    THE CONCEPT

    Does anyone remember the old Dragon Warrior III, the first Final Fantasy and Legend games? Games where you started by selecting your character classes. Your character had no personality, you just made them and set out to do good in the game.

    I have always loved this idea. Especially in Final Fantasy Legends when you eat enemy meat your monster characters would transform into different monsters.

    So I was thinking of using that basis to create a world with plots of land. Everyone that wants to can create a little land area, little towns, caves, and whatever else using the VX default graphics.

    The lands get copied and pasted into the world. The towns, maps, areas, monsters, weapons and items get pasted in as well. There doesn't have to be any specific player characters. There doesn't have to be a beginning a middle and an end. Just your own little place.

    You wouldn't have to come up with your own scripts. They would always be active in the game itself. So if you wanted to participate, you would only make maps and quests.

    Then to get from land to land you can either teleport, use a boat, ship or use an airship. If the difficulty is too much for the player, the player can just go back to where they were before until they are strong enough to take on that particular plot of land.

    Even if 5 people contribute a small town or a cave, it would have the makings of a great free form / open ended community game.

    METHODS OF PERSUASION

    There is now a persuasion option to replace dueling. With persuasion, you can either bribe, admire, taunt or intimidate NPCs to get them to do what you want. Bribes are the easiest, but taunting improves their disposition toward you. Taunting them manipulates their personality so you can get what you want and finally intimidation is how you can either duel or anger them.

    NPC PERSONALITIES

    NPCs now have personality stats based on things like how loving, happy, athletic, powerful, rich, fearful, aggressive and other things like that. 16 stats now make up their personality and you can play with that. You can manipulate them through taunting, admiring, bribing and threatening them.

    The tactics cannot go on forever though, because if their disposition drops to a certain point they stop talking to you and disappear. Guards will stop talking to you and throw you in prison or challenge you to a duel. Sort of like if you taunt an officer long enough you are going to jail.

    HOW BOUT DAT WEATHER WE'RE HAVING?

    Yes like every other game there is a weather. However, this system is complex. Each region gets its own weather patters and chances for rain, storms and snow. This allows for random weather based on the weather pattern. If there is a 10% chance of rain happening in the region. It is just that. The weather will act accordingly.

    TIME KEEPS TICKING

    The game keeps track of how long you have played as well as the game time. The game days will be counted.

    DAY TURNS INTO NIGHT

    There are six periods of a full 24 hour day with sunlight that acts accordingly. Because of the day shifting to night, that allows for pubs to open at night. It allows for people to be about their day and asleep at night. Church in the morning that ends at noon and creetures could out in the late night...

    O'CLOCK

    When you want to know how long you have played, just look at a wall clock. Unless of course you have a pocket watch to check. It will tell you how many days, hours, minutes and seconds you've been playing. There will also be an indication of how many game days you have played.

    TRAVELERS ASK WHERE TO SLEEP

    When you are on the go and need to replenish HP and MP, stop by the nearest Inn. You don't just pay your gold and get replenished. You get a room for the entire night. Better hope there is a room at the Inn for you.

    WHAT HAPPENS IN THE BEDROOM... WHERE TO SAVE?

    Due to the changing landscape of the game from being a community project. Saving will be limited to beds and save points. These beds and save points cannot be altered or moved, because if they do it will corrupt someone's save point.

    You cannot sleep in each and every bed, so check the Inn for a night's stay.

    WHAT'S BEHIND DOOR #1?

    There are slip through doors that contain NPCs and let the player through.

    DAMN ITS LOCKED!

    Because it would be pointless to have doors and not lock them, there are locks on some doors. Locks that either need keys or need to be picked. There will be more on this later.

    WE'RE HAVING A PARTY AND YOU'RE INVITED

    When you start the game, you start alone. You must recruit your party at the local Pub or Guild. Speak with a Guild Guide to have members add your party or to leave the members behind.

    WHEN THE PARTY'S OVER

    Your party members die in RPGs it is an unavoidable fact. You either need an item or skill to revive them. In this case you have another option. Drop by a priest or someone that can revive your dead party members... for a price.

    GREETINGS, TALK, RUMORS, AND INFO

    Each NPC has a lot to say. They start with a greeting that is based on their reaction to you, their name, their class, the weather, their faction or their race. Talk is the standard for RPGs, but beyond that there is rumors. Random things that people have heard. Finally there is info if you want to learn more about the person, their class, race or faction.

    I CHALLENGE YOU TO A DUEL... TO THE DEATH...

    Challenge a NPC to a duel to the death. Test your might against anyone that will accept your challenge. However, depending on who challenged who there could be a bounty on your head for murder. If you challenge the guards, that is a crime as well, even if you run from the scrap. If you are a member of the faction of the NPC that you challenge, the faction may kick you out.

    WAKING THE DEAD

    So you've killed an NPC. Big deal. What happens if you needed that NPC for a quest? You revive the bones of the NPC! Even if you find bones...

    IT IS GOOD TO BE SO WANTED

    When you have killed an NPC or challenged the wrong NPC to a duel, you will have a bounty on your head. The guards will chase after you! When they catch you one of 3 things can happen.
     1. Pay the bounty with gold.
     2. Go to prison
     3. Die for your crimes!

    DO THE CRIME DO THE TIME

    As stated before, if you are caught by the guards you can go to prison. Each castle has a prison / dungeon. Each kingdom has guards and soldiers, you will go to that kingdom's prison or dungeon. That does not mean you serve hard labor, that just means you easily go to sleep and wake up however many game days later. Quickly serving your time.

    I'M BANKING ON IT

    There is a banking system that will give you a percentage for each day that your gold is in the bank. You can only deposit gold in sums of at least 1000.

    THIS TIME... ITS PERSONAL

    There are personalities in the game that will affect your stats when you level up! Jocks will have more HP than intellectuals. Devouts will have more spirit than those with seductive personalities.

     - Jock (high HP)
     - Intellectual (high MP)
     - Psychotic (high Attack)
     - Pessimist (high Defense)
     - Devout (high Spirit)
     - Seductive (high Agility)

    HOW DO I LOOK?

    Like old school games you can customize the look, name and class of each character. In fact you can even chose to make your character a creature.

    NOW THAT IS SOME HEAVY STUFF!

    Treasure chests, stones, everything that is pushable has a weight to it. So it is not just push rocks, it is push chests, boxes and other fun things. However, you need to be strong enough to push them. Maybe an item would help or a character class would help you push them?

    PETER PIPER PICKED A PECK OF PUZZLING PUZZLES

    There are more than just stereotypical push block puzzles. There are level and switch levels. Combinations, riddles and even puzzles that can only be unlocked based on the time of day!

