  • I for one am looking forward to playing this. Blizzard's put four years of work into this game, so I'm sure it's good; it was when I last played the demo. Who cares if the maps aren't outstanding and there's no lighting? Chaos Project has never really been about "look I'm a good mapper!" Blizzard's game is more about gameplay and story, in my opinion.

  • Irock is right.

Blizzard's mapping style isn't the detailed and complex style we're used to, it's a more bare and efficient style that suits him as a programmer.

The big point to this game is the story is fun to play through, and the battle system has unique quirks that separate it from the standard without being unfamiliar. Oh yeah, and minigames, lots of those.

I agree that the maps could use a little sprucing up, and there are dissonant colors and fonts and battler styles and etc... but I think that making a 20 hour game into an 80mb project just so that it's easier for people to download is worth the sparse mapping, and let's face it, Blizzard likes the color scheme how it is.  We might not find it as pleasing to the eyes but we're not the developer are we?

Criticism has been noted, there's no reason to beat it into the dertt.

As far as windowskins go, iirc Blizzard made it so that you could use your own windowskin if you wanted to so that's really a non-issue.

  • The 1.0.0.1 patch is out. It addresses a few minor issues, but you should update anyway. I'll post the download link for the full 1.0.0.1 download as soon as it's uploaded.

EDIT: Eh, I redirected the download links to one single location. It's annoying to have to update several topics each time I have to put up a new version. ._.

  • My bad. I meant complementary. >.<

Actually complementary colors do quite the opposite. They relax the eyes due to the fact that they cancel each other's effects on the eyes out which creates a similar relaxing effect on the eyes as natural grey does because of the electrical polarization of the eye nerves (can't remember the exact name).
They do, but you didn't execute it very well. The banner looks horrid, imho.

Just because they're complementary colours doesn't mean they can be slapped on something and it's automatically relaxing to the eyes.

  • The banner is just cut out from the title screen. A large portion of the background is missing so the banner looks too vivid. That background is mainly black and very dark.
