Post by: Falcon on January 27, 2007, 08:36:17 PM
Pokemon Obsidian

Story
As we get team members, we will decide on a story. We plan to have a story more darker, and have better character development than the official Pokemon games.

Lord Dante (Spriter)

Recruitment
We are currently looking for the following:

Mappers who can make game worlds
Spriters who can create pokemon spriters

So wait, you're killing the other one? What the fuck man?

Whatever, but could you at least put up your project files and such? No need to wreck it for everyone.

EDIT: Sorry, misunderstood something, I thought it was your project when it is actually Lominisio's...My bad. just the same, if you have any resources that no one else had, it would be nice if you shared.

For most purposes, GMS.NET is RPG Maker XP, except free of charge, and it uses Visual Basic.

See it for yourself:

Hey, all.  Before you settle into a thread posting info on your game, you deserve to know how things work around here.

First and foremost:
RPG Maker games ONLY!!
This is the RPG Maker Resource Kit forum.  Only games made with Enterbrain's RPG Maker programs may be posted in the Projects/Games section.  If you want to share with us a game made with Game Maker 6, M.U.G.E.N., or any other program, please post it in the Creativity Outlet.

Sorry about that but he is right. :-\

Could we not turn this in to a discussion about GMS.net? Near is still fixing things with the program.

Also, we may be using RMXP, since I found a better system.

actaully most likly we have mapping and eventing done. the main reason for mapping is because everyone has a different style, and in
a pokemon game you need one style because its ONE BIG MAP so me and darklord have it covered. eventing actually we might need some help. But we will have to get back to you when we need it.

Nouman, I'm mainly doing the script work :P Besides, you can always use a couple mappers.

Anyways, post an example if you want to join :P
Title: Re: Pokemon Obsidian
Post by: Lord Dante on January 30, 2007, 12:09:57 AM
oh...thats a good point...it is all one big map...

Actually, you can get around that. You know how they have the "transit" station things? well, i know you can see beyond them, but what you could do is map to where the player would see on one map, and then on the other side of the station you could map identically, but it could still be a different map.

Do you get what I'm saying?

This had been discussed numourous times on my thread. You overlap the maps. I'm wondering weather to do that or not. I'm thinking about NOT doing it on my game so it also doesn't seem as much like this one.
Title: Re: Pokemon Obsidian
Post by: :) on January 30, 2007, 12:15:17 AM
I already found a solution using the triggers, events, and battles to make it seeem like you are in the same map...buts its hella long process to make inorder to get rid of the overlapping map lag
Title: Re: Pokemon Obsidian

No no, do it...I'm making my maps so that they do that anyway, and besides, it doesn't even matter if you both do it, I've started doing it in all of my stuff now. It just looks more proffesional, everyone should do it.

before this gets off topic, (reason I left the other game....) lets stop that discussion..if you want to talk about it transfer it here

http://rmrk.net/index.php/topic,11934.0.html

and we are using xp...both games overlapping is making a mapX2 just extended and looks like the next map but you actaully jump by teleporting...but you dont notice since your surroundings look the same/

Title: Re: Pokemon Obsidian

No tell her to use them as bases, but to edit more, this will help her keep to the style without it being as noticable that she did that.

Also, make it a parrot poke'mon, it could like, be a random color every time you ran into it, because it was electric and electricity produces white light which is a spectrum and parrots are rainbow colored mostly and blah blah blah...

I WANT METOTTER! I WANT IT NOW, DAMNIT!

By the way, figured I would share this concept with you, I'm reposting it from the pokemon topic in videogames.

Quote from: arrowone
It would be nice if instead of LEVEL UP = INSTANT ALL STAT PLUS, you like...made level ups less useful, and made it so you trained pokemon as if they were real. Like for stamina, you would take them to the pool and have them swim or something. Not only does this make the game a bit harder (in a good way) it makes things interesting, and it's a huge opportunity for mini-games.

To make it even MORE interesting, and to add incentive to beating the gym leaders, you could make it like say...Misty is at the water gym, and the only one with a public pool for miles around. You aren't a local resident (this goes back to what I said in the shadow topic about starting at a city based on a personality quiz- which he isn't useing by the way so the idea is up for grabs) you have to get her badge to use the pool.