    MULTIPLICITY DIVERSITY

    Because there are so many people contributing, there is a wide variety of puzzles, quests, tactics and even map ingenuity. Such as one person came up with the floating magical bridge, another came up with a complex puzzle, while still one came up with a quest to give tribute only to have given a foe that very weapon.

    NOW THATS HOOOT!

    There are damaging things to the player's party on the map such as fire in burning houses, energy fields from evil forces and toxic marshes. All of them have their own damaging effects, either in a specific amount of HP lost or a percentage of HP lost.


    RULES OF SUBMISSION

    Spoiler for Hiden:

     - Must be in RPG Maker VX
     - You must submit your unencrypted files. If you do not, I cannot copy and paste them into the world.
     - No custom graphics. You can only use the default graphics that come in the RTP. This is a consistantly downloaded game, so it is best to be gentle on the people that have 56 Kbps modems.
     - Do not use switch D for NPCs.

    Atop of the mountain east of Akarothi. There has been said a strange man went there.


    The fairy forest is missing the majority of its fairies.

    WORLD of BOSLA

    KINGDOM OF ALEFGARD

    TANTEGEL CASTLE

    King Lorik
    Found in his throne room, King Lorik rules over Alefgard and encourages his people to expand their horizons and enlighten themselves. To display this encouragement, he will give any of his citizens gold to help them along their way.

    Queen Kalysta
    Amused with the adventures of her citizens, Queen Kalysta is usually found amongst her people. She has a heart and a weakness for those less fortunate than herself, so she will always make a donation.

    Syrah
    A seer of everything in the game world. She knows all of the stats and statistics, although sometimes her visions are a bit clouded.

    Sir Kiss
    The bold knight of Alefgard, he is the general to King Lorik's army. He was born in the town of Batroga to the east. However, seeking a better life for himself he left and ended up as the standout of Alefgard's legion of soldiers.

    Cutter
    Usually found in the dungeon of Tantegel Castle, Cutter will mentor informists to become thieves.

    Duwault
    The wise old black mage of King Lorik. He will mentor apprentices to become black mages.

    Bennet
    The youthful cleric of King Lorik. He will mentor apprentices to become white mages.

    DeAnna
    A seductive herbalist that can be found in Tantegel. She mentors apprentices into herbalists.

    Toller
    A traveling merchant that will mentor informists into becoming merchants as well.


    TOWN OF NEW ALIAHAN

    Rhen
    Owner of the pub, she loves to pair parties together. Meet friends, and she has the skills needed to find just the right person for your party.

    Kalysto
    A healer that travels the world to revive the dead. He can give you the secret vial that will restore life.

    Tybor
    A miner that lost his mates when the Orcs attacked. He only wants his mates back and he will pay a great reward for them to be revived.

    Loren
    A local hunter that has a gift for mentoring informists into being hunters.

    Zango
    The town's resident grappler, he will mentor brawlers into skilled grapplers.

    AKAROTHI VILLAGE

    Floyd
    The farmer of the village is having quite a difficult time growing his crops with all of the rats.

    Chelsea
    A shop keeper that gets silly crushes on her patrons.

    Curtis
    A traveling fighter for hire that will mentor brawlers to become fighters.


    KINGDOM OF SHENAGARD

    SHENAGARD CASTLE

    King Samurik
    The grand son of Magesto, son of Legalas. Samurik has ruled a beautiful kingdom and survived attacks from his brother Lord Armonik. He hides a shield forged by his father. He also hides another secret that no one will find out until later.

    Queen Tamalah
    The simple minded beauty that rules at the side of her husband.

    Princess Evalyn
    The young princess that sees her uncle Armonik for who he truly is.

    Balthasar
    The council to the good King Samurik.

    TOWN OF LAMENISTA

    Legalas
    The once great king has passed on and a statue is in the town court where he rests beneath of it. Since his death, his kingdom has been divided into three parts, with each of his sons ruling over a fragment. Legend has said that only Legalas can bring unity back to his great kingdom, but that is difficult to do when he has been dead for a generation.

    Timut
    Once a giant beast, Timut was tamed by the might of Legalas! The beast was so overcome with grief at the death of Legalas that it mustered all of the energy that it could and leapt into the air never to be seen again. There is now a statue of the pet inside of Lamenista's walls.


    KINGDOM OF ARMATROPA

    Lord Armonik
    Ruler of a subterrenian castle, and a grand son to Magesto.

    ???
    The large pet of Lord Armonik that defends his treasure with ruthless fury.

    AKORON VILLAGE

    Donicio
    A messanger sent from Kendall Grove to speak with Lord Armonik.

    KENDALL GROVE VILLAGE

    Cid
    The owner and operator of the canoe factory in the village.

    Cynthia
    The receptionist working for her brother at the canoe factory.

    Lacinda
    The daughter of Cynthia who was taken by the beast many days ago.



    KINGDOM OF VESTOPA

    VESTOPA CASTLE

    Lord Sordik (Lord Black)
    The deadly Lord Sordik who has built his kindom of the dead by making a creepy alliance. He seeks to enter the tower of Batroga to find out the deadly secret that his grandfather has warned him about. He wants to use this deadly secret for his own sinister goals of conquering a universe and not just his own world.

    The Pets
    Lord Sordik has pets that roam through his dungeon and have badly damaged it over the years.

    TOWN OF BATROGA

    Magesto
    The oldest man in the region, who had come down out of a tower in the sky to spare his people hardship. They have now endured three generations and many of them are ready to return. However, Magesto knows the deadly secret that dwells within the tower. The secret that purges the tower of all life. He saves his people for generations by not allowing them in. However, his grandson Lord Sordik seeks to get into the tower to find the deadly secret and use it for his own needs.

    Rue
    The mother of Sir Kiss who had leadership thrust upon her when it was proven that Magesto will do nothing to defend his people. The town looks to her for guidence as she was one of the original settlers along with Magesto.

    Beron
    The greeter at the town of Batroga.

    Kammur
    The father of a dead defender named Kimma. He is always found grieving at Kimma's grave.

    Kimma
    The son of Rue and Kimmur was a simple man that rallied the men in Batroga to stand together and defend their town from Lord Sordik. Unfortunately, the men failed and they were all killed. Now Kimma cannot rest until Lord Sordik is defeated.

    Rico
    The man that mentors black mages into becoming warlocks.

    Kelli
    She runs the magic shop in the small town.

    Brutis
    A strong woman who has taken over the armory in town at the death of the men in town.

    Gianna
    She is one of the few maids that works at the Batroga Inn.

    Milla
    As the youngest adult or the oldest child, Milla has been put in charge of watching the village's children.

    Titus
    A boy that prepaires for Lord Black. However, before this boy is a man he will fall prey to an attack.

    Craven
    The young friend of Titus.

