Title: 'Les Misérables'
Post by: Tsunokiette on December 26, 2012, 07:52:41 AM
Omg, I had tears the entire time. Except for Sacha Baron Cohen, he made me laugh.

I loved Hugh's acting and his gruff powerful voice was appropriate. He's not a classically trained opera singer like Alfie Boe, so his singing wasn't as *good* in that sense obviously, but it was still emotionally charged and grabbed me by the balls. I very much enjoyed it. Anne, Amanda, and Samantha killed it (in a good way).

Before I watched it I was wary of Sacha as a casting choice, but seeing it in film, he and Helena were very appropriate (Characters were wicked to the core and entertaining on occasion).

The finale... OMG... I just... I ran out of tears. That's the only way I can describe it. The story hits home for me so I've always been extra affected by it but it's incredibly powerful either way.

Finale lyrics (spoilers obviously)

I don't have cable, so tell me, was this just re-released, or re-done or something? I swear it's blowing up my facebook feed, and I have no idea why.

It's the musical version and was just released in theatres. It stars Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, and Amanda Seyfried. As far as I know, it's the first time the musical was made into a Hollywood film.

It was really good. I took my Mom to it as a Christmas gift, and I think it ended up being more of a gift to me than her. I usually don't like filmed musicals, but this is an exception.

The production values are through the roof. It's like somebody took the effects budget from a transformers movie, and instead made a depressing musical.

This comment made me laugh. I approve. I would have just said "haha", but when I previewed it it looked sarcastic, and I wanted you to know that my laughter was genuine.
