In memory of Lena Bergqvist (1957-2008). Love you mother

Story

For the generation, the Wind Castle Of Wendia has been the main source of the winds that blews through the worlds. Their priestess constantly prays to their oracle, Oracle Of Wind, to keep the winds in place. The Oralce only shows for certian people, and isn't visible for ordinary people.
The wind is an important source for the worlds balance. Without it, the world will slowly turn into a desert. With the power of the Oralce, and the written words in the Wendian Arcs, the wind will slowly blew through the world, and keeps its balance.

Tamina is one of the new generation of priestess. She's just turned 20, and is now able to visit the Wendian Arcs with the Oracles permission. She lost her mother during an illness, and has been gursade by the other priestess during this time. Her best friend Zabath, one of the few male priests, has protected and supported her during all this time, and stands close to her, which she is thankfull for.
Taminas life is commited to constant praying, but she can't stand to go an lifestyle like that. But she has no choice. Her mother used to be Head Priest of Wendian, and as her daughter, Tamina needs to show a good example to the other priestess.

One day, the Oracle suddenly appears on the roof of Wendian Castle. This is the first time in years that she shows herself. It's a bad omen. She demands to meet a certian girl..without telling a reason to the others. The girl she wants to see is Tamina.

When Tamina finally meets the Oracle, she's told that something is about to happen. Something that will disturb the balance of the world. She tells Tamina that she will appear again in 4 days, and give further information for her.
With alot of questions, Tamina returns to her room.

4 days later, Tamina wokes up by by an complete silence. This is not normal, since the winds always blows outside the castle. Tamina heads up to the roof, and as the Oracle said 4 days earlier, she had return to the roof.
The tells Tamina that during the night, the wind stopped, and the sounds of the wind has silenced. The Wendian Arcs has been stolen! During the night, a thief broke into the libary, and stole the Wendians Arcs. The Arcs is one of the reasons that the wind exists, and it needs to return to the castle at once. The Oracle says to Tamina that she needs to head out to the world, to find the Arcs, before the world turns into a desert of death.

Now, Tamina needs to find this thief, and take the Arcs back to Wendian. As assistant on her journey, the Oracle gives Tamina a Wind spirit, called Ongria. Ongria has an ability to sence the aura from the Arcs, and will be helpfull on this journey. Together with Ongria and Zabath, Tamina heads out to find the Arcs, and stop the creation of the desert.

Characters

Tamina
Age: 20
Tamina is the main character. She's the new generation of Wind Priests. She lost both her parents(Mother in illness, father suicide) and has been guarded by the rest of the priests in Wendia. She is specialiced in Wind Magic, and also knows how to heal people. The Oracle gave her the mission to return the arcs to Wendia, before the world turns into a desert. Skeptical to take such an important quest, Tamina decides to return the Arcs to Wendia. to prevent this disaster to occure. Together with Zabath, she heads out in the world to find the arcs, and return the arcs to were they belong.
Zabath
Age: 21
Zabath is Taminas best friend. He's a very wise young lad, and is one of the few male Wind Priests. He was once raised to use a sword, but moved to smaller weapon types like daggers and short swords, because he like smaller weapons more. He ran away from his parents when he was a kid, and was found by one of the Head Priests of Wendia, Suriz. Sincde then, he has been raised to be a priest.
Marica
Age: 18
Marica lives in a village called Mist south of Wendia. She owns an alchemist shop along with her father and brother. While searching the woods after new ingrediences for a new potion, she ends up being attacked by a gang of bandits. Extremly out-numbered, she's willing to give up against the bandits. Luckily, Tamina and Zabath spots this attack, and succesfully saves Marica from the bandits. In order to show her gratitude, Marica joins Tamina to follow every step Tamina takes, even if Tamina dosen't really want to drag around with a teenager on such a important mission as this.
Marche
Age: 25
He's the thief who stole the Wendian Archs. He sold it shortly after he stole it, and while heading to get his money, he was ambushed, and later woke up in a forest. Suspecting that his client hired someone to get rid of Marche, he's determed to give revenge to the one he sold it to, but accidently cross paths with Tamina, and is now forced to give the Arcs back to Tamina, no matter if he want or not.

Catty
Age: 20
An old friend of Marche, but are now enemies. Catty used to search for treasures and plunder with Marche. It is said that she was in love with Marche, but after a betrayal of Marche, they enemies. She is a thief just like Marche, but she's using knives as weapons, and her speed in battle is breathtaking.