    Georgia
    One of the children that Milla watches.

  • I just would like people to create their own maps or even stories. It doesn't have to be some big elaborate thing. You can make side characters that to take them on, you need to get rid of someone in your party.

    I'm currently making the bank system. I have the weather, time, day / night systems down.

    To keep track of who made what, you can put signs in the start of places that say "Made by...."

  • That is the beauty of this...

    Irock you have your own land, Raski has Raski's own land.

    Its not like you do this part, Raski does that part.

    There is no finish, it is an ongoing thing.

    Lets say... Version 1: 2 people contribute so there's 2 towns, 2 caves, 2 lands.

    Version 3: 3 people contribute, now there's 2 towns, 5 caves, 2 lands

    Version 8: 15 people contribute, now there's 5 towns, 5 caves, 2 towers, 5 lands, 2 castles

    Version 20: 20 people contribute, now there's 7 towns, 5 caves, 2 towers, 8 haunted graveyards, 10 lands, 4 castles, 2 sailing pirate ships.

    The game will just go. You load up the new version and transfer your saves. The saves should be able to work from version to version :-)

  • It does not have to be much. It can be anything that you want to contribute. If you want to contribute a cave. I will find a plot of land to put it in. :-)

    Just make sure to stick a sign or something in there that lets the player read that you had made it.

  • Whichever. It should at least be in the beginning. You can hide the sign cleverly though, or have a greeter tell it. Something that is at least noticable.

  • I will be uploading the basis for this soon. So far I have:

     - pick your look
     - enter your name (doesn't everyone)
     - bank system
     - inn system (my inn where you rent rooms)
     - door system
     - meet / leave party members via a guild
     - clock system
     - fires that burn
     - keeping track of time
     - day / night system
     - beds save games

    I want to make a little plot of land with the old Dragon Warrior castle on it and then I will upload it.

  • You just send me the project file and I load it up, then copy and paste it over. It can't be the .exe, because I can't open up the .exe. I've made a little town with a little castle to start with. Then from there I will make a NPC that can teleport the player to other lands.

  • Uploaded the alpha version. There's not much to do. 1 tiny land area, 1 town / castle, guild house to get members, inn, bank (not that it matters). Two people give you gold, there are a few enemies.

    You can kill NPCs in duels... then bring them back to life with vials! Kill a guard and the other guards will be after you though. There are slip through doors, there are locked doors. Time of day has an impact. There is weather.

    The town / maps are pretty basic. This is just to show everyone the system that the game will use.

    New cave. Bigger town, more NPCs, push block puzzle, pushable objects, need strength to push objects. What could be considered a quest. It involves a lot of what I just said and one element from the original demo.

    I have a good question for those of you to prove you've done the quest. What is the price of the object being sold in the cave and what does it take for the merchant to appear?

    Count me in Maia! This sounds pretty cool. So one more thing. Do we make our own quests in our land? I got a nifty idea.

    You make your own quests in your own land. Although quests that cross over lands would be interesting. Like quests that say go to this town, hop in a boat, sail to another land and visit a cave. I will wait until the world gets filled out more before those.

    It does not have to be an elaborate quest with dialog, storyline or anything fancy. Especially considering that the 4 characters you will have are ones you make yourself ala Dragon Warrior and the first Final Fantasies.

    That was a pretty interesting alpha demo. =o

    It gets the concept across.

    What made it interesting? Just that it got the concept across?

    My World (So far): Larkan:The underground empire.

    It takes place completely in a spooky underground area where years earlier, the Larkan Empire had a secret base. The empire no longer exists after a war, and now, civilians who cannot afford to stay in New Aliahan have made there homes down there.

    The Main Quest: There have been rumors for years about a secret treasure the Larkan empire had been hiding. Is this treasure a myth... or does it truly exist?

    **Can you lower the encounter rate? I'm playing right now and the cave is making me battle every 3 steps.

    **Oh man, this is too annoying. Sorry but I'm not going to try and find that merchant the farmer mentioned... I went into a road block and now I gotta walk back and theres to much battles. Please lower :)

    Well there will be Fairy Water / Enemy repellant. If you think that's bad play Dragon Warrior 4. Enemies every 2 steps!

    I hope that people contribute as well, because then it will become more of a world with different styles. Like Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and South America each have different styles. Well if one person makes a game it will have a similar style even if the cultures are different.

    The encounter rate is 10 steps in the overworld and the cave. I do have specific cave monsters for the cave, but they're tougher and there are no weapons so far in the game. :-) People would be dead left and right. I'll change it to 20 or something. You can always run.

    As for your story, it is great! :-) It will make a great first step / first real quest. Right now there are things to do... but I wouldn't call them quests.

    Enemies are not as abundant. There is now enemy repellant for a price. There are weapons for sale now.

    There is now a prison system. Do the crime, do the time. Not really. More like you just need to start from wherever the prison is. Revival system ala Dragon Warrior 3. I moved the island, BUT this should not conflict with any save files, because the only way that you can save in the game is if you sleep in a bed at an inn :-)

    Oh and I am still wondering how much it costs to buy something from the merchant in the cave and what it takes to find the merchant.

    Phew. Alright. I remade some of the monsters to suit them in the area. You need to be at least level 6-7 to work through my "world."

  • I really like the idea behind this project.  So much so that I began as soon as I could and have finished making an island for everyone to enjoy and critique.

    Features
    2 towns(only 1 is a full town)
    2 dungeons
    2 quests(1 each for the dungeons)

    nice round numbers  :)

    I tried to keep it as simple as possible, while including stuff that was in Maia's demo(things like the church, but done in my own way, and only saving in the inn when you rest) for the sake of consistency.

    (requires you to have the VX RTP files installed on your computer)

    Garge wrote me a PM and has successfully found what the merchant sells in the cave and what it takes for the merchant to appear.

    Speaking of Garge, added the wonderful island. It is still technically an island. I have modified it a bit from its original state. A puzzle has been added to the tower. The boat has been disabled for now... its being "repaired."

    To get to the island you walk from the start. There is about an extra 40-50 minutes of gameplay. I play tested through it. Good luck beating the Ogre.

    There are now 5 tokens in the game. Sort of fun things to find and collect.
     - the cave
     - the treasury
     - the tower
     - the rats
     - from the dead

    There is now armor, more itmes and more weapons. A bunch of stuff. Can't remember what. Find it and tell me :-)

    FIXES
     - for those that cannot bring up the menu, when you wake up out of your save state. Go back to sleep. Then when you wake up that second time. The menu will work.
     - You can speak to the king to get 100 GP to start you off.

    I noticed a major error. An error that skipped where you enter the player name. I also made a cave and a few other nifty things. There is another quest and plenty of stuff to do in the new cave... just gotta find the key to the cave.

