Title: Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Post by: Karo Rushe on January 21, 2011, 03:13:46 PM
What is Puella Magi Madoka Magica?

Quote
Puella Magi Madoka Magica (???????????, Mahou Shoujo Madoka?Magika) is a production of studio SHAFT and Aniplex (under Iwakami Atsuhiro as main producer) directed by Akiyuki Shinbo, and written by Gen Urobuchi with original character designs by Ume Aoki together they formed a group "Magica Quartet". Character design adaptation by Takahiro Kishida and music by Yuki Kajiura. It is an original story anime from which three manga spin-off series are planned. Puella Magi Madoka Magica began development after Akiyuki Shinbo expressed his desire to work on a new magical girl series to producer Atsuhiro Iwakami while they were working on Hidamari Sketch and Bakemonogatari. (Wikipedia) The show is broadcasted on MBS and TBS and will be 12 episodes long.

Plot:
There exist familiars who have the power to grant one wish to a chosen girl. However, that girl must then become a magical girl and fight against witches, evil creatures born from curses that are responsible for murders and suicides. A schoolgirl named Madoka Kaname and her friend Sayaka Miki are approached by a familiar named Kyuubey and magical girl named Mami Tomoe with offers of becoming magical girls, while another magical girl Homura Akemi tries to prevent Madoka and friends from making such a deal...

I know it kinda sounds like some kiddy show or something, I first thought so but, after watching up to episode three, I found this to be actually good. Heck, combine Magical Girls with Goethe's Faust; heck there some quotes mentioned or written.

10 episodes so far, and I say it's still the best in this season.

I just watched up to episode 10 yesterday with my fiance.  Was pretty good, totally did NOT expect what happened in episode three to happen. xD

Just like to point out, Sankaku Complex (who are to weaboos what Fox News is to Republicans) has mentioned (http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2011/03/11/puella-magi-madoka-magica-x-godly-best-yet/) how incredibly well-received this anime is becoming. There have also been concerns (http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2011/03/03/madoka-will-be-cancelled/) of this anime possibly being banned, but nothing more on that so far.

Tell me, where do you go to watch this series?

I heard that the show is sadistically messed up and has a good plot by a friend of mine, so I'm going to take a look.

Why would it get banned?  o_o  I've seen lots of things far worse and macabre, lol.

One word: Ishihara.

The new restrictions in place effectively make it so that a porn or adult label is required on anything that depicts "unnatural sexual acts or illegal activity" or something like that. It's a very vague law, but it has caused a few changes so far. Some series have chosen to cancel their run, rather than be forced to label it as adult content and significantly reduce the legal viewer demographic.

That being said though, it's probably a scare for nothing. As I said, this site is very biased and they like to sensationalize things. Chances are this particular series won't be touched at all. There's much more risque stuff being released as we speak.

Oh well.  Lucky for me I don't fantard into anime or manga very easily at all.  Maybe this way it'll shun out the youngins.

I go to watch it at animefreak.tv btw.  They're pretty good about uploading.

Ok, thanks for the tip.
Oh, and I've got some bad news. (http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2011/03/16/madoka-cancelled/) Well, no. THEY'VE got some bad news. I'm just relaying it. Not the worst thing that could happen though, and probably something they'll recover from. Guess this is a good time for me to start this series up and catch up.

Oh well.  It's just an anime.  Though...it makes me sick lately with people bitching more about the cancellation of their anime than the loss of lives over there, lol.  Damn weeaboos.

It seems as though people don't realise that they have a choice in what they watch. It sickens me that people force shows to be cancelled based on things that they have no business in because they can just change the fucking channel. Seriously.

Uh just about everything is being postponed right now because of the quake.  That article means nothing, the title is misleading as the contents specifically states that it's the broadcasts being cancelled, not the entire show.

It's just postpone Animefan, not canceled, also, the point of why they said of canceling was because of the 'Violence' scene, nothing else, nothing more.

.__. And the Producer/Director said he wanted to do a "Second Season & be a 'Slice-of-Life'." *cough*

Like I said, they are the Fox News of anime fanatics. And my bad, I didn't mean to make it sound like a cancellation. I knew from the get-go it was just postponing. Sankaku Complex is an acceptable news site, so long as you remember to always read the details when you go there. The headlines always pull too much debatable meaning from things.

I got some additional news (http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2011/03/19/madoka-director-wants-second-season-as-slice-of-life/) about the series by the way. Just to put things in perspective, a "slice-of-life" is something like Azumanga Daioh. Let us remember that although the director "wants" it, doesn't necessarily mean it will be so. But hey, the possibility is there.

No, sankaku complex have become more like 'opinion' & crap about either Hirano's constant tweets to Child molestations & stuff with opinions. It's become just like 4chan, even if they don't admit it.

And Second Season been happy-slice-of-life? Yeah right . . .  Here's a video to educate yourself what to expect yet again:

(Beware, spoilers for those who haven't seen up to episode 3 . . . )
