Friends,

Love the music. Could I make a request from one of the masters?

I'm looking for a good mountside music track for a wind-blown feel to the maps I'm doing. I'll be doing screenshots over on one of my thread to explain why I need something like this. If it's too much to ask, let me know. However, since your music has some great feels to it it'd really help in the tone in the game I'm making [you're credited twice, btw], and the sound quality is sheer flawlessness.

Cheers, Revtattertot.

I'd love to help. would you mind telling me which of my songs have instruments you like, or what instruments you want it to have? I would ask for you to give me a song to listen to, but I'd be afraid I'd be stealing. :/

Any hints will help. I can kind of hear a tune already, but I'd like to know what you want, specifically.

Hmm, for a mountain theme, It'd be best If i gave you the scenario of what mountain theme I want.

Long story short, I want a theme that says "Time for adventure!" but also "Watch that pitfall!" at the same time, kind of like the mountain theme in Lufia II: RotS. Something where it creates an upbeat feeling like your travelling the mountainside, exploring all the nooks and crannies, watching for step-offs, and all while staying prepped for the occasional bird or snake. I honestly don't know which instruments specifically add to that tone, so those are up to you.

Hope this helps,
Revtattertot.

I need some tense music for a scene where the character is in an abandoned mineshaft, gets deep into it, and finds out that lava is starting to flood the mine. The music would need to be tense (as I said), have a feeling of a fire to it, and just be overall something that would make a persons heart race. Can you make anything like that?

If you haven't already, check out my soundcloud resource page. Right now I'm switching back into study mode for exams. When I have some free time, I'll try to come up with something. I wish I had time to take more commissions, but for the time being it's negatively affecting my school and social life.

How long of a scene do you want it to be?

I assume you've seen my resources, but just in case, here's my home page:

Okay. Any tips? Are there specific instruments or musical phrases that you're looking for? Choirs of angels singing them to their doom? (I can't quite do that, though...).  ;)

I understand the fun of music carrying you through a game or a scene. The more you hear and see it, the more of a religious experience it is. I'll speed up the tempo, at least, and see if I can add some scary background stuff. Anything I need to get rid of?

I had a couple minor problems at first. I was so excited, I worked on it when I should have been studying. And then my fiance said it was taking up too much of our together time. Like I said, I just need to put things in order, and I can devote time to this, at least until my soundcloud storage runs out.

You all have improved my days, too. My fiction writing failed, so now I live vicariously through this adventurous music stuff. I'm thrilled to have an audience!  :tpg:

In that aspect, I understand completely if you want to keep it a hobby. Art shouldn't be burned out or things start getting redundant.

However, the point still stands that you truly have skill in the field of work you're in. I think you have a pretty set-in-stone place here in RMRK, so keep doing what you do best. You have support.

Alright, now for battle music request galore...
-Just a general battle music
-Robber Boss Battle (location in a city)
-Water Spirit Boss Battle (sense of flowing water)
-Earth Spirit Boss Battle (In a desert)
-Demon Boss Battle (very tense music)
I think that's enough for now...

Neal, that can be shortened.

Blood Mambo or Heated Battle would work for the normal battle.
Blood Mambo can work for the city battle.
Megaboss F has that demonic vibe to it.

A good request would be like a straight up soft theme giving off the vibe of like an arcane salt flat in the middle of an ocean, mostly empty except for a few monsters, and some slight treasure, with something big just.. there, but unseen, like you know its there to jump out at you.

Sounds fun. Let me see what scraps I have from incomplete works. I may be able to speed up the process by self-plagiarizing. Would you be opposed to the idea of having one or two main tunes as the basis for these battle themes? I'll rearrange them, of course, to suit your requests.

Having said that, this is going to take a long time if I complete these. I would not expect them to be ready anytime soon. I have two 12-page papers and two 5-pagers coming up, and since I'm so close to graduation, they'll require most of my time.

But, free time! Yayy! I'll do what I can.  :blizj:

7th grader can only do Pre-AP, AP is in the high-school/college range.