  • There's no story for the game as a whole, but the parts that users send in to become part of it may have their own stories to go with them.  Maia may also decide to add a story that ties in several of the areas, if she so chooses.  But as for an "end", I doubt you'll see one.

    RULES OF SUBMISSION

     - Must be in RPG Maker VX
     - You must submit your unencrypted files. If you do not, I cannot copy and paste them into the world.
     - No custom graphics. You can only use the default graphics that come in the RTP. This is a consistantly downloaded game, so it is best to be gentle on the people that have 56 Kbps modems.
     - Do not use switch D for NPCs.


    I had a 1KB file removed, so I don't think an entire tileset is gonna make it.

     - Nope this will not be an online game. If you want to make an online game, many people have tried. See Lomanisio for that.

     - No RPG 2K3 hidden worlds. The game is already enough like RPG2K3. I could not copy and paste into the game if that was the case.

     - Technically no, there is no story like you must slay the dragon and save the princess. This is a game with back to back to back stories like Final Fantasy, Dragon Warrior 3, Final Fantasy Legend 2.

  • In a fun leap I have created personalities. To my knowledge Dragon Warrior III for the GBC is the only game to have them. When you level up, your characters level up based on their personality.

    I have even made it so those who have current games will level up after the next battle. Like if you are level 8, after a battle you will see it level up 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 times to get you back to where you are and to set your stats accordingly :-)

    So far there are 6 personalities
     - Jock (high HP)
     - Intellectual (high MP)
     - Psychotic (high attack)
     - Pessimist (high defense)
     - Devout (high spirit)
     - Seductive (high agility)

    Any more personalities to add?

  • People have PMed me some stuff to add. The world is getting big and interesting. There is now a bigger storyline with lots of puzzles. A storyline that involves 3 kingdoms.

    I have added classes, more weapons, armor and skills. There is now a class tree as well.

  • I'm playing again from start to finnish. So far I'm 2 hours into the game. I beat the Ogre! I'm also adding some stuff to keep the game flowing from one area to another.

    I've now completed everything that was in the game for the Version 5 release. Now I will go through the stuff in Version 6 and release it.

    I have a party with the following classes:
     - Grappler (with a seductive personality)
     - Fighter (with a pessimist personality)
     - White Mage (with an intellectual personality)
     - Merchant (with a pessimist personality)

    QUESTS SO FAR
    Do not read. This is a serious spoiler.... You might know too much about the game if you read!

    Spoiler for Hiden:

    Version 5 stuff
     - talk with King Lorik for 100 GP
     - talk to those in the shrine of destiny to find where to get taught classes
     - get a vivification vial and revive the merchant to obtain the power bracelet
     - kill rats
     - save fairies / obtain a key
     - find flint in a locked cave

    Version 6 stuff
     - level up so your party's entire level totals 33 (lvl 8 + lvl 8 + lvl 8 + lvl 9) / give something
     - attend a late night meeting
     - speak with King Samurik
     - spend a night in a bunker and become a criminal
     - raid Armatropa at night / obtain the armor / obtain a key
     - slip through the time passage
     - light the fire / use a bone against the beast
     - overthrow Lord Black

  • I'm now 3 hours and 30 minutes into the beta playing. I'm now further than I've ever been. Now is a really fun quest. The only thing keeping me from doing it is thinking of quirky stuff to fill up the stores in the town before the quest.

  • This is all using the default graphics of RPG Maker VX. You make and customize the character at the start of the game like Dragon Warrior III or Final Fantasy.

    Double ReEdit: someone should make a guide, like which character in the pub is what class, and what they can become, where to train at what lvl ect.

  • The .exe works yep :-) The .zip would only have a .exe in it anyway.

    About your bank, it does not need any code, I already have it defaultly set up along with a slight interest rate.

    There are potions in the game that make scarecrows talk, unless of course your scarecrow naturally talks.



    I just checked the armory and yes that is an error. I have slide doors where you can pick the locks to enter, but you don't need to pick them to exit. I had that door reversed. Those slide doors work well for when you leave the prison you can't get back into the prison.



    As for classes, there is an in game guide that tells you where to go. The Shrine of Destiny. Here are spoilers as to where exactly they are.

    Spoiler for Hiden:
    Class = Undetermined goto Shrine of Destiny to pick a class

    Class = Apprentice goto Tantegal in the south western tower to become Black Mage
    Class = Apprentice goto Tantegal in the south western tower to become White Mage

  • The Shrine of Destiny is directly north of the first town / castle. There is a world map. It might be a bit out of date, but it is there.

    Right now the creature characters don't have any equipables or skills. That has been corrected for V.7.

    The human characters should all have skills based on their classes.

  • Where does this lag for you? I've played it on two computers and it doesn't lag. There are not any huge areas quickly into the game. Later on though it does get to huge areas. I am doubling / trippling up on the maps.

    You can do whatever you want. Kill NPCs... as long as they accept your duels. Prepare to face the consiquences like prison time. Revive the bones of NPCs.

    Go on kill the king. Well you need to either wait for the right moment or offend the king enough that he takes you on. You can kill priests and pilgrims, but they must hate you enough to accept the duel.

    You can use keys to get in any doors... just gotta find the keys.

    There is a lot to do in the game. btw I loved your screenshot of that town!

  • Yeah a city can be 4 towns depending how big the city is.

    What are the annoying bugs? There are things that the game system defaultly fixes like the character graphics and names. The church system is also automatic as well.

  • for a quest, i have it so every time u kill a dragon, a certain variable goes up. i kill 17 dragons (thats how many are needed to be killed) and i go to the guy who gives the quest and it says i havent kill any. i cant find the damn bug any where.

    Problem 2: i go to download the new version, it says 12.1mb till the very end then jumps down to 7.6mb. the extraction fails ect. i dont know what is goin on with that either... and it deleted my save...

  • Going back to 7.6 probably means the download is broken. I just downloaded all 12.1 MB. So it works for me.

    I don't think that it could delete your save when it has not even set up. Anyone else have this mistake?

  • V.8 Fixes:

     - Side doors no longer allow the player to walk through anything. The walk through anything error will auto correct itself in the next version.
     - Akarothi dock error statement is fixed.

    Probably not a job list. Just classes, like informist branches into blacksmith or miner. Apprentice branches into enchanter. Lots of people have always compared my games to Elder Scrolls.

    How about giving me some spells / skills for
     - Blacksmiths (improve weapons and armor with spells)
     - Enchanters
     - Miners (use earth spells?)

    I will add them right away.

    I have now added blacksmiths and miners in the game for V.8 along with some unique weapons / armor and gear for them. As for improving weapons and armor, I just meant attack up and defense up spells and skills.

    The face photos come with the RTP.

