I'll be honest: I'm not a programmer, game developer, or anything like that. I'm a writer. And I'm someone who's trying to run a game. I am on Window XP Home Edition.

The game in question is actually a little thing that someone on my game team for a project made up so that we could all listen to my music loops without having to open/have music editing programs. Basically a game. Thing is, when I try to run it, I get to the title screen, hit start, then this error pops up and the game closes itself:

This isn't the first time it's happened. I tried to play another game called "Lcddem" (kind of famous in the Yume Nikki community) and I get the same error, except all of the normal letters are question marks (???).

I looked through all my game files, and nothing seemed to have a box character in it. I even checked the .ldb, .lmt, and configuration settings files.

I've played other RPG maker games without any problems-- if I got them in .exe form. This is the thing that Lcddem and our game file have in common: they're not in exe form. So I'm currently in the process of trying to convert the files into an .exe format, hoping it'd help out. I've also asked the programmer on our team to try it as well. They haven't been able to help us much at all.

Here is the .zip for the game: http://www.4shared.com/file/5DpBLSy6/CHAIN_Project_Music_Box.html?

I've talked to one of the artists on our team, and she is able to play it, for some reason.

I do not know if it is because I need a certain language pack or not; I've tried to find a japanese language pack in order to run some other games from the Yume Nikki fandom, but unfortunately I do not have my installation CD for Windows, and I cannot download it from the official site.

Looking for a reply urgently. I'm sort of desperate, and I've looked through all twelve pages of this specific forum. Google doesn't have anything much either. And it's really hard to design a game when you.. can't play it.

At any rate, thanks for reading, and thanks for replying if you do reply. If it wouldn't be troublesome, if you have a solution, please email me at cyanicide(at)live.com.

It worked for me just fine. I don't know what to tell ya.

It's probably as you said with the language pack. I think your computer might have the settings itself though somewhere, I forgot how to set it up though. Sorry I couldn't help more. =(