Patty
Age: 22
Patty is a warrior, who lives in the town of Mist. One day, while takning a walk she saved Marica from a wild beast, and after that, she's been protecting her from danger. She uses the spear, and it is said that she once beat 20 bandits, without any help.

Sounds a bit cliche to me, but it can probably be pulled off. Other than that it looks good.

Massive Update:

I've updated the whole first post. Updated character bios for 3 characters, and also a new name for the project: Wendia: Silentium Of Ventus.

I've also made a new sprite for Tamina:

The reason I did this is because it must show that sh'es a Wind Priest. It may look a bit strange right now, but Im working on it.

Also, I've edited the Wendia Tileset a bit:

I've added gold to the curtains, and also re-coloured the sofas. The benches is also re-coloured.

More updates will come soon.

I think it looks good. I agree that the story does sound a bit cliche, but I don't think that's a real problem as the world itself seems interesting enough to propel the game forward. Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing where you take this Shadow. Good luck.

I kinda like the title "Silence of the Wind" better than the new name, but the game sounds awesome. I like how you used the VX battlers in there, and the mapping is almost orgasmic!

Thank you for the comment =)

Im currently working on the dialog so far into the game. Most of the dialog has some grammar errors, and that's the thing that takes the longest to get done for me.

A small Update:

Im going to tell more about the purpose for Ongria, the wind spirit, that will follow you during the game.

You can't save directly from the menu in this game. There will be zero save crystals or something like that. In this game, you need to talk to Ongria to save.

Also, later in the game, you will also be able to change part members with her help. The maximum amount of players in the party is 2. 2 In main party, and 2 in reserve.

Is there any bugs with this so far?
Problems with this system right now:
-Basicly, Ongria is starting on the spot where i placed the event. If you are in the middle of them map, she will basicly start in the beginning of the map. Im currently working on that.
-There's a chance that she will doom your party, especilly in puzzles. Right nhow, if you go into a corner, she will basicly cut your path, and you are trapped -_-

So, How are you going to solve these problems?
- I haven't solved the first problem yet, since Im still working on it. Suggestions are welcome.
- Basicly, Im planning to make a "Stay" command for her. If you feel that she will be in the way, you can actully tell her to stay. If you want her to move again, talk to her, and pick move.

These are the updates right now. More updates later.

Yeah, I know MARICA means: "Quire" in spanish. Someone has already told me that on another site, but Im not planning to change the name.

Christmas is now over, and Im going to work on this again.
Im currently thinking on changing battle system. Im currently using the RTAB(Edited by Falcon), but Im planning to change it to TBS instead. Do you people think I should change it over to TBS, or should I stick with RTAB?

I think you should go with whatever is best for you, and whichever seems to fit the style of the story/gameplay more.

Making a slow progress here ._., since most of the problems is the scripting, but I have someone who's helping me with that.

Lots of promise. Uh, not that it really matters but, you know how it says something along the lines of 'without the wind, the world will become a desert', a desert in what sense? Sand desert, or just a place without much rainfall...?

A small update: I've done some progress Cheesy

Im currently working on the version without the Ongrian system, so I have something to show up. I've also changed to a new menu system. Here's a screenshot of it:

The menu is made by Kendore, so credits goes to him.

Also, the game has a new Logo:

And it's not over yet! 2 new playable character has entered the game Smiley

Catty
Age: 20
An old friend of Marche, but are now enemies. Catty used to search for treasures and plunder with Marche. It is said that she was in love with Marche, but after a betrayal of Marche, they enemies. Im going to work more on their background later on.

Interesting updates. The only thing I don't really like is the uneveness of the CMS, but all in all, it's very nice.

I think Alge is commenting on the fact that one side (the more in depth side) is longer than the other (where the play time and below are).

I like the skin though, nice colours and transparency rocks. : DD

Yeah, the character select window is a few pixels wider than the play time window, and then there's all that empty space under the status window - I think it would look better if that part were centred. There's also the fact that the command window has more options that aren't shown - with all that empty space, the command window could just be drawn larger to accomodate for extra commands.

All in all though, the menu design is solid and what is actually drawn in the windows look very good - the gradients look fantastic. It's just the positioning and size of the windows that sits a little uneasy with me.