    V.8 will be out soon. I am done play testing and adding into it. The game is 8 hours for me all the way through. Because so many people have PMed me on the forums about certain things, I have started making a legitimate guide to the game. Plus I want to inform people of just how much extra stuff there is in this game.

    I would like some people to complete and detail their submissions before I add them into V.8. I am still eager to add things to the game :-) It helps keep things interesting for everyone.

    Speaking of interesting; there is now a legitimate plotline to follow. I took everyone's submitted work, and tied it together into a plot that uses everything.

    PLOT

    Spoiler for Hiden:

    The sky will turn red and the clouds will block out the sun. That is what will happen when the gate to Batroga Tower is open and the people scurry through before the time is right.

    Magesto had lead his people out of the tower fearing the death of the heavens when the rogue angels invaded. He now stands guard at the gate to prevent his people from entering the tower before the time is right.

    Since he has walked on this terra, Magesto has fathered one son and became the grand father to three kings. At the death of his son Legalas, each of the three kings proclaimed themselves lord of the land. Since then the land has been divided into thirds.

    Armatropa is the land to the east, full of rough terrain between mountains and a balmy forest. Vestopa is the cursed and wretched land to the south west, and Shenagard is the smallest of the three lands, but has the greatest inhabitable area.

    Between the three lands is the town of Batroga, located at the base of the tower to the heavens; a tower that extends past the clouds and into the sky. That is the legend that has been passed down for nearly 80 years. The tower is located in a desert that is considered neutral territory by all three kings.

    However, the evil Lord Sordik now wants into the tower. Sordik’s power comes from an unholy bargain made with the undead to follow his mighty voice. He has used this ghastly army to attack the towering walls of Batroga to enter the gate for himself.

    A year of attacks has gone by with the men of Batroga rallied together and stood tall to defend their town from Lord Sordik. Magesto merely stood idly by and watched the men of his village get slaughtered, leaving only the women, children and elderly.

    King Samurik of Shenagard has been caught in turmoil of his own. His brother Armonik craves to expand his territory. The battle of their two lands is at an end though, with King Samurik standing tall and ready to occupy the land of his defeated brother.

    Now the only hope to save the people of Batroga is a hero born half a world away. A stranger to the kingdom of turmoil, this hero must travel through all three kingdoms collecting the treasures of Legalas in order to awaken the man that can bring unity to his once great empire.

    Subterranean castles, undead armies, and aggressive nations await the hero, all to save the people caught between hostile invaders and Magesto who refuses to let anyone through the gate until the time is right.

  • That is fine. That is why adding to this project is better than starting your own.

    Actually I've noticed... there are a few games that look to be dead on this forum. Maybe I should ask if I could absorb them into this game :-) Like a giant blob absorbing other games into its core. At least that way the dead RPGM VX games would live on.

    There are plenty of updates, that I have probably covered in previous posts. Here are the ones that I've been saving.

    NEO PRIME's TALARIS

    Someone on another forum submitted something that was good and interesting. The only downer for the casual fans of this game is that you really need to work to get to it. It is a lair for higher level players. In fact it is so high, that my current game of 8 hours cannot accomplish it :-)

    There are no treasures yet.



    THE BOARD GAME

    ... a board game! In a game! Very similar to the Dragon Warrior 3 (CGB). Maia 2K3 had the board game system, but now it is here. Just play with tokens :-)

    BRIDGE GAME

    Get the magic bridge, and use tokens to play the bridge game. You travel across the areas and chose your paths to collect treasures! This was technically in V.7, but now it is acessable!

    UPDATES for V.9 (not yet released)

    Sure, V.8 has not been released yet, but V.8 ends when you enter the tower. V.9 will pick up in an entirely different second world.

  • That lair looks like a really nice map. I'm not sure if you want to release the event layer though, as it looks like there are a few secret event things that might give away.

    Also, it'd be pretty cool if you were able to absorb some of the other games.

  • I have written a few RPGM VX gamers about absorbing their games. Such as games that have not had anyone post on them for a month. The trick is those people are done and no longer using the forums.

    As for the secrets, those are shadows, there's nothing really secret about that map.

  • UPLOADED VERSION 8
     - The file has jumped up from 12 MB to 16 MB? There are no new graphics, so this is 4 more MB of programming content. I am also thinking about renaming this project to "the World is Not Enough," because now there are 2 worlds to explore.

  • Wow, that's a huge increase in size for just programming and maps.

    Were you able to absorb any games?

    And yeah, "The World is Not Enough" is a pretty good title, though it has been a Bond movie so maybe it might not be a great idea. I like the name "World Crafters" myself. It gives a nice feel to the game.

  • The trick about absorbing other games is the games that have not had posts on topics in a months... the creators do not get back to me.

    It is a Bond movie, hence where I stole it from, but the plot develops from a hero journeying, to a hero saving a people, to a hero well... you will see. The World is Not Enough.

I wanted to know like, is there a limit to how big one could make it? and also like, what could or couldn't be used. Like say if I were to make a shop, how would I know what items to sell and that stuff. Also I was wondering for like, making it so they have to go to the inn and save to the bed, would that be something I had to add in, or would you be the one to do it after I gave the map(s) to you. And like with the monsters, how would I know which monsters should be used and all that.     There is no limit to how big the maps can be or how many there can be. Make whatever items you want for the shop. I will either balance it or stick the map somewhere that players could bennefit from it.

    Same thing with the monsters. I would stick the map in an area where the players could take the monsters or people could just avoid the area entirely. Like Dragon Warrior if you went south west too quick you were dead.

    Just make the inn with the standard inn maker. The game system automatically makes it where you can then enter a room at the inn and sleep to save.

    You make a new project, then make your project. Add events, but some major events the game adds itself like the branching talk system.

  • I don't know what level I will make the enemies, I really wouldn't know like you know.. how much health an enemy should have at this level and what stats and that, lol. I'm pretty close to being done building it now, I have only one last town left to finish fixing up. So far, my land will have a castle, 2 "towns", a normal looking town and a vallage covered in snow. Then I have 3 other areas. A small field map, a cave which is one floored that has ice and an ice sliding puzzle in it, you know the kind where when you move forward you keep moving till you hit something and it makes you stop? Yeah, took me an hour before thinking up the Events for that thing, it sucked. Then I have a 5 floored tower. Now I just need to add a story line, and finish making the building in the town.

  • Battle frequency is anything you want, but if its less than 15, it will piss people off. Dragon Warrior was always 5 or less.

