Title: Best Newbie
Post by: Roph on December 10, 2013, 07:33:13 PM
Aside from many robots trying, real humans still occasionally join RMRK. Which member that's shown up in the last year or two has really struck you as being a valuable addition to the community?

akatharsia (http://rmrk.net/index.php?action=profile;u=20205)

I only ever chatted with her in IRC and it's been a while since I did that, but she is/was awesome.

Hmm... well, technically I joined in 2011, but only became active again this past year... Does that count?

Don't nominate yourselves, guys. :mad:

Since Akatharsia was already taken, I'll come up with 3 other noms. ;o

...Sometime. Right now, I can't decide on who to nominate.

It's a skinny category this year, although I admit I have been focused elsewhere and I apologise.

Me and bluntsy already won it, though. ;_;

I'm flattered.

Remember that you can search for who signed up in the last year or two.

I'm going ultimatezix.

Since I have no idea who's new or has been a user for at least 2 years, I shall skip my vote, unless voting myself is an optional.

The reason its so hard to pick a Best Newbie this year is because they all keep nominating themselves, darn it. :mad:

It's a bit of an unwritten rule with RMRK that you cannot nominate or vote for yourself. I'm sure there are higher powers that can see who you voted for and bring shame upon thy name. Of course, I may be wrong about that. Nobody correct me, though. :mad:

Then I shall vote for no one. I do not believe in the online hierarchy :rtroll:

akatharsia (http://rmrk.net/index.php?action=profile;u=20205)

Wait, do 2011 joiners count? I hope so, because I second the aka nomination. B]

Also, if that's the case, I could totally nominate Dr. Mc (2011), right? :V

And Lige (http://rmrk.net/index.php?action=profile;u=21206)? He hasn't talked much on the forums, but I've talked with him via PM and he's really chill. I think he has great potential. :] He also joined in 2011, but he literally hasn't spoken on the forums until this year.

And also, threeofspades still qualifies for this (2012), but she's not exactly on the forums anymore. Maybe she will return someday, but I dunno. ;_;

every newbie who nominated themselves should be given a worst newbie award.

I don't know about any new people who've hung around the IRC this year much, but a look at the members list for 2013 have very few people that leave an impression. My nominations have to go to the three that at least stand out in my memory in either a positive or negative light:

Miriam Blutleer (a.k.a. Octavia) (http://rmrk.net/index.php?action=profile;u=28890). I'm sure a great deal of the forum was annoyed with this MLP fan during the GIAW this past summer, but at least I'll give 'em credit for being persistent and not letting the jibes get to them. Could have easily went BAWWW and won the drama whore award, but instead they remained upbeat and pleasant throughout it all. Props for that.

Deranged (a.k.a. Long Duck Dong) (http://rmrk.net/index.php?action=profile;u=28896). Who the hell are you again? I vaguely remember you posting around before, but it's only your recent posts that made me think of you for this. But hey, you've been more active than a lot of newer members and are here for more than just asking for help, so you've got one of my nominations.

Rekios (a.k.a. GAME STEALER) (http://rmrk.net/index.php?action=profile;u=28918). You probably stand out in everyone's memories, but I doubt it's in a good way. Still, if the whole incident with Arlen's games didn't happen, you probably would have been a decent newbie to have around.

DR. MC

I figure akatharsia is timeless xD   I actually saw she'd joined in 2011, but I figured I'd stretch that last couple of years thing out a little   :ma:

akatharsia and ultimazix are the only real options.
