Masamune 2: Project Chaos
« on: February 07, 2010, 05:32:18 PM »

  • I'm keeping quiet about the contents
It's the sequal to Spirit Ship, the codename 'Project Chaos' comes from the game's storyline

40 Years after the Incident in the dark world, Masamune is still 18 years old (he turns 18 during Spirit Ship), this Event has caused a time lock to anyone who survived in the Dark World, all the past events have been locked in time and aren't accessible by Time Travel (this game's main feature).
Masamune finds all the bodies from the Dark World have escaped, with one deadly secret waiting in the shadows

When Spirit Ship is released, I'll read reviews, and right the wrongs with this game

  • you know, why announce a sequel when you haven't even finished the first one yet.  That's such a bad idea.

The first one is essentially finished, just clearing stuff up while beginning the sequel
I want at LEAST one game in this series once a year, not to mention spin-offs if the first two do well

  •   I can't really judge or critic your game because you have no screen shots, you tell nothing about the story, and you haven't even released/finished the first one.

  • Here is my feedback

    1. if you are keeping it secret then how can we give you feedback in this thread
    2. the first one did seem to have bad mapping/writing based on the video
    3. RPG Maker games are not meant for sequels, only exceptions may be Eye Of The Tiger or Vacant Sky (though it hardly counts considering you keep stats so it is basically just like older games where you change "disc"

basically, only make one game, maybe at parts have the screen do some weird Quentin Tarantino style "chapter dividers" and don't ever get too far ahead of yourself.

This is your local NPC saying "Good luck, and some items, like tents, can only be used outside of battle."
Why do 1 lined nameless NPCs never get taken seriously?

The Legend of Zelda is a franchise that sells because it tends to be good. People bought it out of fandom. You however do not have a huge following to the Masamune series
    2. ive read feedback and attempted to improve on that
That is good, however there is always more to be done and sharing the remade project is the best way to make it even better.

Don't start with a trilogy. Release your whole story at once instead of making the player have to wait for sequels and eventually loose interest. Or simply feel cheated by the lack of ending and feel like the whole game was worthless. Despite how more epic "trilogy" sounds to you, don't expect the word to draw in fans. (remember, both the Star Wars and LODR trilogies were originally going to be one story that had to be stretched into 3 due to length)

    1. thats true i guess, well i dont guess it just is true lol
    2. im only just storyboarding at the moment
    3. that wasnt my intention, and the trilogy carries the same story but without a cliffhanger to wait for the end of, its not like doctor who serials or anything, its just like a sort of series block, like Pokemon mystery dungeon

  • I think I'm gonna reveal more of Masamune 2 next month, including the official title, characters and screens, plus some dungeon names....

Im saying this because Spirit Ship is essentially finished and will be released in March, sooner then I expected, Project Chaos will be a shorter wait since it's Masamune part 2 in a way, and the trilogy will end this Summer/Autumn

Valdred can you be my tester for the finished version? I finished it a LOT longer than expected, but I'm working solidly on Project Chaos as from.... well tonight, the start is concetrating on beating the 5 other Samurai, to ultimately become no1, which wll be the main bulk of the game now, I havent done the ending for Spirit Ship yet but yeah, I'll do it soon

Project Chaos.... It's REAL title is........

    Update on Sword of Spirits

    Storyline:
5 years have passed since Masamune was transported to the Dark World, when he leaves he finds that the Village that Osha lived in has been turned to ruins, then falling into a dungeon, he finds Pyra, the god of fire and after a battle Masamune's transported to fort minor (remember the name :P) and that's where a lot of the game is based, a Hub world if you will, so now Masamune is relaxed at Fort Minor he hear's that a new evil is approaching,   Masamune has to find out what it is and stop it, also while beating the last 7 Samurai to elevate his way to the top

Don't expect this game until the end of the year, maybe even next year.
The game basically follows on directly from Spirit Ship. While not feeling like a teased squeal, it follows on from SS quite smoothly