    Ok, I will try that, and I think it best if I leave the items out and let you make the shops, I only have a few, 3 in each town I think, an item seller, a weapon seller, and finally a armor seller

  • 3 shops is an awesome number, not every town needs every little thing. Remember some of the old classics would have an item shop in one town, an armor shop in another. Instead of item / weapon / armor / spell / bank / gambler / pawn shop / armory / fishing bait store / gun store / explosives store / general market / green house.

    o.O The games I remember, mostly final fantasy, there was only the Inn, Item shop, and the Weapon/armor o.O Also in FF5 there was Magic shop since you had to buy spells to learn it in that game >.>

  • There are towns already in the game that have no inns. You need to go to the church to recover HP / MP :-) So not having an inn works not having a church works too, just makes it harder.

  • Healing items work, but magic restoration items are not as abundant, same with revival items.

I was thinking more along the lines of having to go to this place and killing some boss guy, just don't know who that boss could be, or as to why you need to kill him lol. He would be in the Ice place, in a tower at the very bottom underground, which is actually only 5 floors >.>. Maybe... Hmm.... hehe, I have an idea now, but It's a secret :P

After your stay, he charges you 1,000,000 gold. Since I don't think anyone can pay that much, he will do a trade insted :P Kill a demon for him, and you owe him nothing. I feel soo evil for this xD

    That is amusing, and don't worry about spoiling anything. This game is on 3 forums. Only 2 have participated. The 3rd is working on something, but eh... people get tired.

    I am thinking with the lands that people have sent betas of that it totals about 6 right now. So I'll make everything branch off from the start. Instead of taking 1 path, it goes in 7 paths.

    As for the money... there is no chance of 1,000,000 GP yet in the game. The most I've gotten was like 11,000 and you buy the canoe for 10,000. I got 11,000 more :-)

    Counting maps is good, I condense it. I put 5 areas / floors in 1 map to save space, cause I will be seriously running out! I think right now there are 76 maps. That is deceptive, because there are 5 caves on 1 map or all of the interiors of an entire town are on 1 map. So taking a stab at it, I'll go with around 200 maps.

  • Hmm.... I have a suggestion! If it isn't made already that is lol; I noticed that in the first town, you do not get a selection of all the classes, some are in the different towns and stuff. Well, I didn't know that and stuff and made a mistake and had to restart, like 3 times xD So yeah, maybe some way so that after you choose to be a class, like a white mage or a black mage or something, there to be a way to take it away and reset back to an apprentice or whatever it was before going to the class you have now? Cause I have also notice, the "actors" you can choose to be and stuff, have preset stats and that the stats are not based on if you choose Combat or Magic or Stealth.

    So like, an Actor's stats make him best for magic cause his HP is always low and his Mana is high, but yet you don't have a way of knowing that when you pick him, so you pick him and then want him to be a combat guy, only to find he isn't that good since he has low HP, low Strength, and can't change to the higher combat classes cause of that.

    So either, I was wondering if there was a way for you to set the stats to be based on if he is Magic or Combat and stuff, like if you choose Combat than the guy you choose has High HP and will gain more HP than mana, and has High Strength and stuff, insted of having to guess which Actor has what stats >.>

    Or maybe when you click the guy it tells you his starting stats and then the amount that the stats changes apon level up, so you can see if that actor would be better for magic cause his Mana increases by 100 while the others increase by only 50 or something like that... And if someone is better at Combat cause his Atk increases by 100 while the others increase by 50. I know for a fact it won't increase that much, but you know what I mean, people's stats increase differently so someone would increase in Str/Atk better than someone else, you know to use him as a warrior and the other guy if his mana increases more to be a mage and stuff. It would make creating a team easier insted of having to guess....

    I'm sorry if I didn't make any sence, pretty hard for me to explain when now there pointing out to you what I mean, but if you can't seem to understand, I can give examples of what I mean in pictures xD

I don't know if this is spose to be or not, but the Enrage skill doesn't always work, which is odd as I believe in ALL RPG games, skills that help you, rather it be increasing your stats, making you enraged, or even healing. It would have a 100% chance of working. Also, I notice that when when I make my go enraged, he might, keyword there, he MIGHT hit once the entire 4-6 turns he is enraged, not including the fact that he never gets enraged on the first try casting it. It seems annoying and useless, if he can't cast it fast and quick, and also that he can only hit bearly once in that time and miss all the other times.

    Also, just so you know, right now my level 7 MAGE, is hitting twice the amount of damage that my level 10 Warrior is >.> Just to give an example of what I mean by stats not being good <.< And said Mage has twice the amount of HP as my Merchant >.>

    P.S.S.S.S This time it's a request cause it's really annoying >.> After the place where you need the Flit you to the desert and there is a tower there? Below that across two bridges there are mountains and what looks like a forest, and inside the forest there are 2 monsters that seem very very unfair. 1 is a plant monster that seem to cast a sleeping spell that puts everyone to sleep and it casts that damn like like 8 times in a row before finally attacking once before doing it again >.< The other is a bird that does the same, only insted of sleeping it's paralizing, casting it about 8 times in a row, and for some reason almost all of my attacks do no dmg, it doesn't say "Miss! Birdy Basterd takes no Damage!" It saids like "Birdy Basterd takes no damage!" >.<

    Ok, final thing xD In the first post, you say we can't add any extra graphics, but what about Music?

  • Ok, one last post with an update. I think I have it 99.9% done, but I am not completely sure. I have only added monsters to the Ice cave and to the Tower dungeon, so the field map and a few of the other maps don't have monsters. I just, you know took a guess at what the monster's stats should be, and hope they work out.

    MAIA = Not knowing where stuff is until later adds to the replayability. I have received PMs from people who have not played the game twice with the same party. Apprentices become black mages or white mages. Technically there is a secret way you can go back to a previous class, but it cuts everything in half, making you doubly weak.

    MAIA = The default stats are the same time after time when you start. One can use dual weapons, another can double heal.

    MAIA = True, you can't until later. Would Walmart want to buy someone's junk? You go to pawn shops that appear later in the game. I've tried to make the merchants sell, but it just was impracticle.

    MAIA = That plant is the Elyptis. It casts sleep not that often. I have lowered the sleep pollen attack. Actually... if you have someone with a weapon that slashes or chops, you can easily take them out.

    MAIA = Does the phrase out of your league hold any meaning for you? If you are dying, head back. As for the birds, shoot them with arrows, guns, burn them, freeze them, blow them away with wind attacks. NEVER try to stab, bash or smash a bird!!! After all in real life could you even get close enough to do that? Think about the weapons you're using! It is all about knowing how to deal with the foes. I did just adjust the Blue Jay.

    JIRODYNE = Ok, final thing xD In the first post, you say we can't add any extra graphics, but what about Music?

    MAIA = No extra music. The file is already big enough.

  • None of us are good at RPGM VX, as it is only a few months old.

    I'd say just use the map maker. That's really the only thing that has majorly changed.

