You forgot all the Visual Express programs that Microsoft made, they're the ones I use for C++ programming and Visual Basic. http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/

This one it fast... but when I used it to come to this page there was no REPLY button... side note- how do you change the default brower? So that when the computer trys to connect to the internet by itself, it uses the browser I want it to.

So that when the computer trys to connect to the internet by itself, it uses the browser I want it to. If you're using XP there should be an option that automatically comes up, other than that, go investigate the Control Panel or the Internet Options. You'll normally find something.

Silverline, you might consider removing AVG... It's no longer free since about two weeks ago, reason for which my computer almost got screwed if it wasn't for me discovering Avast before that happened... For as soon as AVG went unsupported, lots of spyware and adware, trojans and sheriffs attracked my PC at the same time... *Cries just at the thought of such a terrible experience...*

That's not what I was informed of. Indeed, they tried to make people think the free-edition was gone and that they had to buy to continue receiving their services... *sighs* A common trick I fell for... *blushes* Thanks for letting me know, but it's okay! I got Avast, which seemingly is better, and updates as often as AVG does, etc. Plus, it detected and dealt with things AVG didn't even find in my computer.

I suggest adding IncrediMail to the mail clients section, and Flashget to the download managers' section. Both are good examples! I love IncrediMail, and Flashget was my choice for a long time. It's popular.

If I use the codecs above, should I uninstall the ffdshow codecs or does it matter?
EDIT: Doesn't matter, installed them.
