RMRK is retiring.

RMRK.net has nothing to do with Blockchains, Cryptocurrency or NFTs. We have been around since the early 2000s, but there is a new group using the RMRK name that deals with those things. We have nothing to do with them.
NFTs are a scam, and if somebody is trying to persuade you to buy or invest in crypto/blockchain/NFT content, please turn them down and save your money. See this video for more information.

The price of freedom is steep.
I was wondering if anybody remembers an old RPG maker.  Read all the way through - I know my description is vague, but I really don't have enough information on it, and I can't find anything about it anywhere.

A while back, I went to my friend's house, and he had an old RPG maker on his computer.  It was a fullscreen application, and completely keyboard controlled.  The main screen was basically black, with grey options.  On it, skills were learned only through items or levelups, and, if the game he made used "default" stuff, (It was either that, or an example project that came with it) the main characters were basically spheres with faces.

I don't remember a lot about it, and nor does he, since he had to reformat shortly after.  If I remember anything else about it, or he does, I'll be sure to post it here and add to this description.

From Wikipedia, the earlier version might just be it.
