people look different than young people)
30+ more bodies on top of the 20+ already in place
30+ more hair options
15+ more hairop options
More colors.

Things I plan on doing but have yet to start:

Loading of external resources. Which TECHNICALLY* already works. I just am not releasing how to do it yet... :) Problems with error checking...ie I don't do any error checking :). But if someone still wants to know how to do it and try their hand at it. I'll explain it upon request.

100% full layer customization. Let me explain that one... Later when you can import your own images, you'll be able to fully change the drawing order of each layer making the sprite look how ever you want.

Each layer will have its own RGBA scale you can change. Allowing you to change the color of each layer, not just each piece.

Maybe add faces and an auto generated face. I just don't have access to the faces. Well I mean I do, but no permission to use them.

Still a lot more to come as well.

I am taking a week off from this project, but I'll still be active on the forums.

I still have some cool ideas as to sprites...
What about children and animals?
Maybe like, choosing an animal from a list and then being able to edit for instance the colour of the skin, add type of horns, tails, ... or whatever.

It's just an idea and I don't know if it were possible!

Oh, I tried and I'll use!! Make sure to check out whatever I've made when my projects are demo's or finished or something. Or not  :yuyu:

I'd be all for it. Animals are much easier to add. I'll look into finding base images and see if I can't find someone who likes to draw put parts on them, strip those parts back off and put them on their own sheet. :) I cannot draw. I mean I can make horns or edit images already made, beyond that I'd need a pixel artist.

Saves in the Saved folder. The folder is created the first time you save an image. Saved folder location matches that of the running jar.  <-- On windows... Mac Linux or the such no idea if it saves correctly.

You could always use print screen and paste it into PS or something :) Allows you to make 8-char charsets as well ;)

I had trouble saving too. To get it to work, I had to put the folder in C: with no spaces in the folder name, like C:\SpriteCreator. After that it worked fine.

Yep, had the same problem... Looks like it doesn't work if it's in a map in downloads or where else anyone might have put it :yuyu:

Though, once it's in C directly, it does save them quick enough :D

Ok that was a bug that somehow made its way back. as long as the path to the jar doesn't have spaces it works. Some reason my function that eliminated that problem isn't working anymore. I may have to rewrite that function. Which halts the building process a while till I figure that out.

EDIT: Thanks for that error report. I have fixed the problem and updated the download. Unfortunately that means that the code changes I made since then which are not much are gone. However I do remember exactly what it is I was doing so getting back a few hours work isn't that big of a deal. Not like I have to re-do the graphics too :)