While it's essentially the same diff, it'd be safe to say neither one of us truly know what he feels like.
I should know, I have to come up with a soundtrack for R&J by Monday, plus write an essay on how each individual song relates to it. Still not as hard as what he has to do, he practically has to be writing a novel.

Thanks for understanding the musical theme idea. It's easier for me to take a tune and rework it and use it multiple times in a soundtrack to reflect different moods. I'm not sure what I'll do, exactly, but I can tell you now that it will take lots of time for me to complete.

Also... From what I remember, the seventh grade was far more challenging for me at that age than college is for me at 22. By the time I got to college, I was prepared for the kind of coursework I've faced because of groundwork courses in middle and high school. Now I face the UNKNOWN... full-time desk work. Gaaaaah!

No problem. We're like that due to the fact we're kind of in the same boat.

What I meant on the subject of school was in middle school, even Pre-AP classes only had like a 5-7 paragraph essay, which is typically less than a 5-page essay. High school, you start looking at word count, and college, its both page number and word count.

Fortunately, the program I use to compose, Steinberg's Sequel, is for beginners and comes with almost everything I need to make music. If I hadn't gotten this new computer with 4GB of RAM, I would have not been able to write these last twenty or so songs. This program requires a lot of juice!

This is what the water battle song looks like in the program:

If you like, download the free trial here. You might be surprised at how easy it is to make music with it. This free trial is for Sequel 3, but I'm using Sequel 2.

I might be able to add some strings to one of the battle themes I've already made w/ electric guitars. Battle themes are the most difficult for me. I would either add them to "Heated Battle" or "Boss Battle." Have you listened to those on my soundcloud page? Would you prefer one over the other?

Edit: I'll attempt to come up with something original. I don't want to leave you hanging.

I've heard quite a lot of your work actually.
A number of GIAW entries were using your music.

Needless to say, I quite liked it.

Here is something I'm referring to in regards to rock and violin.

This is just a reference, of course I'd like it if you tried it with your own style of musical instruments.

AuraMasterNeal, I like your song! My first few songs were not nearly as original (mine were about 8 notes repeating themselves for two minutes :V ) I really like the fact that it has sheet music accompaniment, too.

And to interject, my music is for everyone, even if it's written upon request by another user.

I wouldn't make "private" commissions available to the public without permission.

And I'm so glad you can use these. It's hard for me to write music for a scene if I don't know the story and characters, so I understand the swapping of Insidia for Bloodlust. Songs like "The Tea Garden," "Brother I Never Had" and "The Fig Tree" are based on people and characters whom I love, so they sound more passionate. I hope that makes sense.  :P

While that may be the case, I just won't feel right using a track that wasn't up originally or that I requested myself. I apologize if this is necroposting, but I have been busy with the game I'm working on and since I've also got school, things get a bit swamped on my end, so no time to actually TALK.

If I may, Would I request something like a happy tune, sort of castle-oriented, everyone's going along, doing their business, little kids playing on the street, creating this mood of up-beat peace [if that even makes sense]. Lemme know if you have the time to do this or not, because I can pretty much empathize with the whole schedule thing by now.

I suppose brass, but also a little bit of a crystal-like sound, keeping the track upbeat, but also soothing. It could also be described as a type of out at night, hitting the city music, but keeping it more castle-oriented. also, any drum-work could help out, too. If it can be kept simple, go for it. However, If things need to get complicated, I more than understand, I had that problem on an essay once [I know it doesn't relate well but I'm thinking general art instead of music] and had to get bow-legged tying everything together properly.

Okay, maybe something a little darker.

What do you mean by deep? More sounds, echoes, instruments... less? A minor key instead of major?

I'm thinking of echoing clean e-guitar sounds (like in "The Brother I Never Had") along with the pan-flute from "Touch the Sky."