Now i'm interested in this game now.
Title: Re: Pokemon Obsidian
Post by: :) on January 30, 2007, 02:17:48 AM
this game will include numerous things far beyond new pokemon. as I said you can level up your fishing skills, and even MIGHT have a choice to pick easy or hard

also something that will be added to hard mode:
you need to train your pokemon to use HM's at full  ;D
arrow...im going to make it tough! if you don't train your Pokemon wont fly to where you want, simply falling somewhere based on how much you had trained it, same with swimming don't train it! well try and sit on it! it will drown once you ride it past its limit.

BOYA IDEA
in both easy and hard, you will have to practice your pokemon catching  :D
what I mean is yes there is a poke ball/great ball/ultra ball/blah blah blah but each will have a skill level! more you cath higher the level for the certain ball, better luck of catching pokemon...something like once you level your pokeball to 10 it will be just as good as a ultra ball at level 2.

Awesome now that we has this new guy, I can focus more on the staff Pokemon. I figure all staff members have special custom versions of the pokemon they are using(for example Dante's Scizor). I can also begin work on trainers.

I have a few more new pokemon comming up =P but I dont feel like posting them...eh....JK I will as soon as done with stats...she dosen't let me post until her stats are done XD

*update*
In hard mode your pokemon will also have a "trust" meter (or whatever I change the name too) you know how when you don't have the right badge it will not obey, well now if your pokemon's trust level is HIGH enough, it will still obey you up to 5 levels higher then the badge you have can go...but that also means if they don't trust you enough no matter the badge, they will sometiles fall asleep in battle and so forth.

if anyone (arrowone) dosen't want this in hard mode please tell me.

umm just a few suggestions on the names you have so far...
Serpindye could be spelt Serpindee that way it has a specific pronounciation
Cascadewave maybe Cascadeway is better, i dunno
Trunkferno could be Trunkerno just so the name flows better
Nexusadon can be Nexutadon

i dont have to be the official name person, but i guess if you agree with my suggestions you can change them, its really up to you guys
Title: Re: Pokemon Obsidian

Cascadewave sounds a bit unlike a name to me...Cascadon, or Cascadra maybe...Cascadewave sounds like a PLACE.

...Or a Transformer....

Looks like a yellow- furred bat. Remember to try and make them a little smaller, and the shading should be more apparent. Also, I notice that the side facing the light source isn't black on the sprites, rather, its a dark version of the color it is next to.

Me and my brother could probably work on this. My brother stopped working on his pokémon game because he didn't think that having two pokémon games out would be a good idea. It could create a lot of problems if they were competing. He's going to start it up again though if this one falls apart.

Spoiler for Question:
Have you figured out who my brother is yet? :D

Lomi was working on it. He decided that the other team would be rushed if both games were competing and then they wouldn't be as good. He's still slowly working on it though as he's not sure if this game will make it or not. If this game dies he's going to repost his thread. ^_^

I hate to say this but any pokemon you get won't be special until you contribute more to the project. Sorry if I sound like a dick but you already got 1 special pokemon so you will have to do more work to have 2. Nouman only will have one for now(course he has a fancy mewtwo so you could count it as 2)

I do plan on making a Snorlax/Sudowudo type pokemon. I'm thinking a Bird, Tortoise or Ape like pokemon for this. Of course I do have a non custom idea that would work and would be different from Snorlax and Sudowudo but I'll have to confront Dark about this.

How about...a hippo type pokemon. Thats dead lazy, but has awesome attacks if you evolve it (Kinda like a magikarp or w/e)

k, but we don't need a mapper, unless you can do team rocket style mapping. Like indoors and outdoors for team rocket base. I am the main mapper and I can handle most of the other stuff.

also if anyone can rip animations WE NEED YOU.

1. This pokemon can jump great heights with ease and when focused can easily punch through steel.
2. Fighteon has pockets in it's skin that when hit heals the pokemon's wounds.

Fighteon is the evolved form of Eevee after leveling up equipped with a Black Belt.

Umm...if you want to make it all one map, just finish all of the maps solo, and then add up the space and copy/space them together. Just a tip. And don't use black space where there's no walking space, trees is what they use in the game.
