RPG Maker VX?

    October 05, 2007 - Information from holloway from the Gaming World forums has recently reported the existence of RPG Maker XP's sequel, RPG Maker VX. According to his sources, Play-Asia.com has recently opened its pre-orders to RPG Maker VX. According to Tkool Newspaper, it is presumably an upgrade to RPG Maker XP, like RPG Maker 2003 was to RPG Maker 2000.

    On the same site it states that RPG Maker VX been scheduled to be released on December 27, 2007 and it will be sold for a price of ¥8980 (USD $99.00 or AUD $116.31). However, there are currently no formal announcments from the developers of the RPG Maker series, Enterbrain.

    The Tkool Newspaper also notes several information regarding this new program, such as the strengthening of the autotile function, increase of frame rate, and a feature that will help people that are not good at programming. This information is not confirmed.

    According to Tkool Newspaper, a site which was supposed to accept pre-orders for RPG Maker VX has been deleted on the 2nd of October. However, Play-Asia.com's pre-order page still exists.

    There has been many speculations on the sequel to the popular game engine RPG Maker XP, but most of them were left unconfirmed - could this be one of them? We would still have to wait for Enterbrain's official announcement.

    • I heard about this the other day. It's going to have to be pretty good, with comparable (and free!) programs like Stencyl in the works as well.

    • I wonder if they are going to do some changes in the RTP or something. That would be pretty cool.

    • I'm more interested in whether or not they're going to have a default battle system that doesn't blow chunks.

    • If they do like they did to rm2k3(Making a side-view battle system instead of the old one), then I would do anything to have it. rm2k almost has the same system as XP, so hopefully, they will upgrade to side-view, like they did to rm2k3.

    • 99 dollars? WOW,,that's quite a LOT!

    I feel like it's just going to be RPG Maker XP with an updated RTP...

    (That is because 2003 is practically 2000 with a different battle system and a little up'd RTP.)