I'm not sure what to do about the wind effects, to be honest. I don't have any, and I'd have to use someone else's, which would make the track "non-royalty-free." Plus, adding effects to the music can imbalance the sound. Would you be opposed to finding a new wind sound effect to use apart from the music? I'm sorry about that.

well youtube had a high definition feature and you don't need premium account to upload videos...
and sometime some people use youtube to upload some of their songs.
because sound cloud  is the currently major song upload site on the internet. there is no more alternative...

I appreciate the suggestion, but within two weeks I will have a $40/yr. premium account with a 1,000 download limit. That should last for quite a while. If all else fails, I'll just re-upload the songs with zero download-counts. :)

I appreciate the suggestion, but within two weeks I will have a premium account with a 1,000 download limit. That should last for quite a while. If all else fails, I'll just re-upload the songs with zero download-counts. :)
well sound cloud premium feature if you choose its pro plus for a year you save at least 208 euro. (i calculated the monthly payment for 12 month)  unless if someone donated 1000 euro to you well you have 2 year of pro plus account. but the lite is also ok...

If anyone can use it, there is no point in making it the official soundtrack Oo
What i mean is, if you want your own music for your game, don't let anyone else use it. That has nothing to do with being nice or not, it's just to make a Game unique.

And your song descriptions are a little... Well, can you even call that descritptions?

jomarcenter,

I'll be happy to work on some music for you. I urge you to check out my soundcloud page to see if you like any of the nine battle songs I've already written. Also, see if any of the more "dramatic" songs like "This is Not a Drill," "Treacherous Slopes," "Pre-Boss-Battle Tension" are what you're looking for. I take requests, but I have to limit myself, too. I will be happy to help if you can't find what you need.

I would like to know a little more about the scenes I'm supposed to be writing music for. Also, especially concerning the battle theme, have you checked my site for music that you might use? It would speed up the process if you could give me a little more detail. For instance, someone asked me for a song to go with a scene where characters were escaping a volcanic mine.

I have plenty of battle themes that might fit your "time travel boss" and lots of dramatic songs. Listen to some of these and compare them with what you're looking for.

I'm sorry, but I don't know when I'll have the music ready. Whatever information you can give me about these tracks will be extremely helpful. Otherwise, I may come up with something entirely different than what you want. Thanks for your patience.

I took out the stuff you've already done.

-Earth Spirit Boss Battle (In a desert)
-Demon Boss Battle (very tense music)
-Air Spirit Boss Battle (Maybe with a flute?)
-Fire Spirit Boss Battle (Maybe kinda like a remix of "This is NOT a Drill?")
-A remix of the Demon boss battle, but a bit more tense.
-A remix of Bloodlust (Maybe with a faster tempo?)
-A boss theme that gives the impression of a final battle (In the depths of He**)
and finally
-Remix of the final battle music.

And again, I don't mean to rush you, but (I mean this as a compliment) if the rest of my game uses perfection, the parts that don't will sound REEEEEALLY sucky.

He uses Sequel 3, a synthesizer software. It's free to use for the first month, I believe. I played around with it, but I couldn't come up with much, so I can't really contribute until I get the MIDI keyboard, which means 2k/2k3/retro music.

Now, If I can get some VOCALOID software, that'd be awesome as hell, because I can do synths and acapellas for music. [I studied up a bit since my last post in this thread. Not much, but enough to know a little bit of what amkrogh's special contributions are about.]

AuraMasterNeal,

Concerning a desert battle theme, my first draft of the "Insidia" battle theme had a guitar synth that might go well with some ambient Latin American percussion and synth. Here's the bit I'm referring to:

I like the desert battle theme! But I really need music for the rest of the bosses. And as I said, my game is released June 15! So, I'm not meaning to rush you, but I can't get music like yours anywhere else, so I need it from you!

EDIT: I was looking at your other music, and I think that Megaboss sounds great for the air sprit battle, and Boss Battle sounds great for the final battle. I'll keep looking to see if there's anything else I can use.

