Title: Fiberlicious~
Post by: Jules on September 06, 2014, 08:25:14 PM
I'm in the process of making Christmas presents for my immediate and extended family.  And I just thought I would share them with you guys. :)  Sorry for the crappy pictures, ignore any messes you see o.o I live in my home, I don't worry about it being perfectly clean lol xD

Each of my nieces chose colors they liked, and they know I am making something for them, but they have no idea what. These are the first two lapghans I have finished.

This one is for Hannah (she's 12) (I still have some stray threads to tuck in on hers)

This is for Katie-girl, who is 1.

Thanks!

My current WIPs:

A "fall colors" chevron curtain for my daughter.  She picked the colors, I really like them:

The beginning of a peace sign granny sqaure.  Only 100 more to go and I'll have an afghan! (I exaggerate)

I gave up on that sucker. It was a pain to crochet.  I am doing a different peace sign granny square.  I would never have finished in time for Christmas lol

So I put the blankets on hold, I'm going to give them those for their birthdays, which are early next year.  I've been working hard on Christmas gifts for the last few months.

For my nephews (who are both football fans) I made Clemson hats and mittens.  And because we drew Logan's name for our gift exchange, I made him a "Daniel" Lion (our local high school team).

Then for Mandy I made an infinity scarf and I'm currently working on a slouch hat.

YOU TOTALLY SHOULD!  You're the biggest reason I started crocheting and knitting, seeing all of the amazing things you made.  <3

Aww, thank you :ladyj: The top one wasn't too bad. It's granny squares crocheted together. I guess there is about 24 hours of work in it. The bottom one was a PAIN IN THE BUTT, though I like it a lot.  I worked on it around 4-5 hours a day, EVERY day for 3 weeks. These were both birthday gifts. The top one was for Audrey, I had nothing done on it at the end of December and I finished it by Jan 20th.  The bottom was for Elizabeth and I had about half of the peace sign squares done when I finished Audreys, and NONE of the spirals. So the day after I gave Audrey her blanket I started on the rest of the squares for Liz's. I worked on it every spare minute I had and finished it at 10:30pm Valentine's day. Her birthday is Feb 15th. I swore I was never again promising afghans for birthday gifts! lol  I am so very glad these are done. I enjoy knitting and crocheting, but not when I have to rush to get things done. Speaking of birthday gifts, I forgot to include these:

My sister's kitchen set (she's a Clemson Tigers fan, their colors)

Her husband's .. beanie? whatever..

No, but only because I've made all of them as gifts for my nieces, I want to make myself one. I freeze almost year round lol

I'd recommend trying tunisian crochet. It's a bit like a cross between knitting and crochet, and it works up super quickly once you get the hang of it. Plus it's a thicker stitch so it'd be really warm, and color changes are much smoother.

I have just started learning tunisian, in fact this:

was made with tunisian. (is that how you say it?)  I enjoyed it and will probably try to make myself an afghan with it, since I am always cold!  For my nieces I honestly needed something that I knew and could do without learning it. And granny squares I know lol  It's the first thing I ever practiced.

Ps. You need to post more of your stuff! You were the biggest reason I got into knitting and crocheting, and it has been a life saver for me. I feel much less stressed when I am doing it (unless I'm trying to get a project done within a time limit, then I am super stressed out! >_<)
