Zelda Starter Kit Version 0.5

What is in this release:

• 2 ocarina songs, Change day to night/ call horse

What to look forward to in future releases:

• Better ocarina system
• Improved horse system
• Weapons

Hope you enjoy the version 0.5 and stay updated with this project. Comments/suggestions welcome.

You only need to press a z a z a z and its done =/

There is no other way to play the ocarina  :'(

ahh...I will have that fixed in the next version...I'm actually re-doing to WHOLE ocarina eventing, its going to be a lot better. Also fixing the horse riding if you didn't try riding the horse after you called it, lol.

The keys on mine were different z = R lol. I changed and its work now, how do you get off your horse...?

it is supposed to be space bar XD I remember changing the keys before upload it...hmmm...maybe that dosent work on pk and it reset the key?

Ahhh.... I'm having problems with this. When I try to start the game, it pops up, then turns off. Also, when trying to look at the project thing, not the game, it says : Project could not be read due to incompatability between software versions. XP

what version are you using? I know xp, but just normal xp or postulate knights?

This is a very cool start.

I don't really know scripting, so I'm not sure of how that script you call with the Ocarina common event works, but the button processing seems to work different on different computers.  For me, it wouldn't bring up the Ocarina sheet unless I pressed "D" and then the song was played for me by just hitting "Z" six times.

Still, I'm very interested to see more of this.

be prepared for this release...ive been starting on it..am stuck right now, but nothing I cant fix..so far turning out AWESOME.

I recomend you get a good ABS in next, something Zelda styled, and also add some BGMs and SEs in. (For BGMs I have all of the OOT and Links Awakening, if you want it )

Nou, could I help you develop this some more?
Some more advice, get con's heart life system, combine with ABS, I swear I saw a script that had buttons (Like in most LoZ games, how you can equip items to buttons) And finally, maybe sort out the database. E.G Add like Red Potion, Green Potion, Blue potion Etc. Etc.

things different:
(hopefully) working buttons are correct.
New song will change from morning to night!
Old song is improved to call horse.
Horse riding was taken out..(sorry) it was taken out to be improved.

Lolzers the buttons still dont work correctly the only one that works is the 1st set one after that it like crashes i cant move

Aw crap.... My buttons are configured differently. I recommend trying to press "W" to open up the ocarina screen.

:edit: After the ocarina screen, my guy can't move. XP He can still use the ocarina screen, though.

:yet another edit: If "W" worked for you, instead of "A", do "Z" and instead of "Z" do "D". Also, it only gets half frozen when I fail to play a song correctly

Yes I am using PK and when I go to equip and go down to accessory and press C it shows a blank space and then I press C again and it plays a sound that I equipped something but no window pops up.

you don't need to equip anything. I made it so you get the ocarina and already have it equipped.

after she says "you got ocarina" just press C

I havent got PK. W opens up the Oco, but when I press the button after A, it opens up a menu, and then I cant move.

Never mind people everything works for me. I can play both songs and I can still move when the Ocarina closes. Nice system you got there Nouman. If you are using PK change Z to Z and A to A, that's what helped me. And press W to bring up the window.

I played both songs.

It takes a while to happen. It's worked for me... A bit buggy in a couple of areas but it's good.

Are you using Pk or original RPG maker XP?

I'm using the origonal.

Ok for the PK. Play the game and after the horse ran away press F1 and change Z to z and A to a. Speak to the girl and memorize or write down both songs. Press W and play the first song completely until the sound is over. Then press enter. Check if you can move. Press W again and play the other song. Wait until the song is done and press enter, check if you can move.

I read that. So it worked. But at first I thought they were the keys.

What's GDM? And, I think everything would be so much easier if Nouman could just set it so it works for our default settings (because it appears to me more people have the non-Nouman settings). Just a suggestion.

To get mine working (I use Postality Knights) I pressed F1 and changed Z to Z instead of Z-A and A to A instead of A-Z. Then I got the Ocarina and Pressed W to bring up the window

:edit: YAY! It works near perfectly now! The only problem I had was that the first time I played the ocarina to call the horse, it went dark, came back to light, and then the horse came. Then when I played the Sun Song, nothing happened until I did it again. May have been like a 1 in a 100 thing.

DARN, I saw everyone say the horse song turned it to night and I wasted like 50 mins trying to fix all this stuff and got really angry that I couldn't find out why...then I realized it didn't turn it to night just when you were playing the song the timer on day and night switched...I play tested it.  but I will make that timer longer since it was wayy to short.

For a song...the song of storms! So, the effects are rain and thunder.

BTW, when you add ABS, try and add a heart system too

Hey, I downloaded it works great there are a few things that are wrong with it...like when you open  the ocarina sometimes if its night it will change to light..and im not sure if you add the menu thing and the top right corner but its not there? Also im not sure your supose to be able to ride the horse or now And one more thing besides its awesomeness... did you not put the file that lets you edit it or open it in the rpg maker?

Being able to view to the eventing will be in next realease. also horse riding was not in this one since I still cant find a link on horse charset, also no the menu thing is not in this version, its in the next. ANd thanks for pointing out the mistakes you had, it helps me for future releases.

I am actually merely "translating" events into scripts. Scripting might be tough, but making a working system whether it is event or script it is tough as well. Ok, I can leave the () brackets out. xD

This is really nice and it disappeared for a while, I think. (disappear = not posted in for a while) Are you aiming to get a spriteset of Link on the horse anytime soon? Just wondering, not being mean or stuff. Also, what songs are you planning on putting in this?

1) Okay, well, how about a teleporting song? It'd be way too hard to make your own but a song that brings up a menu to teleport to places you've been? Oh yeah, in LoZ:MM, the song the owl gives. Song of Soaring or something like that.

2) Zelda's Lullaby that can be used for certain places like in OoT for entrance into the Zora's Domain and the cemetary.

3) Song of Double Speed. This was in MM to skip ahead 12 hours or whatnot. Instead, this can be used to up your movement speed?

Can't think of anymore useful ones off the top of my head.

I would doubt it because it's from '07 but hell you never know. I don't think nouman ever got very far with this.