    As for jirodyne's submission. I've reworked it and it will be included in V.9. It will be a northern off shoot of Alefgard, and should be found very easily. I'll make a canoe launch for the price of 2000 GP to make sure no one goes there to die.

  • Sometime in the future v.9 will be released. I hope to have the class / leveling up issue ressolved so fighters can be stronger than mages always. Although I am sure there are some muscular rocket scientists out there.

    The game finally branches off. When you start the game and advance a bit, you can go east as is the common route with 10 hours of gameplay... or you can now go north to Ravana and Ranora via a boat launch.

    The wonderful part about the branch is the first branch will take you into the tower and other worlds. The second branch will QUICKLY take you into a different tower and other worlds. However, this is not a warp, it will take you to other parts of other worlds. So it is like a different starting point.

    It should be a lot of fun. There are new fun details added to Ravana, based on jirodyne's submission. Slippery ice, new places with combination locks.

  • Finished adding a few people's submissions (4). It adds more than 2 hours of gameplay from level 3- level 11. 10 new areas... raising the total game time for me to 10+ hours.

  • V.9 will be coming soon. So far I've added 3 extra hours of gameplay that you can find relatively soon into the beginning of the game. It branches off where you can go north or east now.

    For me (the maker that knows where everything is), I have 11 hours of gameplay now to do everything.

  • Mm. This idea sounds very very interesting and I'd love to submit a few things. However... I need to suck it up and install Bootcamp on my MBPro so I may run VX again, or rather any of the RPG Makers. I'll let you know when I start.  :)

    [edit] Also, I noticed you wrote that we can only use the stock RTP with VX. Which clearly that means a no to this question, but I'll ask anyway. I've so many ideas for maps using the VX Ship tileset and was hoping that I'd be able to use it? - and I'd submit the set as well since players would need to download those.

  • Are you sure you can use the tileset maia? It rearranges tileset D so unless you have a script to allow for multiple tilesets, those tilesets will mess up a lot of the maps that use the D tileset.

  • Yeah, I had thought of that. It may mess up a lot of community members' maps with the new set. Not that you couldn't do it, since all the original tiles are there, but the problem is that they're scattered across D and E and it would be just a mess having to go around double checking every single map. I wouldn't do it.

    I´d like to contribute something to this project if you dont mind. ^^
    Ill make a little village, a lake and a crypt dungeon.
    There will be ~6 quests for chars around Level 20-30.

    Ive allready finished the dungeon and i started with the lake, but itll take some more time.  ;8
    Im not quite sure about the monster stats though.

  • Sounds great... looks fantastic!

    The monsters I can just stick in there later when you are done, unless there is something specific you want. You can just put lets say... a snake with any stats, I will level the snake for that level of area.

  • I redid the exit system to fix some inperfections. The current system was based on where you enter, so if you were to go use a teleporter in a town and go to another town, when you used an exit scroll, you would exit out the first town. I have now fixed this so you exit accordingly.

    By doing this everything was painstakingly given an exit point for each place. At least I got to count up all of the places and there are 44 so right now with 40 on the first planet. Shrines, caves, castles, towns, towers, groves, villages, passages and so on.

    There are some really nice new quests too like the bank job for the theives guild, the grafika quest for the mages guild and the condryl mountain quest for the ravana legion.

    This took me awhile to figure out. I knew that you were using materials from the RTP and so i knew i should be able to run this game without error... if i hadn't known that i would have just trashed the game after the first three crashes.  So i reinstalled from the beginning. Eventually also copying the extras manually into the RTP.

    Actually all of the "extras" are included in the game download, because the "extras" included with RPGM VX are technically not a part of the RTP, so you should not have had any problem. No one else has. I will install the game on my laptop that does not have RPGM VX to see :-)

  • Yeah... so i dont know if anyone else has this problem.... i cant be the only one... but if they DLed and installed the net copy of VX there is a good chance of it.  I would think that like me, when other people run into this error, they figure it to be an error on the part of the game maker and not an error on the part of enterbrains installers. Hence they just delete the offending project.

    What i meant to say is... your game uses more than just the RTP, it also uses the 'extras'... at my link i left instructions for making the extras a part of the RTP.

    I would assume that running the autorun in the net copy of the VX program would have an option for installing the extras... however i didn't get this message as windows XP doesn't know what to do with a auto run that is not part of a CD.  I could make the VX files into an iso file to test this but seems like too much trouble, just posting the bug and the fix seems like enough.

    I also updated my post with instructions on how to reproduce the error.

    If i left anything out you can send me a PM or just post here.

  • Yes they are "extras," however, I import them into the game itself so they become a part of the game and not the RTP. That is why the file is 18 MB instead of 8 MB.

  • The ruins are in V.9 in west Ravana. Ravana is north of where you start via travel service. As for making a lot of changes, not too many. I made the path up to it into a maze of trees. I tend to do that make mazes without looking like mazes.

    I just wanted to say thanks for the submission. I have been adding things and yours is the largest, so it gets added last. I really love it in the fact that it inspires me with your creative use of tiles. Everything looks gritty, not pretty, and grizzly in a great new way that makes it stand out as something unique and special that I have never seen before :-) Now to add it... It will be later in the game.

    Anyway...

    PERSONALITY
    NPCs now have personality stats based on things like how loving, happy, athletic, powerful, rich, fearful, aggressive and other things like that. 16 stats now make up their personality and you can play with that. You can manipulate them through taunting, admiring, bribing and threatening them.

    The tactics cannot go on forever though, because if their disposition drops to a certain point they stop talking to you and disappear. Guards will stop talking to you and throw you in prison or challenge you to a duel. Sort of like if you taunt an officer long enough you are going to jail.

    This allows for persuasion quests and dating I suppose. Persuasion quests are when you need something from someone, but you have to manipulate them to a certain point where you get what you want. Instead of them simply giving information or items depending on what it is that you need.

    If this seems like a bit much, you can always just bribe them, assuming that they are not rich.

    COVERING QUESTS
    To cover the variety of quests that are now in the game:
     - fetch quests (find this and bring it here)
     - persuasion quests (admire, taunt, intimidate or bribe someone to get something)
     - kill quests (kill this or that)
     - creation quests (like fetch quests only you create things and bring them)
     - rescue quests (find someone and rescue them)
     - escort quests (bring someone from point A to B)
     - puzzle quests (like fetch quests only involving puzzles)
     - revive quests (revive someone and either talk to them or rescue them)
     - survival quests (survive a battle to a certain turn)
     - escape quests (make it from point A to B alive in a certain amount of time)

    Complete and utter lies.  While we may not post every time we visit, we're all glad to see that World Crafters is going through updates, especially with all the new script updates.

