Title: RMRK Now Runs SMF2
Post by: Roph on May 12, 2010, 04:37:15 AM
Alot of things need fixing like youtube tags, spoilers, things like that. No need to let me know about those. Things will get very cool very fast. In the meantime, enjoy posting again :)

As for other things, (besides the obvious) if you notice anything awray that needs fixing, please post about it :zwink:

As for me I'm going to sleep, it's nearly 6am I spent like 8 hours fighting with all this stuff :a:

This is cool. Also weird and needs a new theme, but it's awesome that we're on SMF2 now :)

Spoiler for:
Also, spoiler tags aren't working :(

Thanks for all the hard work Roph! :)

Title: Re: RMRK Now Runs SMF2
Post by: Moss. on May 12, 2010, 03:21:35 PM
Nope. Nevermind. On some forums, quick reply-ing more than once, without being interrupted, doesn't make multiple posts, it automatically edits the first post to add in the new post.
Guess that doesn't work here yet but LOL TRIPLE POST

Triple post because I can.

I've been getting familiar with SMF 2 via Liquiron (http://liquiron.com/), another site of mine. You can do alot more cool integration (crankeye.com tutorial system rewrite someday soon for example) and neato stuff on the forums. I'd started to write an original theme for SMF2 for that site (example (http://liquiron.com/forum/?theme=7)). Was planning to finish that and then re-do rmrk based on it but this server stuff made me switch now :/

They're written very similar, you can probably tell looking at liquiron that it's based on RMRK/crankeye. Liquiron.com's homepage is based on what I wrote for crankeye.com, with alot of upgrades. Now that RMRK is SMF 2 also I can backport alot of it  ^-^

Weird. When I tried to copy code text, which looked like this in the code box:

def calc_hpmp_bonuses (item = nil, sign = true)
 return if item == nil
 hp = sign ? item.maxhp : -item.maxhp

It came out like this:

def calc_hpmp_bonuses (item = nil, sign = true)    return if item == nil    hp = sign ? item.maxhp : -item.maxhp

All in a horizontal line.

Didn't happen with the old SMF. Kinda annoying if you're trying to copy and paste stuff.

When we switched, it set my profile so that ANY thread I post in gets put on my notification list. I had to manually turn it off again.

The theme that I was working on for SMF2 (and then was going to base the new RMRK theme on was for liquiron. I've installed it on RMRK so you can see / test how it's working - http://rmrk.net/?theme=35

Not too far away from an invasion of purple :)

Apparently that million thank yous is a game. When you reach the end, it says "play again." ;8

This is the beginning of the greeting text, consectetuer adipiscing elit, sed diam nonummy nibh euismod tincidunt ut laoreet dolore magna aliquam erat volutpat. Ut wisi enimad jenhsdy 200 characters. Rud exerci tation ullamcorper suscipit lobortis nisl ut aliquip ex ea commodo consequat. Duis autem vel eum iriure dolor in henderit in vulputate velit esse molestie consequat, eut feugiat nulla facilisis at vero eros et accumsan et iustod odiodi this is the end of sample greeting text, 500 characters.

I'm glad the forums survived whatever it was...I need to learn to check back in, but life gets me :C

I like the theme, personally. Sure, its white and doesn't really have a banner, but I like simple lol
It could have a darker theme though, 'cause my eyes suck.

I like the design of the forum too. Kinda reminds of Vb.

When the sidebar does come back it won't be togglable (it's done via CSS, 4 need to be written & this new theme's classes are pretty much all different). In time though  :zwink:

Another weird thing is the current spike, I'm not sure where it's coming from lol. I should probably setup google analytics or something to figure it out, but for whatever reason there are a hell of alot more people browsing than what's been normal.

Hey Roph. When people using Internet Explorer copy stuff from a code box, it will come out all on one line when they paste it. It makes sharing scripts a little hard.

Ok, that's weird. The markup is fine, and firefox, opera, chrome etc all work with it fine. Once again microsoft sucks Cthulhu damn ass and has to do stupid shit with IE.

I'll see if there's any IE specific thing I can do :|

In the mean time, get firefox (http://www.getfirefox.com)  >:(

It is just in the plain text clipboard storage that it should happen. Meaning, if you copied some code from IE into wordpad (which supports rich text), it correctly preserves the line breaks.

I originally tried to write exta [ruby] tags based on client-side javascript syntax hilighting / selecting / copying etc, but SMF refused to play nice in letting content of <pre> tags go through unchanged. Makes sense, to stop hacking attempts, but I can handle it =|

They could also quote the post (so they end up at a post form containing the content of that post) and then directly copy the un-formatted content from there. Really, they should just stop using the piece of shit that is Internet Explorer :/
