Alright, so there are a lot of boards here and you, hereafter referred to as Mr(s). Newcomer, don't know where to put the topic that you are dying to post.
Well Mr(s). Newcomer, the section you are in now, is the
RMXP root forum, and the topics that you should post here are ones where you have a small question on how to do something in the program - for instance, if you want help making some event system that you are working on, or if you don't understand what a specific event command does. This is the board for that sort of thing. For questions of this sort, we highly recommend you look through both this board and the Tutorials Database before posting your topic, as a number of common questions have been asked and answered already.
Now, this board also has five child boards, and some of them have childboards, in such a way that it looks like this:
RMXP
Alright Mr(s). Newcomer, now it's time to explain each Board in turn.
RMXP ProjectsThis is where you go if you are looking for inspiration by playing and critiquing other people's games that are being made in RMXP. While some may not have demos, all will be projects that are very far along and all will have some way of helping you improve your own RM skills, either by impressing you or by leaving such a mark on your soul that you know you will
never do what that maker did in his game. You cannot post your own projects in this board, as there are certain qualifications a project must first meet before being moved to this board.
RMXP New ProjectsThis is where RMXP projects are placed when they are in their beginning stages. If you want feedback on your ideas for a game, on your maps, or simply just some idea of how your game would be perceived before you go through with making it, then this is the place to go. Once a project in this section meets the criteria, it will be moved to the regular
RMXP Projects section for more advanced feedback and critique.
RMXP TroubleshootingNow Mr(s). Newcomer, this is where any technical problems should be placed. Any problems you encounter with the RMXP program itself, rather than problems you encounter with the game making process, should be posted here. These can include compatibility between operating systems, data not loading properly, or even problems you notice within the program, such as your character always moving left inexplicably. Anything where the problem is with the program itself really.
RMXP ScriptsThe purpose of this section is to provide a place for you to post your own RGSS scripts (original or modified) in this board. They do not have to be major modifications, even something as simple as making a specific script compatible with another specific script is fine, as long as you have the author's permission for the script you have modified. Any completed script should be posted on this board. Also, they do not have to be your own original scripts, they can be written by another person but you
must have their permission to post it on this site. As well, if you have script ideas that you want feedback on, or are writing a script and want feedback on the layout, post them here. Also, the scripts section has some special rules, so be sure to read the
Rules before posting.
RMXP Scripts DatabaseThis section is where all useful and original (posted by the author) scripts go. This is the very first place you should go when looking for scripts to put into your game. Remember to give credit for all scripts that you use in your game.
RMXP Script RequestThe purpose of this section is for requesting scripts to be made by someone other than yourself. Also, if you are looking for major modifications to an existing script, then here would also be a good place to post that. Note, however, that it is common courtesy to
first ask the author of the script, and if he says no, then ask him for permission to ask someone else. It is not absolutely necessary, but scripters will feel more comfortable modifying a script if they have the original author's permission. Also, be absolutely sure your topic meets the criteria listed in
this topic. Or else Falcon will get his feathers ruffled.
RMXP Script SupportThe purpose of this section is for asking for help on existing scripts, or for support and aid in writing your own script. Good topics for this are asking for help fixing errors that have arisen in a script, like compatibility issues (if possible, ask the script creator for aid first). Also, if you are writing a script and are unsure how to do something, then this is also the place for that type of topic.
RMXP ResourcesResources can be defined as any and all graphics and audio files which can be used in RMXP. This is the place where you should request the creation of resources by someone other than yourself, and also where you should place your custom resources that are
not meant to be used by others. I.E. If you are looking for feedback on resources you have created, then this is the place to put them. Note: if you do not want your resources stolen, then it is up to you to protect them. Also, if you are requesting a resource, please read the
Rules for Requesting.
RMXP Resource DatabaseThis is where all complete resources are placed that are meant for public use. For that reason, it is the first place you should go when looking for a resource of any sort. Also, if you have created some resources for RMXP and wish to share them, then this is the place to post them. Remember to give credit for any resources that you use in your project.
RMXP TutorialsThis is the board where you should go if you wish to request or post a tutorial or event system. Tutorials are usually on broad topics, such as how to map a certain type of map or how to create a specific type of resource. Event systems are systems made by events only that perform a specific function, such as a Day-Night system. In general, what separates an Event System from an Event Tutorial is that while Tutorials explain why and what to do, Event systems only explain what to do. Remember: before you post a request, look through the Tutorials and Event Systems database to make sure that it has not already been done.
RMXP Tutorials DatabaseThis is where all the most useful tutorials go. This is the first place you should go when looking for an explanation of a function in RMXP.
RMXP Event SystemsThis is where all completed Event Systems go. This is the first place you should go when looking for an Event System for your game.