    Personally, I've been busy with my largest project for World Crafters so far.  You've already seen a couple of screen shots

  • BIG UPDATES

    I have not posted all of the trivial updates, I have merely saved them for one giant post!

    World Crafters... the game that eats other games!

    I really love the last screenshot, it is... moody :-) The first screen shot needs more variety like some broken tables or something :-) It is also full screen like Zelda, tighten up the room. All of the town exteriors are wonderful! I would love to take a sneak peak of the project :-)

    2-3 hours is ambitious and I think that I just realized who you are on another forum. It is interesting; the fact that a person can go to all of these forums and follow the game like puzzle pieces.

    TOWER, FORTS, VILLAGES, PORTS, and AN UNDERGROUND EVIL CASTLE
    There are enough scraps around to make an entirely new kingdom and add it to the game. Scraps like excess things people have given me or things that I left out of one part to put into another part. It consists of 2 fortresses, 5 villages, 1 port, and an underground evil castle from Grafikal that will make anyone quake in their armor. This is where TOWER's great town will be placed along with his quests. All of this stuff will probably be for after the player has reached level 15-18+ and will be east of the Armatropa Kingdom.

    Someone (on another forum) also gave an underground fire quest, along with an underground volcanic town and prison.

    LAND OF THE GIANTS

    A13x and that forementioned person have given *big* cities as in with *big* buildings. I would like to still use their submissions, just because they are still good, even if *big* buildings do not fit the design style of the game. So I am going to create a world of giants! An extinct race of giants that left behind a mystery as to where they went... remember Final Fantasy Legend II? Same thing!

    STORIES

    To match up with the fact that the player must now find characters for the party instead of going to a guild and getting hooked up with the party, I have greatly improved the story with twists and turns. The story before was more like you just keep plodding along going to new places and killing what needs to be killed. Now there is more of a direction thanks to the Quest Log Script. Here is an example:

    HOMETOWN of TAKEMAN
     - you cannot leave town unless you have a weapon
     - pops (father character) will give you his prized pocket knife if you prove yourself to him (there are many ways)
     - when you get the pocket knife something major happens and you are sent to the king

    KING LORIK'S CASTLE of TANTEGEL
     - the king is a great man that will help anyone
     - the king's guards protect him from everyone
     - find a way to see the king (there are many ways, maybe 4 of them to see the king)

    NEW ALIAHAN
     - 1 of those ways is to speak with queen kalysta
     - she sends you to scare away a peeping tom looking at her daughter from across the moat
     - you must persuade him to stop watching, without killing him
     - with queen kalysta's blessing you can visit the king

    ... twists and turns without giving anything away

     - removed Individuality script (caused random errors I didn't want to deal with) DARKOSHADE
     - added advanced save script (but it still has errors) DARGOR
     - added bestiary (not working yet) DARGO
     - quest log script (heavily modified to work with my quest system) ATORIA
     - lights script (thinking of removing due to the lag) KYLOCK
     - advanced title screen (random maps from in game show!) DARGOR
     - particle effects (sparingly used) ANRYU
     - item generation script (create your own items) KGC
     - stat distribution script (thats what it says) LETTUCE

  • 2-3 hours is ambitious and I think that I just realized who you are on another forum. It is interesting; the fact that a person can go to all of these forums and follow the game like puzzle pieces.

  • I just had a really long post about updates and then when I posted it went to a 404 error and never posted.

    So I will only post the first half of the post, due to the fact that I am too tired to write anymore.

    I would also like to point out this game has been going 6 months.

    I finally have been granted access to see my web stats and I saw that this game had 1,000 downloads in the month of September alone and it has not had a new version since very early July. I am happy.

    The game now has 2 characters that will join your party for the rest of the game. This was to do away with the simplistic go to a guild and create your characters right at the start.

    I remember with Maia 2K3, people complained that you found all 4 characters in the first five minutes... but then of course you lose one of them when he turns on you 10 minutes later.

    Anyway, one of the two new characters is the princess of Alefgard. Not really the princess, more like she's the step daughter of the king. The daughter of a thief that married into being a queen.

    The second character is the player's endearing, charming, flustered best friend of a character.

    Both characters need to be earned with quests, if not a series of quests. One storyline will lead you into prison, the other will lead you into a graveyard after being asked by an angry father to go.

    You can get both characters to join the party after a full hour into the game. Give or take ten minutes.

    I should point out that you still pick their class and assign their stats to create your very own character.

    Now to make how to earn the final character.

    As for how you submit things, you just make your own game, and then give me that game and I will add it to this one. That is what makes this the game that eats other games.

    Here are the errors with V.10 that have been reported and I have fixed:
     - fixed walking sick
     - Quick Fix Quest Log error is now fixed
     - Fixed Halbat Farmer that would not let you pass even when you completed Quick Fix
     - Fixed Akarothi Docks error
     - Fixed the thugs and the princess

    These are pretty noticable if not annoying, so I have uploaded V.10.1.


    Make sure that when installing the new version, you keep your save files in a different location and then put them back.

  • 18 as far as I have gotten, and I have beaten the game... or at least gone as far as anyone can go when you warp to another world. I need to go back through the game and play it a second time to add quests to the quest log.

  • While I have been away I have been getting emails and secret messages on various forums. At least people are interested.

    So the big news is I figured out what was giving the game the lag. It was Dangor's Beastiary. Once it was gone the game no longer lagged or chugged along.

    That does not mean I have uploaded a new version. I want to do more for the game instead of releasing it just to release it for a special day.

  • Never noticed it even though it has been going on since March.

    I am thinking of calling it Universe, considering that it eats other game worlds.

    The patch system would not be good considering the start changes very frequently, especially with the last version. The new start town as a tutorial was good, but eh people did not like the quests to get your feet wet. The next version will need a restart as well, because I removed the non working Bestiary and apparently the game crashes if you load from an old save.

    I am still not completely sure if I want to rekindle this or work on it anymore.
    If someone submits something, then I will add to it, but that is about it.

    On the plus side, the lights system works now with no lag... due to the non working Bestiary causing the lag.

    Finally, ah there is nothing like calling the second oldest person on this forum kiddo :-)

  • It has always been where you start a new project, not add. Adding stuff would get too confusing to people. There is a project on these forums where you add to them, but yep it was too confusing for people so no one participated.

  • Fixes for the next version:
     - Speed and lots of it. Slow bug was fixed.
     - Lights. They're back and they were taken out because of the speed.
     - Bestiary. A working version that doesn't slow down the game.
     - No more sliding tile error. Those that saw it know what it is.
     - Save Status. There is no more save status error, because there is no more save status screen.
     - Quicker night / day system. As in it doesn't slow the game down.
     - No more stats selection. People were being morons and complaining when their ultra killer low defense low HP character was slaughtered.