EDIT 2: Blood Mambo sounds good for the fire sprit battle, and "Don't Mess with Me" is PERFECT for the first demon boss battle. If you can still do the remixes, and the desert sprit boss battle, that would be awesome. Just to say, what I need now is:

-Earth Spirit Boss Battle (In a desert)
-A remix of "Don't Mess with Me", but a bit more tense.
-A remix of Bloodlust (Maybe with a faster tempo?)
-Remix of "Boss Battle"(Extremely fast).

I do know a bit about making music, and you saw my draft on the Robber battle theme, so I could also try out using that program you mentioned, after I get my own laptop with the money from selling my game.

EDIT: And BTW, thanks for helping with the music for my game when I had nowhere else to turn. As you've seen, I can make some OK music, but not NEAR as good as yours. Friends,

I have updated the song links in the initial post. Now the tracks are categorized by their intended use, including "Battle Themes," "Town & Map Themes," "Dungeon Themes," "Scenes," "Ambient Themes," "Character Themes" and "Inn Themes."

The purpose of this update is to make finding songs easier for you.

Also, do not be surprised if the links take you to a 5-second advertisement page. All of the resources listed in this thread are FREE, but I still need funds in order to keep providing you with my music.

To reach the music page, simply wait five seconds as the advertisement displays, then click the continue button in the upper-right-hand corner of the web page to go directly to the song's download page. Let me know if a link does not work, and I'll fix it ASAP.

As always, thanks for your support!

Hello, friends.

After taking a long hiatus from sharing music, I have uploaded a bittersweet theme for your game. The theme of the song is "unrequited love." Please remember that you do not have to ask me for permission to use my tracks in a commercial game. All of my SoundCloud tracks that are included in "Sound Color" albums are free to use. Please credit the composer as "Aaron Krogh."

311 - Love from Afar (Loop) - A soft theme for a character or a bittersweet scene. Based on the idea of an unrequited love theme.

P.S.

This post will add additional resources to this resource-themed thread and is not intended to necro-post or anything of that nature. I'm sharing my newest song for public use.

It's a lot happier-sounding than many of my tracks. I think the post-op pain treatment had a little something to do with its inspiration, haha.

Here's a remastered track from a few years ago that was a direct "sequel" to "148 - The Brother I Never Had." It's a little angsty, but I think it can be used in a sweet romantic scene or for a lonely character theme.

After hours of sorting through my music archives, I was able to recover and export over 100 of my first songs from 2006 - 2008. Most of these tracks were composed using MadTracker for Windows -- not an ideal program for the kind of music I was trying to make. Nevertheless, here they are... most of songs 24 - 141. Some were never finished, and they do not appear in this collection.

Discs 5 & 6 contain music written specifically for RPGs. Some songs were even made with 8-bit synthesizers.
Here is a bonus track that is available on Disc 5 in a slightly different version:

91-C Peaches - Mediafire Download

Edit: 18 tracks from songs 1-23 (2006) have been found! Disc 1 is now downloadable from Mediafire!

As usual, you have my permission to use these tracks commercially, if you so desire. However, please note that these are not the kinds of songs you have come to expect from me. The sound quality is MP3 320kbps, but these are raw exports, they do not loop, and they sound weird.

All right. Let the sharing begin!

Feel free to use any of these songs as you please, including for commercial projects.

Also, my original post contains a breakdown of songs according to their intended function / placement in a classic RPG game.

All songs are in MP3 format. Here are the new download links, hosted by MEGA:

SONGS 110, 147 - 314 (Includes all free SoundCloud releases and more! 2010-13)
DOWNLOAD ALL (245MB)

SONGS 001 - 105, 121 - 141 (Includes previously unreleased tracks from 2006-09)
DOWNLOAD PART 1 (344MB) | PART 2 (272MB)

I am sorry for any inconvenience. I will continue to write songs for this community, but I am still on hiatus and am not accepting requests at this time.

Thank you for your continued support. I hope you enjoy the tracks!

Sincerely,
Aaron Krogh

Damn! Pretty neat sounds! I'm stunned!  ;D

When I was listening to your sounds I came up with a question...
